I think that TAB should do a cd of gospel music. I've heard them do several gospel songs and I don't think they've released any outside of their live stuff.

Jim Avett and Family.
Released on Ramseur Records in 2008.
You know, I was thinking the very same thing, mschroc2. When I was growing up in a very small town in SC, my great grandmother played piano at our Baptist church. Some of my favorite songs come from an old wine-colored Broadman hymnal. I love songs like "Victory in Jesus," "Are You Washed in the Blood," Have Thine Own Way Lord," "Old Rugged Cross," "I Surrender All,"---I would love to have the Avetts doing those songs. I admit, I get teary when I hear them do any old gospel tunes. Now that I attend a more progressive church, I rarely to get to hear all of those songs anymore.
I did dream one night that I was singing gospel hymns around a piano with the boys.
Old Rugged Cross is on the album Yellow Bandit mentioned. Your wish has come partially true.
I've got it, but it's mostly Jim singing. For example, I grew up hearing "Just A Little Talk With Jesus" done with a really strong tenor. In the aforementioned version, JIm is doing it alone. I love it, don't get me wrong, though.
