Granada Theatre on Jan. 3rd

I've been surprised that no one has started a thread on this show yet. I wasn't able to make it, but was in ATL and I'm really curious about how it went. From what I've seen of the set list, it sounds like it was a really great show.

It was a great show!! I was right at the front of the stage with my husband. It does get hard to hear them sometimes when people are trying to sing over them. I love the fact that so many people have grown to know their music and all the words to their songs but I wanta hear them sing and play not other people sing so loud that you hear them the whole time. Some people are meant to just sing in the shower or their car not over the performer. I really wanted to hear Scott and Seth's wonderful voice but it was very hard. I love seeing them though no matter what circumstances. They make me happy every time!!

I was at this show awesome and it was amazing. I was up front as well, in fact I think I may have spent quite a bit of time talking to you and your husband Sonya, but I don't think I ever caught your names. The energy of this show was incredible, not to mention it was packed. The only problem I had was that from where I was standing, the bass and the drums were very loud while the banjo and guitar seemed too quiet. I think we were just in a bad part too in front of the speakers, but it was awesome being so close to the band.

I may be one of the loud, annoying singers you're talking about because I'm constantly singing my lungs out and I'm sure it bothers people when I see them. But there is no way in hell that I could go to their shows and sing quietly, I sing loud in my car with them, I sing loud at their concerts. What can I say?

That's ok......you do what you gotta do. It's hard to not sing to them at all for sure. I had a great time! I told J what I wrote and he said the same thing that he was singing pretty loud too. I don't care, really I don't.....you sing my friend...sing it loud! LOL! I hope we can all hang again at more Avett shows. J tells me when people sing like that at his shows it makes them feel sooo good to hear folks singing their songs back at them. I'm sure the Avett boy's love that. I'm glad we got a chance to meet each other. It is always nice to meet other Avett Brothers fans that are as passionate about the band as we are. We did get to talk with Scott and Joe after the show and got a big hug from them both. That topped the night for sure! Take it easy and hope to see or hear ya again at another show. Maybe next time you can come to a dirtfoot show. We sing pretty loud at their shows too.
Be loud let your colorshow~

great show, the best of their dallas shows yet, energy and just all around amazing energy that night

i want people to sing when i play live and it seems the boys do as well but i know sometimes i sing louder and sometimes i sing softer when singing at shows, it depends on the tone of the song how loud i sing. i thought a lot of people were pretty quiet on the slower and softer songs

This was a great show, lots of variety in the set list. I got a spot right beside the sound booth and the video guy(very nice video guy, he let me record as much as I wanted to). I didnt have any problems with the sound and thought the crowd was perfect for a Avett show. The only problem I had was a younger couple swiped my front row spot on the rail of the balcony during a bar run but 2 songs later they realized what they did and found another spot. (very avett like). Here are a few videos from the show.

I was there!! Just found out about The Avett Brothers over the summer and haven't stopped listening to them since. Since the show was sold out by the time I found out about it, my brother and I just showed up at the Granada looking for tickets. Of course NOBODY wanted to sell theirs but after FREEZING for about an hour and a half, luckily I found someone who had extras and got in. Being my first time to see them live, I have nothing to compare them too. But, they. Were. AWESOME!!! These guys are legit and the show was sweet. I think they're coming back this summer (?) so I'll definitely come back, wouldn't miss it.

As far as the sound goes, I was on the bottom floor, sort of middle back and towards the left if you're looking at the stage and I thought the sound was great, even the vocals. I think the banjo and vocals could've been a LITTLE higher but not enough to be distracting. The only downside to the show was that I didn't know some of their older songs (I was only familiar with Emotionalism and I and Love and You), but since then I've bought every single one of their albums, so now I'm good!

There's just something about these guys that I'm drawn too...and is good as they are, they seem to keep getting better and better.

Welcome jj!

glad you had a great first show! i've seen a few now and testify to the getting better and better! enjoy your new addiction.

there's only one thing here worth hoping for

Those photos are incredible! I saw the photographer taking shots of the crowd and everything during the show and was expecting to see some pretty sweet photos, and these greatly exceed my expectations.
