Grand Rapids, MI June 18 at FM Gardens

Didn't see a thread for this show yet. Who's going? I'll be there with wife Laura and a few other couples from the 'hood, plus brother and sister and spouses. No kids this time. Have not seen a show at this venue but have heard it is great. You're supposed to bring chairs I guess but my feeling is everyone is going to crowd the stage and the people sitting in chairs will have to move back and up the hill to see anything.

I love all their songs of course but will be hoping for November Blue since it is the song that got me hooked and I haven't seen them do it yet. I am also hoping for Salina since it is my sister's fav and she is seeing them for the first time. And my favorite, Left on Laura...., they've done it every show I've been to and I really hope they play it for my friends who need to see that live.

i'm thinking about not going now after Hutch and I rocked out open mic last night (parking lot after the Red Wings - (BOO Penguins) we ripped up November Blue and Left on Laura - then went onstage and did LOL, LOL and Denouncing) - we were such a hit that someone in the audience came up and asked us to perform at his wedding next year (said it was "lucrative") and was calling his fiance down right then to listen to us. And that was the first time we played out together! So, do we really need to see another TAB show after that? of course. my whole fam, mom & dad - and aunt and uncle - a nana are all going. not sure about any pre-show get together as I am starting a new job next week and don't know if i'll have time to do anything but wait in line.

Yes if anyone wants to see a killer Avett cover band there is a wedding exactly one year from now we'll be playing at...at least that's what the guy said. Chris told him he'd do it for free but the guy insisted on paying with lots of booze and "serious cash". I'm holding out for a better offer. LOL

Seriously though, that was the best time I've had in a long time and thank goodness Chris carried my butt the whole way.

My husband and I are coming over with my mom and dad from the Flint Area. Offering is also one at the top of my list of songs I really want to hear. Can't wait for the show!

wish i could have gone. the setlist looks nice, can't wait for a review! Smiling

reviews, anyone? Solomon??? What I wouldn't give to hear that live.

Also how was Sam and The Midnight Shivers?

I'm no angel, I'm close with my sin
But I've made the worst mistake and I've made it again
And I promised myself I'd stop
That I would change, but clearly I'm not

The Grand Rapids show was PHENOMENAL. My daughter and I have only been to two concerts-both of which were the Avett Brothers and this show was tits.

Sam and The Midnight Shivers opened up with some awkward humor and thouroughly enjoyable harmonies. I really liked Samatha and how open she was to the attack of stiff families and thier autograph-hungry pre-teens after her performance.

The crowd really got moving when the Avett Brothers took the stage. I lost all inhabitions and went crazy with my own little one when the band opened up with Shame. From then on, the show was flawless. The only time we stopped dancing was when my daughter gasped for air and asked for water. (we were Sweaty Betty's)

Chris mentioned the band being in Detriot in July so I'm going to have to get the final details on that so we can make that show too-I'd hate to miss 'em!!

Avett Brothers at Meijer Gardens!!!

Couldn't have asked for a more perfect evening! The Avett Brothers have truly taken entertainment to a new level. I can't even pick a favorite - - every song was so uniquely their own. Thanks, Avetts, for the lyrics, arrangements, and melodies. You own your songs like no other. Myself, my daughter, and my 2 year-old grandson (The #1 Avett fan) look forward to seeing you again and again. We only hope we can afford it!

I am glad the weather cooperated for you all.

JHutch,
Thanks for posting the review!

That was a nice review but
....an obscure song such as "Paranoia in B-Flat Major,"...
???????

So obscure it's been played at *almost every* show!
