Lucky enough to see the Avett Brothers at the House of Blues Sunday night in the great city of Boston. You guys were just fantastic. Your CDs are one thing, but seeing you live takes it over the top.....keep touring and come back to Boston.

from the youtube vids really sounds like Scotts voice was hurtin. Cus in NYC it was not like that.. Maybe even a lil under the weather.
Yeah, Scott's voice was pretty haggard. It did not detract from the overall experience though.
concur, not at all. And it must not have been hurtin him too much because he sure didn't seem to hold back.

good to hear. He is def horse in the vid tho.
Wonderful concert! So nice to meet other fans as well.
I honestly didn't even notice the hoarseness in Scott's voice until I just now listened to the YouTube video! The show was so high-powered that it didn't seem to make a difference. I got to hear a couple of my favorites (even though Scott messed up Tin Man a bit) and lots of songs from the new album. I'd say that's my only complaint--I'd rather have heard more older stuff, though that's just me. It just felt like they were trying to get as many of the new songs into the show as possible, which is smart, just not what I would have preferred. I think the best part of the night was the crowd silence around me at the beginning of 'If It's the Beaches". Such a beautiful song and amazing guitar playing by both brothers. Great night!!
who opened?
Nicole Atkins & the Black Sea, who will be with them until Halloween and put on an equally energetic performance.

lildeadhead: that pen she uses to keep her setlists? it's a human-finger bone. dipped in the blood of the ones who yell out during "murder in the city". poetic, no?
This was a great show. It felt so different from Terminal 5. Down Home Girl, it's funny you mentioned the lack of old songs. Looking at the set list, I know what you mean, but the New York show was so heavy on the new stuff (it took them 12 songs before they played something newer than Emotionalism) that I was wondering what Boston would be like, and I felt they mixed it up much more. Getting Salvation Song as the second tune was a wonderful surprise, as was an early Talk on Indolence, and PGF Matthews (!). They did sound somewhat hoarse and tired, Scott didn't sing as much with Seth on Tear Down the House, but there was no lack of energy on that stage. Living of Love! Been hoping for that, and it was even more beautiful than I could have hoped.
Overall a great way to end the weekend. Thank you so much to the band and crew for an amazing show and lots of love all my Avett friends.

Sorry for the blurriness on some. How can I possibly keep still?
I thought it was a great show. It did have a really different feel than the NYC show--not as over the top on energy, but I don't mean that in a negative way, just a different vibe. I love how every show can be so different, but still amazing in its own way. Scott did sound hoarse, but it didn't stop him much. Living of Love, Matthews, It Goes On and On and If It's the Beaches were all highlights for me--If it's the Beaches was a BEAUTIFUL version and was a great way to end my four night run and ease me DIRECTLY into my Avett Hangover.
