How easy/What's the best way to meet the band?

I'm a huge fan obviously, but additionally I'm taking my girlfriend, who introduced me to the Avett Brothers, to a show on her birthday, and thought it would be amazing to have her meet the band. There are so many pictures of people with the band I was wondering how to go about becoming one of those lucky folk.

Be as loud as you can at the show, (so they notice you), then they will find you after.
Some people have met the band at least 25 times. Persistence, patience, and luck.

Well hopefully it's not one of these upcoming NYE shows, because those are pretty big, and chances of talking to them are much lower. However, they've come up to the line to say hello at shows I've been to before. It's not too hard. They're very nice!
yah im gonna be at the show in ithaca ny. Hardly anybody up here knows them, which is a blessing and curse since they hardly come to the northeast. But it'll be a small show and hopefully security will let me get up to the stage to take some pictures and they'll recognize me as "that dude with the camera"
Last year, cameras weren't even allowed in The State. And unfortunately, there was a HUGE group of people waiting to talk to them after the show, so there will be a crowd. People don't just stay in the seats at The State Theatre... they crowd right up to the stage, so hopefully you're not planning on pushing in people's ways!
Regardless, see you in my town in February! I live just up the street from The State Theatre, and it'll be my third Avett show there.
wow good to know. looks like I'll be ditching my dad's nice DSLR and smuggling my little camera in my girlfriends coat. I wouldn't push anyone out of the way, but you can count on me weaseling my way up to the stage hahaha. It's a three hour drive back home from Ithaca so if the crowds are as bad as you say I may have to try again some other time. No big deal though, it's the music that matters anyway!
Move to Mt. Pleasant/Concord, NC and eat at What-A-Burger a lot. You'll get fat, but there's a trade-off for everything in life.

NastyNate, is it true they were at the What-A-Burger last Saturday? Of course I missed it if they were. I still hold out hope of seeing them at the grocery store or the consignment shop like loveswritesaletter did, and I'm sure I would say something stupid, but I still hope one day....

Yeah, they were. I gotta couple pics with 'em up on my profile. Like everyone says, they're really laid back, humble dudes.

When they came to Grand Rapids for a show they did a couple songs at a local radio station during the afternoon. We went down there and met them and actually spent several minutes talking with all of them. They signed posters for my kids.
After several shows I've spoken to one or two of them but you rarely catch all of them and the last show I went to none of them came out, although I did bump into two of them at the coffee shop next door before the show.
We kidnapped them for 13 days back in '06. Kept them in our basement until we were sure they wouldn't run. We ended up being quite good friends. Of course, that was long before they beefed up security.
By the way, be careful with Dane. He's pretty tough. I recommend investing in a taser.

Bobz, you should've linked the The American Budget network--they have a great discount on tasers.

Wish me luck, I know you think I'll need it.
For all the hardest roads we have to walk alone.
Chilling near their bus after show for an hour or so its worth the wait and yes i know it sounds creepy or just go to alot of their shows and they'll recognize you.
hey! i figured i would chime in since im also driving a few hours to the Ithaca show. cant wait; good luck and hope you still have an awesome time even if you dont get the chance to meet em this time around!
Since they've been getting bigger, it seems much harder to meet them. I would recommend going to a smaller shower and chilling near the back entrance and/or bus. Good luck! Meeting them was one of the best days of my life.

I think chilling in the back of their shower is crossing a line.

I'm really glad no one is in my office right now to hear me laughing this hard. That is hilarious...
wow tazering dane. i should have thought about that before now. why hasn't someone done it yet?
this is just going to escalate fast.
I really hope to meet the guys at Merlefest, I'm not sure what the probability of that will be but I can only hope that me and my friend will get the oppurtunity! Only 127 more days
haha.
bahhahaah wow I should really proofread my posts. I was sitting alone and laughed out loud when I saw NC4Now's post. Show, NOT shower. Freudian slip?? I'd like to think I'm not that creepy.
