I have been to six shows and currently have tickets for two more.

i've only seen the boys about a dozen times...have tickets to the charlotte show coming up as well...am hoping to keep those numbers increasing as the years go by!
Granada Theater in Dallas will be show 15, unless I can pull something together previous to that. They hold the record for artist/band I have seen the most and starting to leave Dylan, Phish & the Dead in the dust.
Nice topic - will be fun to watch the responses.
Wish my number was higher but Im at 8 shows with Roanoke, Myrtle Beach and Charlotte coming up to make it 11. Started with Rock the Block in W-S summer of 05 and ending with Orange Peel in Asheville, December of 08. Its killing me I havent been to a show let this year!
Sure wish I was smarter back when they were playing local NC shows back in 05/06/07. There is a ton I know I missed, excuse me while I go kick my own ass...

I first heard the Avetts in June 2007. First show was August 2007 followed by two more ASAP that same year. Only two last year. My head full of songs helped get me through Boot Camp last year though, that's for sure. Amazing how much music can stay with you and fill in the quietness (or block out the noise) of life.
My number doubled in May from just five shows to ten. . .so far. Every show has been special in its own way and I'm grateful for having met such good people at every show.
God only knows what lies ahead. Can't wait!

Five for me, since July of '08. I have tickets for three more this year. Also hoping to make one or some of the end of the year shows.

Things change and get strange with the movement of time.
It's happening right now to you.
The Lexington,KY show yesterday was my 10th. Im going to Louisville next month, Charlotte in August and Urbana, IL in October. And Im sure many, many more will follow! They are the only band that I would even consider seeing this much. Everytime I see them again I look up their tour dates and try and figure out how Im going to make it to another show asap!

Wow! Most of you have seen them many more times that I have. I live in MI and don't have the resources to do tons of traveling. I saw them for the first time in Grand Rapids this month and I am seeing them on July 2nd in Detroit, and again in October in Ann Arbor. I definitely understand why some have seen them upwards of 15 times...
32 and counting

7 with the 2 Myrtle Beach shows, Charlotte, and Columbia on the way.

Last night, I dreamt the whole night long
I woke with a head full of songs
I spent the whole day, I wrote em down
but it's a shame
Tonight, I'll burn the lyrics
'cause every chorus was your name.
The Tuscaloosa show in September will be my 20th. Unless of course I can sneak in another one or two somewhere along the way w/ all these dates on their schedule

The day will come, the sun will rise, and we'll be fine
I have been to 6 so far this year and 9 total. Charlotte will be number 10 for me and it will also be my first time in North Carolina so I am super excited about that. I am also planning on a Boise, Seattle, Britt Fest, Arcata run as well and that will likely be it for me this year unless the boys make another visit to the Pacific Northwest.
7 shows for me. I have tickets to four this summer though
I kinda lost track. I gotta be around 15. Most of any band I have seen by far.
This has been the only band I have and continue to want to follow around. Cool feeling.
I remember driving up to Santa Barbara with my GF to see the show. She had never been before and was really just humoring me. Afterwards she said "I get it know"

Do the best you can and that wont go unseen
21 shows from the Purple Fiddle in April 06 to the Newport in June 09.. making it 23 in July. =]

Folks, I believe we have a winner! I was waiting to hear that tally. Wow.
When was your first show, anyways?
Sunday, you are my hero!

Merlefest 04
23...unless I am forgetting one.
I don't know, exactly, I'm thinking right around 20. Everytime I think I'm through I remember another one...
i saw OCMS at Merlefest 04, there couldn't have been more than 30 people there. I remember really wanting to see them, gillian, and doc. i didn't even realize TAB was there, or ever heard of them. Would've been great to catch them earlier.
My show account is a whopping 2, with tix to double that this summer.
i'm always broke when they come around here so i've only been able to catch 5 shows. if i had money i would be at the two myrtle shows and charlotte and maybe roanoke.

"a woman's heart runs on gasoline"
I'm sitting on 20 shows... plannin' on trying my hardest to hit Tuscaloosa (as a youth minister, Sunday nights aren't easy to get free from), Memphis will more than likely happen, and thinking about Little Rock...

I'm having the same dilemma. I had to write them down to make sure I wasn't double counting. I'm up to 33 and I think that's it so far, but I have 4 more planned between now and 8/8.
Some classics in there too...
The Flying Anvil show
The Get Downtown opening for Violent Femmes
Essex Fest
Pickathon
Great memories...
best part is the people I've met and friends I've made. Sometimes I forget how lucky I am. I need to quit doing that.

Ah, crap. Do in-stores count?
35 if they do.
I wrote them down and still miscounted them.

I think if I caught Seth whistling walking down the road, I'd count that.
double post
My first show was in April of 08. Since then I have been to 20 shows....with tickets for 4 upcoming shows including Charlotte.
I used to be able to eat at Outback once a week before I went to my first Avett Brother show.
Avett Brothers > Outback
36 and counting
2 Jim Avett shows one with Scott and Seth
And I first saw them in '04 I believe Merlefest was the first time
21 shows so far, with tickets to 3 more. I think I'll hit 30 by year's end.

Wow! Thanks everyone for posting! 70 shows, sundayrehab? That's awsome! My friends tease me for having gone to 6 shows in 3 states. It's so nice to know others are as excited about TAB as I am! All I need now is a winning lottery ticket and tour bus...
I'm at 59 and my wife is at 60. Looking at the schedule and hearing a few rumors, I would guess 4 more this year.

Ohio...the Heart of it All
Lamar, I still want that 12 month total. I am confident it will never be matched. And you guys are destined to pass David.
I am really bad at this, but I did a count a couple years back and found that between our first show on 5-14-05 and 8-20-07 we hit 22 shows. Maybe double that by now?

That's great! You doing the VA shows?
Bonefish and I put up a huge map of the east coast on our wall and we put in stickpins for all the shows we go to. It's a great way to keep track and visualize the distance we travel. Of course, we had to "add" our west coast show so Portland is represented by a postcard stuck on the top west corner of the map. Hope to add more west coast postcards next year!
All the of our basement den walls are slowly being taken over by TAB goodies.

The day will come, the sun will rise, and we'll be fine
24 shows with 4 more on the horizon
11 wonderful, fantastic shows.
May 08 was my first show, I was pregnant. I saw them two more times pregnant. Tuesday made my fourth time. I wanted to see them badly in the fall of 07 in Lex. They were here a couple times within weeks but I was sick during that period. I want to see them outside so bad so that I can take my 6 month old. She tries to sing along. Its cute.

tallied up a few months ago, but I'm still missing a few, I think, b/c there were never any tickets printed for those... By my count I've been to 58 shows, but will hit 60 come Myrtle Beach.... been lucky enough to see the guys as far west as Colorado, as far South as Gulf Shores, AL, and as far North as NYC
this isn't counting the NEMO shows I saw back in high school
--
Well Locust, Mount Pleasant, Concord.... LETS GOOO!
15 so far, tonight's show will be 16, and have tickets to at least 5 more shows this year. i'm hoping to round out to an even 2 dozen by year's end!
Dawnrae: That's great! You doing the VA shows?
Yeah, It's going to be just like last summer...My dad and Myself...through the state of Virginia.
25. Chicago will be 26. Not sure where's next from there but I'm sure I'll be back for more.
Very impressed by all the high numbers. Proof's definitely in the pudding.

Things change and get strange with the movement of time, it's happening right now to you.
I've been to 6 in less than a year, with three (possibly 4) more coming up between now and October.
This brings up something I thought about a couple of days ago when I was buying my tickets for the shows in NYC and Boston - how much money have I spent on the Avetts? I know it's gauche to talk about money, but I have definitely spent more $ on this band than I have for any of my other obsessions throughout my life (which is saying something, because I went through a phase when if Stuart Weitzman didn't make 'em, I wasn't wearing 'em (shoes, that is)).
I am scared to actually do the math to figure out exactly what my Avett love has cost me. Oh well, it's a bargain at twice the price.

Will you forget when we have paid our debts,
who did we borrow from, who did borrow from?
I'll be at 30 after myrtle beach and charlotte... but have a feeling I'm missing a few

"I am scared to actually do the math to figure out exactly what my Avett love has cost me. Oh well, it's a bargain at twice the price.
Me too - Back in 05 and 06 I probably bought 100 tickets and dozens of cds for other people that I forced to go to shows with me. Can't complain though, the return on that investment has been better than the stock market:)
This Sunday in Chicago will be show #9 since Feb of 08. I thought that 9 was a good number, until I started reading these posts. Wow...how have some of you been able to see them so many times?
I just had a mental picture of a carload of Avett Fans following behind the tour bus. The car covered in TAB lyrics with the occupants singing at the top of their lungs as they replay that nights Avett Brothers fix.
