Regardless, this is lovely. This is like a visual love letter to my life. In addition to amazing music, cats, dogs, good dental hygiene, fan camraderie, family love, the South and the Brooklyn Bridge were all featured. Congrats to all who worked on/were in this. It's gorgeous.
This video is going to win them a jillion new fans. Bless them.

I think Crackerfarm did a masterful job with the video. I have always liked their photos but have not always been a fan of their video work. This has certainly changed my opinion. After the shoot I was worried that the video would show a lot of the crowd doing the arm waving thing. That just strikes me as cheesy, like American Idol. Thank God Crackerfarm came through and did not fall into that trap. Congratulations to everyone involved. Now where will this thing play? Does MTV or VH1 still play any music videos?

As an animal lover, I absolutely love Seth telling his cat goodbye, the big old sigh by the dog, and the chickens, too.
Love that their Mom is in the video.
Love the scene sitting around the living room.
Love Scott jumping from the truck into the crowd. So great!
Love the hearing the crowd singing at the end.

Seeing them with their pets just drove home how hard it must be to leave everything and everyone you love, so often and so long. We are blessed.

I've never seen a music video so fully encompass the values of a band... The song is incredible and the video would be great even with no music to it, but I do believe that they've found the perfect marriage of melody, harmony, and visual art...

That was one of the most beautiful things I've seen in ages. Showcasing the dichotomy between leaving the ones you love to share love with the world. Wowsers. Good stuff. The images were so full, suiting the song to perfection.

Loved it! I even saw myself and my sister in the crowd, though barely. That is fine with me, since the experience is what mattered.
Since the video is out, I think I'll finally upload some of the behind the scenes vids I shot, which show some really fun storytelling. Hopefully that will be ok!
Every time they show Seth with a cat, it makes me smile. I'm sure you all have heard the bit where he talks to his kitty on Darling.
The part in the video when they are surrounded by trees really reminded me of when I was little. You can tell they are in NC!

Ok i have all ready posted on the myspace page as well but I had to look on the website quickly to see if others had seen the video as well. I just sent a txt to my brother informing him of the great Avett news. I just got off a 14 hour shift (the whole time involving listening to the new album) and I have done nothing but look at youtube pages of the band since getting off shift; I must say that after 21 hours now my TAB obsession needs to end for the day!!!!!! I look forward to reading all the posts later. But before I get some shut eye I have to say that all The Avett Brothers fans on here you're awesome and so true just like the band!

Wow. I was looking forward to this video and didn't really know what to expect.
As a few others mentioned I thought it would be mostly fan footage from the shoot.
But this exceeded my expectations, as everything The Avett Brothers produce always has/does. Incredible.
I'm sitting outside the library at school crying. My eyes are filled with tears of joy and my heart is swelling with happiness/love for this band.
What a treat, I didn't think this would be released until 09/29.

WOW, what a great surprise this morning!! I am speechless. Over the past couple of weeks, I wasn't sure how I was going to feel knowing that this was a slower easy going song. I had kind of wanted their video to be a stomping dancing song, but all my fears have been laid to rest. This was a beautiful thing to watch, I'm off to watch it again. Normally, I can't stand to watch anyone brush their teeth, I hate it, but I would watch Seth brush his teeth all day if I had the chance!
The first really classy "official" music video I have seen in a long, long, long time. Well done!

Two other small details that I love -- the simple note left by Scott ("I love you") and the strip of pictures of Seth and his wife from a photo booth.
I've really never seen any music video as touching as this, but then again...I'm biased. Happily so.

What a beautiful video. What really strikes me is that, when I think about what the guys are like when they are just home with their family in between tours/show, the images in the video are EXACTLY what I imagine. It's a great representation of the values that make this band what it is.
i think it took something visual for me that this song is NOT about a girl.
Wow.
Every moment of that video was beautiful, and I'm left with tears in my eyes.
