Anyone watching in the closet?
This girl is worth the ridicule you will take for admitting you watch show.
She is the real deal, a future rock/blues recording artist.

andrew garcia...but yeh, she's good. Doesn't seem like she's very thankful for the opportunity though. Maybe it's all part of it. But she did get a good teeth whitening out of it.

I read somewhere... how important it is in life not necessarily to be strong... but to feel strong:
There are one or two other girls on there who seem like contenders. Didi is pretty good (even though she was lambasted last week) and the other girl with the short cut hair that was dyed bright red last night. Crystal is pretty good but she's borderline. Can't tell yet if she's star material or just a subway performer. The guys all suck.
At least this is what I've heard...from somebody else...when I overheard that conversation in the office...cause a 42 year old construction guy like me is busy watching the Spike Network...grunt grunt.
Not that I am watching either,Dave. Just happened to walk by the TV set when she was singing. LOL.
What I like about her also, 235 is her attitude. It's like she ain't sucking up to these idiots. Here is what I got and screw you all. The missing molars kind of go with the tough , bluesy image.

To give the love you find until it's gone
I can see that. She's doesn't seem too concerned about what they're about to say to her.
BTW - Jersey Boy here...Dad still resides on LBI and I lived in Belmar for a time after I got married. Since we're discussing a reality show, I hope the entire planet doesn't liken us to those guidos on Jersey Shore.
I'm watching. It's entertaining. Love Crystal. She's got real talent. Also like the platinum blonde that did Patsy Kline and Didi.

Hah, Dave. Amazing how popular that show Jersey Shore is. Those guidos aren't typical of locals but they are here in the summer. D'Jai's in Belmar is a little Staten Island.
Yet to see one of them on a surfboard.
Linda, Dave and I don't really watch but it is okay for you because you are a girl.
But I do like Lilly who did the Patsy Cline song and Sophia did a nice job with House of the Rising Sun....at least it sounded that way while I was in the other room polishing my hunting knives.

hahaha, Doc, that's funny. Gotta keep up the image.
I also agree that Sophia has a nice voice. Very controlled.

Real men ain't afraid to admit they watch AI. Watching the men right now. Hallelujah was destroyed. Girls are definitely better especially Crystal and Lilly. Mrs. Z is partial to Casey on the boys' side.
Edited to add: I hope SundayRehab doesn't see this.

Rejoice always, Mark
The girls definitely have the guys beat. It all seems very amateurish this year for some reason. Maybe it's just because they're still in the little studio. We'll see what happens when they get down to 12.
Also, except for Crystal and Andrew Garcia, everyone else who chooses to play an instrument seems like the instrument is just getting in the way of them actually performing. The Carole King chicks Hammond organ playing to wit. It was really just a prop.
Perhaps we should start an AI at the Water Cooler thread.
wow, y'all.....Crystal! Doing Janice Joplin, but still herself. Really, really great

She has yet to dissapointment. We need more artist like her. She really is true to herself and her style!
LOVE IT!

"For every year of knowledge gained, is a negative year I've earned"
She nailed it again.
I didn't like the critiques the women telling her she needs to show more personality.
I am glad Simon told her he likes her the way she is.
She is enigmatic on a show where everyone is trying to please. Hope she doesn't change.

Yes, she is the only one WITH a personality. Let it shine, Crystal.

The rest of the group are almost unwatchable. Some of them awful! Besides Crystal...Casey is ok and Big Mike isn't bad as long as he doesn't start dancing!
Incredible last night.
Put her on tour now.

exactly, Doc. Exactly. The rest of the contestants should just pack it up.

This is the first year I am actually watching. Crystal is amazing. What really impresses me is her song choices. She has it all over the other contestants.

"I like my music with the rinds and the seeds and pulp left in" - Tom Waits
I agree completely with all of you but watch...it happens every year. Fickle America votes for this as a popularity contest, not based on the best singer. It's awful but it worked out for Chris Daughtry. He was hands down the best contestant that year. By not winning he was actually able to make the music / album that he wanted rather than being controlled by Idol after the show was over.
It seems like Crystal is using the show to get a nice jump forward in what was already a music career with integrity. You are correct in saying it might be better for her to come in second or third. She moved me last night.

Wow, I'm not sure why I read this thread just now, because I have never seen an episode of AI...but this thread almost makes me wish I had a TV!
Taryn? Are you with me here?
But that Docmike quote about the hunting knives had me literally cracking up here at work, that was great!
Maybe I'll try to Hulu tor Youtube this Crystal woman...see what y'all are talkin' about....

I gave to you my ugly brown coat, you made it pretty when you put it on....
Yogini - She's somone to get your hopes up about but watching the rest of the contestants will cure you of your need to see what we're talkin' about any further
Celebrity Rehab with Dr Drew is better!!!!

Why are they calling that song "What's Up"? It's called "What's Going On". Anyone who caught HGTR in their new-born infancy would've seen them covering this song believe it or not.
NOPE COMMON MISCONEPTION DAVE I HAPPEN TO LOVE THAT SONG AND SPEAKING OF WHATS UP WHAT IS UP BRO!!!!!!!!
--
WHEN I DRINK I HEAR THINGS THAT AREN'T REALLY THERE HAVE FIST FIGHTS WITH THE AIR IN MY UNDERWEAR
I hate to say it, Dave, but Broman is correct. Look up the HGTR cover video on Youtube for proof. It is indeed "What's Up?".
Hmm...my relative limited knowledge of Three Non-Blondes notwithstanding, I Googled TNB and "What's Going On" was the first thing to pop-up. Perhaps that's because it's such a common misunderstanding. I stand corrected!
BRO...I'LL BE AT THE CHARLOTTE DAVE SHOW IN JULYZZZZ!!!11!! YOU?
Dave, it is a very common misunderstanding.
Taken from their Wikipedia : "They hit the charts in 1993 with "What's Up", their only hit."
It's kind of sad that I even know this. At least it's through HGTR and not 4 Non Blondes. Or at least that's what I tell myself
I have video of Stephen Murray singing that song on my back porch with my kids, neices and nephews playing toy instruments. I don't share it because, as the one holding the fuzzy blackberry videophone, my awful backup vocals are prevalent!
