Planning on just going for the show on Oct. 1. We could sure use an Avett friendly place to stay for Sat night. Don't know the area. Are there hotels nearby without going into town?

I live in Indianapolis and I'm obviously going to the show as well. Although I'm not familiar with that side of town well enough to make any specific recommendations, you should have plenty of options....alot of hotels in and around the city.

I.m going as well but I am staying with family. I think I will be dropped off though.
We're coming in from lil' ol' Charleston, Illinois, I don't know Downtown at all, but when we do Indy, we like to stay in the NW area (we see alotta shows at The Vogue, my 1st Avetts show, f'rinstance) but up around the "Pyramids" there's plenty of cheap rooms, lotsa restaurants (LOVE Famous Dave's - which are not in our area) 2 Goodwills and a big Salvation Army (we're thrift-store hunters) and my favorite grocery in the world, Trader Joe's.
According to GoogleMaps, it looks like about a 13-mile almost-straight drive down Michigan Road to the venue.
So... when/where's the pre-show Party?

You are pretty much in downtown Indy at this venue. Like indyfan said, I can't recommend something specific for you, but you shouldn't have trouble finding something close.

I don't how familiar you are with Indy, but those 13 miles might be the longest of your life. If you are definitely staying on the NW side hit I-465 S and then I-65 S. It will be easier.

Yeah im going to the show as well, and there are some really close hotels to the venue... theres actually one where depending on what room your in you can see the stage from your room.
We are staying at the Spring Hill Suites that overlooks the park. It seems like a decent place.

missb, where would you recommend staying?? I need to get a room booked, too. I am not at all familiar with Indy.

I know there is a Marriot and a Hyatt, along with a dozen more, all within walking distance.
I was at the Indianapolis Venue earlier this month..drove from Chicago to see a concert only to find out it was cancelled once I got there. Band had throat problems?? Whatever. To your questions, the venue is very nice and there is a Marriott across the street. From the looks of it it is probably a little pricey, however it seemed like a very nice place to stay. I do think anything in that particular area of Indy would be expensive.

Does anyone know if there is like a meet and greet or anything with the band...i always am seeing the band with fans in a ton of photos, i wasn't sure if that was a pre show thing or a post show thing...Ive never been to a show before, but if i get to meet Scott and Seth i think my life will be complete. i am just wandering due to all the pictures and a story my cousin told me that when he saw them they were in the audience until like 5 min before the show started just talking with people, any thoughts would be appreciated.

Here are the details of the pre-party. If you are interested, people will be gathering at High Velocity Sports Bar in the JW Marriott. There are just not a lot of bars very close to the venue. We are working on getting some drink specials, but I will update when/if that gets ironed out.

– 5 minute walk to the show
– 3 hours of free parking with receipt from bar (must request voucher from server)
– great place to grab food and drinks before the concert
