Skin & Bones, Traveling Song, St. Joseph's, Incomplete & Insecure... looks like it was a wonderful evening!

Incomplete and Insecure is on my list to hear, Lucky man!

Happy to see Incomplete and Insecure and Traveling Song back in the mix. T, looks like we just missed Distraction again....

For all the hardest roads we have to walk alone.

First Avett Brothers concert and I really enjoyed it bunches. I normally don't listen to this genre or style of music, but I am slowly getting into it. Highlights for me were Colorshow and Paranoia in Bb Major.

Congrats AerixJ on 18 years of marriage! That's freaking awesome for people nowadays. =)

I alway hate checking setlists of shows that I don't attend. Particularly after seeing a few shows. Never want to miss anything. The Incompletet and insecure and a sweet encore. Dang it! I knew I should have gone. Oh well, I see them again in May in Cbus. Sounds like it was a great evening.

i haven't seen the other setlist threads or concert reviews, but was that Samantha Crain's ex-drummer onstage for most of the evening? it really added quite a bit, especially with all of the swooning going on all around me. That mixed tempo Traveling Song was pretty cool. I caught most of the dialogue before Incomplete and Insecure....Seth was setting it up by saying they had only performed it once to this point, mostly because they screwed it up so bad the last time they played it. And it was EVERYONE ELSE's fault, not one iota of his at all (wink wink). I will try and put a few choice cuts up in the next few days on my utube chan.

Congratz AerixJ! this is the second show we've both been to and have not met yet. Let's plan on the next HOB, ok?
Glad i got to see all you funny Avett Heads - finally met Audra and Darryl and Sara and Nate! good to see old friends Zach (and met his lovely wife Abbey - really, such good ppl, i wish we lived closer) - Anj and Mark (remind me about your discs for AA) M.E. - couldn't have got in the show w/out ya, always a pleasure - Amelia, Loren - my bro-ham Matt R. - Jessica + Jo, Erica - MissMonica - and plz, if I met you at the show, contact me as there is only so much i can put in my brain for one night - apologies! the only ppl missing were Ms. Apple and Ms Skittles and Rhonda + Les. Can't tell ya how much that meant to me Rhonda, a free, early entry birthday ticked to a long since sold out show. And then they didn't play one requested song to call you on..........so everytime i take my Josh up to see my Grandma (his G. G. stands for Great Grandma) - she has to give him this big wet sloppy kiss, to the point where he now cringes upon arrival. So the other night, i am tucking Josh into bed and he takes his pacifier out (i know, trying to ween him off) and plants a big drippy kiss on my lips - without missing a beat, in between his s***-eating grin, he says "i just gave you a WET G.G.!!" you're getting a wet G.G. Rhonda when i see you next. Smiling

Chrisvant-- Were you up there near Seth? I thought I might've seen you, as best I can tell by your pix here.

I really loved the heck out of Travelling Song with that slower tempo and the upbeat instrumental bridges.

Tin Man, Murder in the City, St Joseph, Ballad of Love and Hate and Salvation Song were all on my wish list. That rendition of Love and Hate was outstanding. I sure hope someone got a video of it -- I didn't think to grab my iPhone until it was already too late.

We'll have to meet up at HOB. I've got early entry!

I have so much to say about this show...I'm still processing everything. I'll review tomorrow. It was so, so, so wonderfully wonderful.

missed seeing all of you too, Chris! looks like you got some good ones. Esp. since Indy last year was SUCH a great show, would've loved to hit it again this year. What was Seth talking about with Incomplete and Insecure--I've seen it twice--Philly and Boston in October, plus they've played it another time or two besides that. Seth: full of crap, as usual. Smiling
Still confused why they don't play a few of the songs from I and Love and You more often: that, Ill with Want, It Goes On and On, and Ten Thousand Words--all songs they've played live, but only a handful of times.

For all the hardest roads we have to walk alone.

I'm a newbie here. After seeing the show last night, well worth the scalper price I had to pay for the ticket. (I won't let that happen again though). Looking forward to seeing/hearing whatever videos people were able to capture. What a fantastic show!

Man, so jealous of the setlists for these past shows. Why did I move from Ohio!!??

"I wonder which brother is better, which one our parents love the most...he said I love you and I'm proud of you both in so many different ways."

Chris, so glad you were able to get there and had such a great time! I'll look forward to that "wet GG" down the Avett road (too funny!!), but don't forget you have to also give Leslie a "wet GG" too! Those tickets were courtesy of both of us Smiling (and she IS a big lurker here...maybe someday she'll actually join in Eye-wink
We'll be in Ann Arbor next week...woo hoo!!

I gave to you my ugly brown coat, you made it pretty when you put it on....

my 4th Avett show and they just get better and better...i don't feel like it's hyperbole to say that their shows are restorative...i feel refreshed and renewed after this one. It was great to see Ric again and meet ChrisVant and Marley some of the other hardcore Avett fans in his gang....see yall on the road...Merlefest anyone!?!?!?!

Finally got to my first show, looking forward to Cbus and Bonnarroo. Whole thing was ridiculously fantastic, Love and Hate made my night, I went with a friend that I used to perform that song with all the time.

JESSICA!!! remind me to tell you how uncle Rickey + I met for next time.

Rhonda - don't tell Les, but she's in for an Ann Arbor Wet GG too.

AMAZING show and amazing night overall! My 4th show and I finally got to hear Colorshow. I died a little. Smiling I died a lot when, after the show, my friend and I got to meet all of the boys! I'd met Scott and Joe at a hotel in Memphis last September and it was awesome to see them again (Scott remembered me!) but I was thrilled to finally meet Seth and Bob. Seriously, this is the kindest, most sincere, grateful band ever. They spent so much time with every person out there and looked everyone in the eye, shook their hands or hugged them and were completely cool. I just uploaded our pix to the "You and the Band" photo section.

Aw, I wanted to wait around, but I had to be at work at 6 the next morning in Louisville. Sticking out tongue

Fun show, even though we were behind two incredibly drunk girls who made total fools of themselves. Especially attractive was the interpretive dance one of them did at the end of Salina right in front of Seth at the keyboard. I moved after that. Smiling

My friend and I do this "wills & wants" thing, where we each write two songs we think they will do and two songs we want them to do on our hands. I got both of my wills, and she got two wants and one will. Pretty good!

I took some photos at the show if anyone wants to check them out.

Jasmine...You and your friend were right in front of me!
Agreed. Hey, Princess...Pah-lease stop your interpretative dancing. It is difficult enough for this 5'10" girl to see over your even more ginormous boyfriend. I don't need flailing limbs to combat. Go to the rave already.

And, not to be crude...But, I was actually thinking of you guys after the show. You know how it smelled as if someone had poopied in their pants over our way? I met up with some friends after the show that had someone dropping bombs the entire show back in their area, too. It was so bad that he was putting his girl's lotion on his nose so he didn't have to smell it anymore. It was a stinky night in Indianapolis, Boys and Girls.

I think I may have been near all of you as well. Was the girl doing the interpretative dance moves in her 40's with short hair and with a group of girlsin their 20's? I smelled the stench a couple of times near the area I was located. Thank goodness the music was there to capture my attention.

anjanette... it was so great to meet you! You were so sweet to us Smiling Sorry I kind of ran smack into you as I fled the drunk girls. The dance right in front of Seth (did she do one of those throw out the fishing line and reel him in moves??) was the final straw for me.

Z... we were second row from the stage right in front of the keyboard, with the drunk girls on the rail. One of them had short blonde hair, looked in her 20s, the other one was older, probably late 30s with a brown shoulder length, mom-esque hairstyle.

The stench, man. I thought I was going to pass out! That was truly disgusting. I really think it was one of the girls!

This was such a great show for so many reasons! It's always great meeting everyone and seeing everyone again. Chris and Angie - can't wait to see you guys again soon on the road! The KY ladies (and their lovely body guard) are always on my must see list. =)

I really loved the dialog of this show. The boys seemed more talkative then normal. Daryl and I laughed for days over the "hot swamp" and Seth's look after he said it. Chris - I hope you got that on tape!

Be LOUD! Let your colors show!

Hey, you guys who were more up front -- what was with that one girl who was escorted out by security? It was kind of early on the the TAB set.

Chris -- Hope to see you tonight at HOB. I'll be wearing a white t-shirt with a red "pie" logo that says "EAT PIE" on it. (One of my avocations is pie baking; I first really took in Emotionalism while baking a blueberry pie. I'll never be able to eat a slice of blueberry pie without hearing "I Would Be Sad.")

This classy gent has posted 14/21 songs from that night. Haven't listened yet cause my sound is broken, but it looks good to me!

Resurrecting this thread to say that this was my first Avett show and it was amazing!

Tickets sold out before I could afford one. Somehow I ended up finding two VIP tickets for a steal! Took one of my best guy friends and we ended up sitting with Jacob's family. I had originally intended on being against the barricade but drinking beers in the VIP lounge clouded my ability to tell time. Anyways, when Jacob's family introduced themselves to me, I felt like an idiot because I didn't think there was a drummer. Then he came out to visit w/ them and I got a photo.

I couldn't see the stage very well so I just danced, danced, danced my little heart out. I've known my date of the evening since 1997 and he said he had no idea that I could be so fun. (Gee thanks)

I'm looking forward to checking out the youtube streams of a couple people who have posted in this thread. I wish I had this show on my iPod for pure satisfaction alone. I met a lot of cool people after the show while we froze our bottoms off to talk to the fellas. I can't wait for them to come back to Indianapolis!

Now that I see this set list, it makes me ill also. I thought I knew quite a few songs then but I've since become way more intimate with their catalog. Wish I could relive this again today, tomorrow, always.
