Iowa City...Best show yet!!!
Just got back from the Iowa City show, and I am kicking myself for not following it up with the Maddison show! This was the best show of theirs yet! So much energy, and the songs just kept on coming! Just off the new album, I think they played all but 3 songs. Plus, they played a lot of the older stuff I never would have expected. Distraction #74, Ballad of Love and Hate, and many others. I was kinda hoping for Wanted Man, but not upset that they didn't play it though. Also, I did not get any picks this time. The last couple times, I was able to get a couple picks off of Scott, but nothing this time around. I was hoping to get the skin from his banjo pot, but he did not offer to me. Can't wait for the next show!!! You guys are my heros!!!!

I dream of owning the banner that hangs from the keyboard. I've had a chance to grab it, but I'm too honest & true for that

I actually had a dream after the concert last night that I ran into Scott after the show, and he said if I could prove I was his number one fan, I could have his banjo. To prove I in fact was a loyal fan, I picked up the whole theater so he didn't have to. Yes, I realize that he would not have had to do this, but its a dream...I had no control. Plus, I didn't get the Black Diamond either!
Iowa City...awesome awesome awesome.
Gotta wait until March for the next one....Minneapolis.

This was definitely one of the best shows I've seen! I tend to think that after every concert, but the boys were on fire last night. Plus, the crowd was quieter than any concert I've been to, which was a nice change--no random talking during Ballad of Love and Hate!
On a side note, how did you get a pick from Scott? Did you just hang around the bus afterward until they came out?
I think they just randomly come flying at you during the show, from what we saw, lol
that guy during love and hate should have been kicked out!!!
tinndn...maybe it's time to resurrect this thread:

Done and done
The Iowa City show was unreal. There were 8 of us that drove down from Minneapolis. The most exciting part was meeting Seth and Scott as they came off the elevator in the hotel and then meeting Joe on the street.
They are unreal - this was my favorite show of theirs yet, aside from seeing them at the Gorge in Washington - only because of the amazing views!
This was my first Avett Brothers show, and I was simply blown away. I was in awe at one point--my husband actually asked me what was wrong, and I couldn't even answer him. I had no idea how amazing they were in concert. I've heard other folks describe an Avett Brother concert as a tent revival, and I think that's the best possible description I've read yet. I'm converted and haven't listened to any other band since the show.
So happy to know that long-time Avett fans thought the show was terrific. I've got tickets to Milwaukee and hope to go to Chicago the next night. Can't wait!
Thank you to whoever put up some videos of this concert! Yes, msco, it was amazing! I loved that the crowd was quiet during the slower songs--I could hear everything Scott and Seth were doing on the guitars during 10,000 words.

hey guys, im new to the boards, and wanted to share my concert stories like the rest of yall. hmmmm, my first taste of TAB came earlier this year. Im a DMB man all the dam way, and had just received tix to the alpharetta,GA show. I saw that TAB was the opening act. Ive never heard of them before, and figured oh well, i can endure anything for an hour as long as dave mathews is to follow.I know, i know..
The venue was remarkable, im from bama, so the georgia differences rung true in many ways. any way...it was barely dark when TAB hit the stage, and as the songs began to pour from the stage, i was overwhelmed at how good they really were. One song in particular caught me off guard, and became my truly favorite. The greatest sum spoke to me, and even held my attention on into the dmb show, and the countless coronas and appletinis.. just wanted to say thanks guys.
welcome aboard, fatasjerk!
Wait until you see a show where they are the main act!
