This was a very mellow show. Seemed to me that the guys were a bit tired, Scott forgot the words to PIBFM, also seems like they were bickering a bit.
They sounded very good. Scott broke a couple strings, Seth broke none.
Anybody else?

I thought Scott started off reserved, but then his energy (and then the whole mood) seemed to really increase and to me, it looked like he was having fun, but he seemed pretty intense (not that he isn't usually.) Thought Seth started off stronger, but seemed like he wasn't feeling great. I love when stuff like the Paranoia thing happen--it was pretty funny and Scott seemed really amused by the whole thing. Still thought it was a great show and good setlist (made me feel much better after the NYE run) and was so happy to see them after two months!!

Wish me luck, I know you think I'll need it.
For all the hardest roads we have to walk alone.
i definitely agree.. the show seemed to pick up after Shame and turned into what i was hoping for.

Only have seen them before in 10/09 in Philly and they seemed very tired at that concert. I think too it seemed Scott warmed up and cut loose a little more towards the second half of the show. I guess by TAB standards the show was mellow but it was electric to me!

World out side just goes...
I haven't seen them in a year or so, are all of their shows this slow these days? The pace was set by the opening band. Never seen them before, not a big fan. I guess I'm just longing for the high energy shows that used to blow me away.
i think it was a great show. but it was my first tab show and well worth the 5 1/2 drive in the snow. i loved the theater but was not too impressed with Ithaca.

What didn't you like about Ithaca? It's tough to judge a city fairly when it's under 2' of new snow. Although, I thought it was beautiful, snow and all!

not impressed with Ithaca? Come on, dude. Was it the snow? I love my town!
I loved Ithaca. Drove over 4 hours from Canada. Worth the drive. (Came before the snow) People were so welcoming and friendly. I would go back any day. I too, wondered about them being tired, but when you look at their schedule and the conditions, I don't know how they do it. I have over 100 songs of theirs on my Ipod. You can't hear it all and they did say they felt comfortable in Ithaca and played a lot of older songs. With all the TV appearances, you see them do 1 or 2 songs with lots of support and they just have to do their thing without the extra worries. I loved the show and even though I love the wild stuff, Seth did some lovely singing solo. (ok biased here) I'd go back anytime. Thank you Ithaca and Avetts.
Thanks for the YouTube link for Laundry Room "Z"!
Thanks for that video, zylizdylei! Love hearing it again. Plus I couldn't remember during which song it was that Seth went down on his knees.
I, too, thought it was a little subdued, but the choice of songs made up for that and more. So many great tunes! After the worry brought on by the set lists during the New Year's run, it was such a relief to hear stuff like Backwards with Time and Raliegh. Phew!
I thought the Low Anthem were pretty good. Not the most upbeat, but the music was good. Best opener for the Avetts I've seen is Langhorn, but I guess he can't be at every show. Or could he.....
wow, wow, wow, i'm a bit surprised, yes it's been 7 months from the last show, but i thought it was GREAT. The low anthem wow, i came in pretty blind on them, but they blew me away. At times i felt like i was in a fishing bar in boston, but damn i thought they were awesome. and like KCJONEZ it's hard to top Langhore opening, but much better than Chitlin. what a bad night that was.
As for the show. I thought a great mix of songs, old and new. thought if funny when it seemed the audience disappeared during the song from a Carolina Jubilee" newbies! and in my opinion blew away last years show at ithaca.
took my teenage cousins to the show. first time Avett show for them. they haven't stopped talking about it,
thanks for another wonderful evening
Taryn I sent you a PM.

I’ll come back home without my things/
‘Cause the clothes I wore out there/
I will not wear around you
got you back, Jackie!
Well don't take it personal but most of the people I know hyped the town up so high it I may have been hard to live to my expectations. The snow didn't bother me at all. I liked the Hilton very nice place great service. Beautiful room with great views. I could see the theater from my window. Viva fresh and healthy Mexican restaurant was horrible. No way the food was fresh. It seemed everything was pre cooked and kept lukewarm and slapped together when you placed the order. Then served @ room temp after a few bites it went right in the garbage. Most of the other food i had all weekend was good. Wife was excited about shopping but most stores were out of business and the few that were open were had limited selection and high pricing. I would come back for a show @ the theater and would likely enjoy it more in the summer. When I could check out the falls. Most of the people i meet were nice and helpful. Great show.

We also drove from Canada to Ithaca for the show. Thought the show was incredible! I fell in love with Ithaca (again). I wish we could have spent more time there
Must've had a bad night at Viva--I love that place. Unfortunately the downtown area is lacking because the guy who pretty much owns all the buildings has been increasing rent and making it hard for local businesses to get by. A lot of the businesses there sell from small, local vendors, which could explain the high prices. Sorry the Wal-Mart isn't downtown. Regardless, Ithaca is a wonderful community to live in and I will defend it! haha.
I for one loved Ithaca and look forward to going back when it's a bit warmer and I'm able to explore it a bit more. Taryn, consider that my advance notice to crash @ your joint.

Ain't it like most people, I'm no different, we love to talk on things we don't know about.
Yay! Consider this my advance invite. I love to play tour guide!
Well its great you love your town as you should. As for the Wal-Mart comment your way off not a fan of Wal-Mart. I have a friend in Trumansburg that laughed when I told him I went to Viva. He said that place is the worst but the burrito place he recommended was out of business. But everybody has a opinion and we all have different tastes in food. I just know next time to try someplace else and remember I never said it that Ithaca was terrible. I just stated I didn't think it was as impressive as all my friends that raved about it. Maybe a summer visit may change my mind.

This was my first Avetts show. I planned to see them the last two times they were here, but I had mono the first time and was on crutches the second time. Needless to say, I was a little paranoid in the weeks leading up to the show! It was great to be able to walk to a concert, considering I usually have to go on long road trips to see the bands I really want to. I went in with high expectations, and amazingly the band lived up to them. I couldn't believe how much energy there was, and it only took a handful of songs for me to understand why so many of my friends are willing to travel so far to see the band. They quickly became one of the few bands I'll travel far and wide for. There were a few songs I was hoping to hear that they didn't play, but that's just all the more reason to go see them again!
I really like living in downtown Ithaca, but I'm actually not a fan of Viva. I've always had pretty lousy service, and the food has been inconsistent. Your friend was probably referring to That Burrito Place on the Commons, but it didn't stick around long because of the sky-high rent. It's a shame, because I thought the burritos there were a lot better.
I've definitely gotten a burrito from That Burrito Place that had nearly uncooked rice in it. I think they still have a location in Collegetown, if you're aching for some.
Hey! Nice to see someone on here who lives in Ithaca too.
