Jubliee

I wish, wish, wish the Avett's would get the Jubilee back together and take it cross country. What does this country need more than a revival of spirit? And what better way than for TAB and friends to take it out on the road! They certainly revive my love of life and general good will for all humanity every time I listen and clearly there are so many who feel the same way. It's time to unite this musical revolution and the community that has sprung from it and spread the love across the land!

Not sure I'd call it a revolution. Movement, yeah. But, what do you think they've been doing for the last 9 years?

I'll admit my motives aren't entirely pure; there is only one person I would go see over The Avett Brothers and that is Langhorne Slim. It would be my idea of heaven to see them play together; preferably on the same stage. So far I live too far north to catch any chance of that, so what I need is for them to go out on the road. However, beyond my fantasies, there is a message and a feeling within the music and the community at large that is beautiful. It's about simplicity of being human. We all have heartache, disappointments, and times in our lives when we've been less than our best or even downright cruel but in the end we take what we can from the experience and move forward, hopefully a little wiser. On a larger scale, I think people will agree it's been a difficult time for America and Americans; we've spent the last few years bickering with the world and each other but this music offers optimism and a chance to put aside your politics, your fear, your worries and say "Hey, you know what, tonight I'm just going to dance and sing and enjoy being with others who feel the same." It's a back to basics reflection of the ideal society where all you really need to be happy is good music and good people. Plus, I'd love to see this new style of music grow from a smoldering fire to a raging inferno, which I firmly believe it would if they stacked all their aces into one cross-country, old school revival.

Are you referring to the Avett Jubliee / Essex that took place back in Fall of 2006?

That was a great time - so many great acts and a full day's worth of music.... I remember being jaw dropped to see 2,000 folks show up at Verizon Wireless.... thats just pennies on the dollar today, but was quite the showing back then....

Thanks Sunday for posting those links! It was watching those clips and thinking how awesome that must have been that led to this train of thought. Just to clarify for others what I'm talking about; I'd like to see the Avett Brothers head up a tour consisting of the best in this new genre or movement, if you will, of music and take it across country. Ideally with enough groups to make a day of it and enough dates and venues so that no one has to miss out. It would be a tour everyone would talk about to their grandchildren.

Love the videos. That's the best Diamonds and Gold I have ever seen from Langhorne. I wish I had been there.
