Wish they'd come a little farther north...DC, Baltimore. I really enjoy what I've heard.

there's only one thing here worth hoping for
Hey Stirred!
JLB is from DC and used to have standing dates in town- they might have dropped them in light of the tour, but Lissy lives in DC.
They are in that region frequently.
OR- in my living room. They like to stay with the Swords when they hit our neck of the woods. Branch loves his Lissy.
really? That's good to know! Surely they will have a show that I can catch sometime!

March 19th @ The Rock and Roll hotel is the next D.C date
Listening to some of their stuff on myspace right now - they have a video of the lead singer singing "Dreams" with Jim Avett on a porch swing. One of the more charming things I've seen lately. Dig their music, thanks for the tip!

Ain't it like most people, I'm no different, we love to talk on things we don't know about.
Hot damn! They're playing in NYC tomorrow night!!! I have a day-long bluegrass/fundraising festival that I'm going to but I will definitely be heading to Manhattan after that to see them. Wooooot!

do you have the link to the Dreams Video with Jim?
Heids, you walk right up to Lissy and tell her that Katie, Parker and Branch Sword miss her very much. Have a great show! You will not be disappointed!
Sorry - here's the link for the Dreams video, should have included it in my original post. It's on FB, so I'm not entirely sure you can watch it if you don't have an account:

Katie, I'm uber-shy when it comes to talking to bands, but if I gather up enough courage (liquid or no), I will be sure to pass along your message!!

Temporary is my time, Ain't nothin on this world that's mine, Except the will I found to carry on.
Free is not your right to choose, It's answering what's asked of you, To give the love you find until it's gone.
Heids, if you do talk to her, tell her it's the 2nd best version of Dreams on Jim Avett's porch swing ever!!!

Wish me luck, I know you think I'll need it.
For all the hardest roads we have to walk alone.
Jen: HA! You've seen first-hand why I'm apprehensive about talking to musicians - I wind up putting my foot down my throat.
They were really really excellent. Eli and I suffered through a day of bad music yesterday - including a horrible cover of "I and Love and You" that very nearly inspired a beer bottle to be thrown at the band, but I give them an A for effort at least. Anyway, Junior League was great - really high energy, lots of fun and even inspired Eli and I to dance a bit - usually a no-go for us at shows. One thing I noticed - their music is really sexy. Not in a raunchy kind of way, but there's something about their music that makes you want to cut a rug with someone cute. I recommend anyone catch them if possible, and I'd really like to see a longer set sometime (they were one of four bands playing and only did 45 minutes).

Indeed I have.
A cover of I and Love and You sounds like a really really bad idea to begin with. what was the instrumentation? describe how it was bad, please. sounds amusing.
I kinda wish I'd known about them before (or just paid attention) and I'd have caught them around here. The name is familiar so I've def. seen them in ads for upcoming shows. the only show they are playing around here in the next couple of months will be when I'm out of town. oh well, maybe they'll fill in some gaps in their tour schedule.

Instrumentation was lead singer on keys, with drums and electric guitar substituting for the bass and cello? Not ok. Vocals were BAD. It almost sounded like the guy was trying to do a southern accent while he was singing. He invited the crowd to sing along if they knew the words and while I'm a huge fan of sharing the Avetts with the masses, I was a little gratified that the lion's share of the douchey NYU crowd didn't know the words. One sassy black girl dancing in the front knew them though, and THAT made me very happy. After they were done, Eli started screaming "COLORSHOW!!!!" They didn't oblige. Fortunately.
I really do want more people to be exposed to the Avetts, and I would have loved to have seen a good cover, but we had sat through literally 6 hours of mediocre to bad music at this point and my patience was waning.

What was the bands name that was bad? So I know not to go see them hahaha
Glad you liked Junior League Band - ....man they rock. I agree, sexy/sultry performance...I'm pumped to hear them on WDVX!
Speaking of Junior League Band and TAB covers, here's a video I stumbled across of them doing Backwards With Time:
