Was already excited about this show (will watch ANYTHING w/ Peter Krause) and now I learn that Kick Drum Heart is going to be in the first episode? AWESOME!

It's answering what's asked of you
To give the love you find until it's gone
the show looks really, really sappy, but i do love me some kdh

decide what to be and go be it.
The show does look a little sappy, but the movie was also sappy and it's one of my all time favorites.
One again, I trust in the power of Krause. He wouldn't steer me wrong. I hope.

Ain't it like most people, I'm no different, we love to talk on things we don't know about.
HAHAHA... Heids, I had the DVR set this weekend for that show (Krause was great in 6 feet under) That is so funny! Kick Drum Heart just set's it all in stone.
I think that show looks great. I hope to catch the first few minutes, but I've gotten caught up in "The Good Wife" that airs at the same time on CBS (it's also a good show, but I could probably drop it if necessary), so I won't be able to watch the whole thing.

So jealous, guys! I don't have TV.
I have to get what I can from Hulu and whatever network offers good clips.
thrilled that the Avetts are getting air time
I don't even know what it is but they tweeted it. So I will watch

Just saw it. It was such a fitting opening. I liked it! Also, I have a crush on Peter Krause, so it's so worth it!

Yep. it was a nice fit. Quick, though....

I have rules. Never eat or drink in underwear or pajamas/Scott Avett
Two great songs by my two favorite artists in the first 15 minutes. A couple of actors that I really like. An Asperger's story line - I am surrounded by speech pathologists: wife and both daughters. How can the show suck so badly?

Rejoice always, Mark
The show has gone downhill after KDH.

I love Lauren Graham, and these types of shows with lots of intertwining storylines tend to take some time to get into it. I'm hoping it'll be good--gonna give it a shot....

Wish me luck, I know you think I'll need it.
For all the hardest roads we have to walk alone.
Everything hangs on good writing. Bad writing doesn't turn into good writing. This is not the way people behave or talk.

if they regularly include TAB, I'll keep watching.
if not, I agree with bobzimmerman. bad writing is just inherently bad. can't do anything about it.

A...E...I...O(we)...(yo)U nothing.
A...E...I('m) fine.
Not a nad show, but I wish Ron Howard could have kept "Arrested Development" going. I also wish Avett's would have gotten a little more play time.

But their good times come with prices
And I can't believe it when I hear the jokes they make
At anyone's expese except their own
Would they laugh if they knew who paid?
Hmm...I didn't get to see it, but my expectations from the 1651486546 previews were not for bad writing. I expected witty banter. Unfortunately, it sounds like the reality falls short of my expectations. I really thought the show had looked pretty good.

I thought of Arrested Development after watching this too. The ridiculously uber-disfunctional family bit has been done before. No show will be able to top what Arrested Development did with this plotline. They were able to do more and do better with 30 minutes than Parenthood did with an hour. I watched the whole thing, but frankly it gave me a headache. Too many things happened:
the Mom daughter fight
the bloody nose caused by Grandpa
the Asperger's discovery
the cousins getting arrested
the son running away
the sperm in the fridge
the illegitimate child discovery
the coach getting fired,. banned, and possibly sued
the matchmaker dispute
the mom getting caught in her undies
... ... ... !!
It was almost like the difference between the Si swimsuit issue and an outright smut mag. Leave something to the imagination would you?
Sorry, I guess I got carried away there.

Whatever happened to character development?

if anybody missed it go to hulu. it was only like 30 sec so it takes no time to watch

"But I can't go back, and I don't want to,
'cause all my mistakes, they brought me to you"
It was soooo exciting seeing the show open and immediately hearing that piano pounding out KDH! So happy that more people are expose to TAB even if its only for twenty seconds...congrats guys!
Jeeptruck...you were dead on with your post!

Jeeptruck, I am with Addicted on Arrested Development. Brilliant show
All should give it a shot. ..."Hey, brother"
Watched Hulu for the song. Surreal
jeeptruck86, your comment is made even more humorous by the fact that Ron Howard directed the original movie Parenthood and this new show, but was also the narrator and an executive producer of Arrested Development... Maybe he just likes dysfunctional families, haha
I would definitely say that this new show does not match up to the original movie Parenthood (a classic) or Arrested Development (greatest comedy TV show of all time.)
And also: "plot overstuffing" (as I like to call it) is a very common thing in a show's pilot. I'll hope that it won't be quite so hard to follow in time.
I'd probably have no interest in this show if it weren't for Ron Howard's involvement, the original film, and the Avett Brothers song opening the episode. So... I'll give it a few more viewings to try to win me over.
Just saw that it was free on itunes....
