I'm not very wordy, all I can say is, I didn't think I could love them anymore than I already did, but they proved me wrong with this show. I think it's epic that they sold out the show despite the difficulties of getting their albums here. I thank my lucky stars that my business travel aligned with this show.

Last night was my first Avett Brothers show. All I can say is that it was right up at the top of my best live experiences. I don't know how it compares to other Avett crowds, but The Garage was packed and really up for it last night. I don't think the band were expecting a crowd and venue as good as that. Hopefully they'll be as good as their word when Seth said that "it looks like we need to get over here more often."
I'm not that up on the titles of some of their pre-Emotionalism stuff, but I think they must have played a fair bit of stuff some real fans were looking for. I think the set list has been published on the Set List board, but personal highlights for me were:
Salina - I love this song!
The Ballad Of Love And Hate - Seth alone, this was amazing.
I & Love & You - this song keeps growing and growing the more I hear it.
At The Beach - I didn't expect this, but was super excited when we got it.
If there was a God I would have got to hear Laundry Room, Shame, Go To Sleep, and my current favourite January Wedding. I would love to have heard those, but I'm not complaining at all. It was an incredible gig. I went with three people who hadn't heard the band before and they all loved it, that's three more converts I'm sure! I'm seriously looking to see if there are any European dates I can get to.
An interesting end to the gig. Three guys were on the verge of a fist fight caused by some over exuberant dancing! I was tempted to step in and say, "Three words that became hard to say........."
I had a brilliant time last night at my first Avett Brothers gig - outstanding!!!
I was just wondering what percentage of the audience were actually from London/England? Great to hear so many American accents in the crowd but it would be great to get an idea of how much they have actually penetrated the English music scene so far..
Truly a great show last night!!!! I was a fan from the last two records but was lown away live by the guys passion and energy - wonderful!!!
Yes quite a few Americans in the crowd as they have a growing following in the US. I think its safe to say the venue will be quite a bit larger after the new labum is released over in the UK in April.....
It was amazing. Really won over the London crowd which is no easy feat. My second show and I need more. Had serious post gig blues...like the end of a great holiday. Get back over here asap.
Tuesday was the second time I've seen them live, first time in Roanoke VA. They were so amazing and had so much energy on stage they blew me away. I met Bob Crawford in a restaurant prior to the show, he was so lovely and took his time to speak to me and my friend and wish me happy birthday, he even asked what song i'd like them to play, I asked for 'if it's the beaches' and they actually played it. I've been on clud nine ever since can't wait to see them again.
This was the first time I'd seen the guys live and what an incredible experience! I'd only heard the latest album (which I bought when it was released last year - guess there must be an official 're-release' in April to tie in with the tour?) and I didn't expect quite so much energy. Fantastic night - and yes - it was a great mix of English and Americans in the audience - only downside for me was having to leave early to catch my train back down to Surrey. Best gig I've been to in ages - really looking forward to seeing them at Koko in London on June 24th - I have my ticket already and I'll be booking myself into a hotel so I don't miss a minute!!
They're going back to London in June, they're going to WI in July. Neither date is on the tour page of this site. I wonder why. It would be nice. I hate the idea of them getting to the west coast and me not knowing about it.

AK Kate, www.songkick.com is a good site for hearing about gigs (often before they are posted on artists' sites). Although it doesn't have that July gig you are talking about...

AK, London England?????
London in June? Really?
The London gig was amazing! I only had one problem and that was with another fan. He was seriously ruining it for all of us around him. He kept talking about how he was on something and how it was the only way to experience music. He also kept jumping up and down as if he was at a metal concert. No harm in enjoying yourself, but not at the expense of others' enjoyment. Not only was he careless with his swinging arms and whatnot, but he was also screaming every lyric to the point where it overshadowed the music, not to mention he was making banjo noises or whatever instrument was being played when they weren't singing. He kept trying to fight the older gentleman in front of him and kept bumping into the guy to his right until he had to leave his spot. We finally had enough and had to go up to the bar area for the remainder of the concert. I'm pretty sure that if I ever saw that guy again I would remember him and I would be inclined to push him in front of a bus. Let's hope he's out of town for the next show.
Buying June 24th London tickets tomorrow! How exciting!
