I know there was a topic about it somewhere but I am going to start another one, what did everyone think about last nights episode(s)?

Replies for this Board Topic
It was awesome! I'm rewatching the DVR in just a sec. Parker and I are disagreeing about who everyone was. The catch-up show was clutch for me. I needed that.
i gotta re-watch too.. probably do that tonight.... I thought it was great... going to be interesting to see how everything unfolds....
So do ya'll think that Jacob has consumed Sayid's body?.... he looked a little too puzzled for it to be Jacob, IMO.... but we'll see

Well Locust, Mount Pleasant, Concord.... LETS GOOO!
there was def. a lot of stuff going on....the two separate realities is going to be great.
"So do ya'll think that Jacob has consumed Sayid's body?.... he looked a little too puzzled for it to be Jacob, IMO.... but we'll see"
i never thought it was jacob, but i am sure i missed something....prob. missed a ton........gonna have to watch it one more time
the plane scene was awesome, it was like everything was different from the first time but the same.
"So do ya'll think that Jacob has consumed Sayid's body?.... he looked a little too puzzled for it to be Jacob, IMO.... but we'll see"
i thought that was the idea. maybe he looked puzzled just to throw us off. i thought when they were pulling him out of the water and his arms were splayed out like someone on a cross it was making him out to be jesus/jacob.
the way it's going it's definitely going to be interesting.

Burn the questions. Burn the shame.
It has to be jacob. Jacob approached hurley and only he could see him. He told him exactly where to go and gave him the guitar case that needed to get in. I dont know what the message said inside the case but it has something to do with jacob. Maybe this is his loophole to kill new locke/smoke monster.
Very strong season premiere. I think we are in for a good ride.

anyone catch last nights episode?
yep - kind of dispelled the theory that Sayid was "jacob"..... Its going t be interesting to see what happens with this "sickness" that is spreading and HOLY CLAIRE... going to be interesting to how this all shakes out... i can definitely see a battle of good and evil at the end

the last time we saw claire was in jacobs cabin with "jacks dad" who i guess was the man in black. so does that mean the man in black made her sick.

"But I can't go back, and I don't want to,
'cause all my mistakes, they brought me to you"
Just some thoughts:
- Dogen reminds me of Joe Kwon.
- Ethan was on the island when the plane crashed, but yet he was in LA when Claire went into labor. Is he already living a parallel life? Do all others live parallel lives?
- Claire is the new Rousseau. Rousseau always babbled about a sickness. I think its the same thing Dogen was talking about. Claire also set the traps that Kate used to escape and that caught Jen.

claire is the new rousseau. in the new reality the island was underwater, so ethan did not grow up on the island. i think ethan and his mother would have evacuated the island before the bomb went off, so he just grew up living a normal life. if from the time the bomb went off the island was underwater, does that mean that the charlotte is still alive (she would have never came back to the island if it is underwater), juliet would have never been recruited by Richard to come to the island. a lot of things can happen in this other reality, i just wonder how they will tie the two together.

"But I can't go back, and I don't want to,
'cause all my mistakes, they brought me to you"
True, true. I was in the mindset of thinking the new reality was the result of the plane not crashing instead of the bomb being detonated.

i thought the exact same thing about a battle between good and evil
Jack has a kid!! Does anyone else feel like that is kind of cheating, i feel like that is something we should have known by now that they can't just add.
--
"But I can't go back, and I don't want to,
'cause all my mistakes, they brought me to you"
Yeah, so about this kid thing, does David only exist in underwater island alternate universe land, or does he exist while they're on the island too? I mean, it's kind of strange for Jack not to mention anything or get a significant look on his face or something when Hurley said he thought Jack would make a good dad. Like you said, the island being underwater since 1976(?) creates the potential for a lot of things to be different, so maybe Jack's reproductive history is one of those? Or maybe we really are supposed to believe that he's had a secret kid all this time that we just never knew about, in which case I call b.s.
Oh, and I think there are some pretty obvious parallels between Claire and Rousseau, but they're also kind of fundamentally opposites since Rousseau was the only one who managed not to get infected and Claire is apparently very infected, right?
It's really hard for me to keep everything straight. I've been watching since day one, but I've never re-watched the seasons.Things that happened nine months ago are kind of fuzzy for me, much less the stuff that happened in season one like 5 and a half years ago. I've probably forgotten more important stuff than I remember
--
"I've never been too good at readin' in between the lines."
@katmielli
after thinking about it today i do think the kid only exist in the alternate world. i think the mom will turn out to be someobody we already know and be real suprinsing. maybe....Juilet, they had a fling in med school and it didn't work out. do you remember adam and eve that they talked about again last night, they are from season 1? that is going way back
--
"But I can't go back, and I don't want to,
'cause all my mistakes, they brought me to you"
They teased us with that Adam and Eve thing last night. When all that time travel stuff came into play last year a lot of people were predicting it was going to be some of the 815 survivors.. I could see Davids mom being someone we already know, though I do hope it isnt Juliet.
oh your one of those people. LOL. i love juliet, my girlfriend hates her. i was just thinking juliet because it would be her and jack's connection. it seems like they are tyring to show no matter what it was destiny and these people are connected. getting better, can't wait to see next week
--
"But I can't go back, and I don't want to,
'cause all my mistakes, they brought me to you"
Shoot, I don't remember the Adam and Even thing at all. What's the deal with that?
EDIT: Oh, nevermind, I looked it up. I knew those corpses looked familiar
--
"I've never been too good at reading in between the lines."
i was so happy to see that they brought that up. i have been waiting every season for them to address that and they never have. the obvious answer is rose and bernard but i think it will be somebody else
--
"But I can't go back, and I don't want to,
'cause all my mistakes, they brought me to you"
I think it'd be nice and symmetrical if it turned out to be Jack and Kate since they were the ones who found them, but that just seems way too predictable.
--
"I've never been too good at reading in between the lines."
Its not that I dont like Juliet. Shes my favorite girl on the show actually...It's just shes Sawyers woman. On and off Island.
got it. the whole square of jack sawyer kate juilet gets on my nerves
--
"But I can't go back, and I don't want to,
'cause all my mistakes, they brought me to you"
As long as Jack and Sawyer don't make out in the end, I'm cool.

"The words you wish your head didn't say are the ones their heart will hold onto the longest." -- Bill Mallonee
So whats this adam and eve reference? I must have missed it
"Oh, and I think there are some pretty obvious parallels between Claire and Rousseau, but they're also kind of fundamentally opposites since Rousseau was the only one who managed not to get infected and Claire is apparently very infected, right?"
I think you could be right about Claire and Rousseau being opposites. Rousseau was right about her baby having been taken but Claire is not right in thinking that. I almost seems that once Rousseau died the Island needed another person to assume her duties on the Island.
One thing I know is that the girl needs a flipp'n brush. Even Rousseau looked better than that.
@avettactivist re: adam and eve http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Adam_and_Eve
"One thing I know is that the girl needs a flipp'n brush. Even Rousseau looked better than that."
Ha ha. Very true, and Rousseau was there for almost twenty years. Claire's only been there for three, and she's lookin mighty rough
--
"I've never been too good at reading in between the lines."
i wonder if claire was going through time also, if so was she just living in the jungle during the 70's?

Tonight: Questions WILL be Answered! Yeah, right...
But anyway, I have no idea what to think at this point. I love this show, and have been watching since day one. Like you guys, I've forgotten most of the intricate details of past seasons. I'm deeply engrossed in this season so far...
I will ask one thing though; why did Jack smash the Lighthouse mirrors so hastily? He could have seen where all the other mirror-locations were for the other "candidates". I know he's upset, but damn, those mirrors held some potentially advantageous information!
The main question for me is: Who is Jacob? Who is in Locke's body? Why is Richard ageless? What's up with the alternate time lines? I have many more questions but those seem to stick out in my mind.
Anyway, stoked for tonight!
--
It's not the chase that I love - it's me following you.
My first reaction when Jack smashed the mirrors was literally "Oh, no he didn't!" I have a friend who would argue that he smashed them because he's a self-righteous jerk who thinks he's God's gift to man and therefore entitled to do whatever he wants and to tell everyone else what to do as well. We argue about this A LOT. She's a Sawyer fan who bashes Jack all the time. I do the best I can to stick up for him, but I have to admit, the light house thing was kind of a "WTF" moment for me.
Anyway, I'm sure any answers we get tonight will be more than made up for with new questions, but I'm excited anyway
--
"I've never been too good at reading in between the lines."
the reason jack smashed the mirrors is so they don't have to give us any answers. it's never that easy. I can't watch tonight because my girlfriend is out of town and i told her i would wait (ok collectively girls aaaaaaahhhhh, now guys, whip!!) it will kill me to see this thread get populated over the next couple of days and not be able to look at it but as soon as we watch i will be on here to let you know what i think.

"But I can't go back, and I don't want to,

johnh,
i, too, have an agreement with my sweetie that i will not watch LOST without her if it's a new episode. it's actually a really good point-earner (altho i know relationships are not about points; i'm totally kidding!). LOST is (for us) sort of an adventure we have together, and neither one of us is the "leader," we just kind of watch and discuss possibilities.
lockwes,
i too had a thought that dogen looks kinda like joe! but i'm pretty dang positive joe's not evil, and my jury's out on dogen still, leaning towards evil for him...altho when he shows up at david's piano recital, he appears to give a benevolent message, which makes him more joe-like. hmmph.
also, i would LAUGH MY BUTTOCKS OFF if jack & sawyer smooched at the end!!!!! SCREW the whole jack-juliet-kate-sawyer quadrangle! now THAT would be a "WTF?!?!?!!?" twist
"holy claire," indeed! i'm curious to know more of her story since she kinda fell off the radar awhile ago.
my present theory is that the island is some kind of experiment by at least demi-humans (kind of like when lisa simpson puts her tooth in a jar with cola and some chemical reaction generates a bunch of teeny life forms inside the jar, one of whom is shown nailing a document to a church door, and she says, "I've created Lutherans!") to see what a specific group of people would do under very controlled circumstances...i.e. what moral choices people would make, how quickly the "us vs. them" dynamic (invariably) occurred across groups/times/settings. i think the dharma initiative was a part of that experiment, intentional on a macro/greater-than-human scale, but also enacted by & through the microcosm of the largely truly-human dharma initiative "community"...like if god was a scientist doing a social experiment who also had angels (or something) taking part in and having an effect on that experiment. i don't know if i've explained it very well, but that's what i think. speculating for me is half the fun of LOST

"There will be answers" my ass. It's a lie. It's a lie
Oh well, the "oh s***" look on Ben's face as he backed away from Sayid was priceless. I suck at big picture speculation when it comes to Lost. I formulate theories about things here and there, but mostly I sit back and enjoy the ride, which I know is not the way most people watch this particular show. But to be honest, I just end up confusing myself when I try to wrap my head around the big questions

"I've never been too good at reading in between the lines."
Good episode last night, def action packed. I'm definately over trying to figure out this show, I'm now just along for the ride.

"Time is Art, You are Love, Peace is Now."
I have to agree with "leedle". Stopped trying to figure it out and now am just watching to see if anything I thought is correct.

I wanna have friends...that I can trust...that love me for the man
I've become not the man that I was.
They will never answer anything their gonna keep creating questions and leave everybody angry when its all over
Agreed. The series is going to end on a Battlestar Galactica note, where the creators realize that they raised too many questions for the answers to fall together and that the past few seasons have been going episode by episode without the greater plot taken into account.
Sorry. I just kind of feel that they've tried to do too much in the series, and that there's no way they're going to work it out by the end of the season. Don't get me wrong--I love to watch it, but if they pull this off it will be a miracle.
--
Keep your clothes on; I've got all that I can take.
Teach me how to use the love that people say you make.
I disagree--I have a hard time thinking that the creators of the show don't have EVERYTHING in mind all the time. There are just too many connections for them to not know what they're doing. Then again I often have no idea what's going on.
ok ok ok... The main plot of the story has to already be written... who could possible tie all that together without having a big plan in there somewhere. I watched season 1-4 back to back in 3 weeks. Then season 5 for free on hulu.com until i was caught up with this season. The only thing I am confused about is the alternate lives thing? Flash to the island underwater and the flight 815-ers all healthy and living their lives... And here is my theory about Jack's son... his ex wife was pregnant in some of the episodes...???...
I agree with tarynelaine. I think the creators know exactly where they are and where they're going with the plot and definitely have the big picture and all the connections in mind all the time. Having said that, I'd be very surprised if we got a series finale that answered all our questions and left us with a nice, neat ending. I read an interview somewhere in which the creators said the finale was going to be Sopranos-esque (to paraphrase), and although I never watched the Sopranos, my understanding is that the series finale was something of a cliffhanger (screen goes to black, lots of gunshots?). So I'm not expecting a whole lot of resolution, but I am expecting it to be awesome.
--
"I've never been too good at reading in between the lines."
I would seriously hope it doesnt end with a black screen and gunshots. cause... that would suck beyond suck. seriously. And why would they be telling on every advertisement that we will "finally get the answers" if they don't?
By telling us that they are just getting are hopes up so they can let us down even harder
hey guys after a week away i'm back and caught up. I enjoyed last weeks episode with syaid more than last nights but the ben ep was not bad. I'm really hoping next week we get back to some more Locke/Sawyer story like when they were in the cave with all the names on the wall (best ep of the season so far). As for how it is all going to come to an end.......it's LOST so who knows. I do think the creators have always known since the end of season 3 where the story was going because lets face it, it was at that point in the show where it turned a corner and i think it would be really hard to send the story in that direction without having at least some idea of how you want to wrap it up.

"But I can't go back, and I don't want to,
'cause all my mistakes, they brought me to you"
I gotta say I was a little disappointed last night when they finally answered the reason why Richard doesn't age. I was expecting some really bizarre incident that happened and caused it, and I thought it was boring that he is like that because Jacob touched him. C'mon cant you be anymore creative?
yeah that was kind of stupid. i did like how we saw jack willing to sit there with him only on faith, very different from the man in season 1 didn't believe in destiny.
--
"But I can't go back, and I don't want to,
'cause all my mistakes, they brought me to you"
Ive been fairly disappointed with this season so far.. I would have prefered a three hour movie rather than a season with 5 minutes of an episode worth seeing

"..It’s not where I am…it’s who I’m with.."
The show has certainly gone down hill since the first couple of seasons. I still like it enough to finish it out though. Kind of reminds me of what happened to Heroes after season 1.
i really think heroes slipped after season 1 but LOST didn't start falling off till atleast season 3. it is still a great show but i did love season 1-3 much more than what it is now.
--
"But I can't go back, and I don't want to,
'cause all my mistakes, they brought me to you"
can we just address how absolutely CRAZY Claire is? Wow.
LOL I know, she is all kind a crazy. I’m glad fake locke told her that she left her baby and kate did what was best. and why is syaid stoned to the bone. i know he is "sick" but he was just acting weird. i would say the season is ok put can anyone pin point what is different about this year, i just think something is missing that makes this show just not seem like old LOST and i can't figure out what it is. Part of me thinks that because it is not a flashback or foward that somehow ties into that weeks ep at the end of the show. The flash sideway’s have nothing to do really with what going on on the island. i mean we get it, some people ended up better off, some people didn't, everyone is still connected. HOW ARE THEY GOING TO BRING THESE TWO THINGS TOGETHER?
