Merlefest

Does anybody know what time TAB will be going onstage on Sunday, perhaps based on knowledge of what time the festival ends? I'm trying to find some people to drive up there on Sunday so I can finally see them! Gates open at 9AM, but I want to know if we should earlyyy Sunday morning (I live about 5 hours away) or if we could pull getting there sometime after noon. Thanks.

it says 3:30. i guess it depends on if you want to catch any of the other bands that day as to when you show up.

Burn the questions. Burn the shame.
I'm driving up there from Florida on Sat. Staying Sunday and driving home Monday. I would get there early, plus Jim Avett plays that morning. have fun.

So if ever someone one says to you,
Life isn't fair, get used to it
Then you should say 'Well it might be
If folks like you would let it be"
Thanks for the info, I must have missed the schedule when I was browsing the website.
Along these same lines, I'm wondering about how long we can expect the Merlefest set to be? Do the closers typically get more time since nobody is following them? What have the past Merlefest sets been like?

I'm also wondering if TAB's tend to favor acoustic to electric at Merlefest considering its reputation for being a bluegrass event.

Layy - I just realized you're not far from Charlotte. I'll be at the airport on Saturday picking up my bestfriend. See you at MF!

I will be at Merlefest for the full four days again this year. I have seen the Brothers each time they have played Merlefest starting in 2004. First off you can expect the festival to run on schedule. They rarely get off track. You can expect them to play a full 1:30 mn. set. And lastly, I have never seen them hold anything back at Merlefest. Here is a taste of 2006

Well Locust, Mount Pleasant, Concord.... LETS GOOO!
Oh my gosh... I must, must, must go to Merlefest! Thanks for the video, sundayrehab.
I'm seriously considering making the drive down...I had a question on the "feel" of the event...I've been to "All good" and loved it, and been to that awesome music fest in Manchester Tennessee that starts with a "b" had a great time there too... for folks who have attended "bonnerroo" and/or "all good"....how does it compare/contrast to merlefest?
Thanks!
Nothing better than Merlefest... Like dying and waking up in AMERICAN ROOTS heaven.
I wish I lived closer to Merlefest. So many wonderful people are attending, not to mention wonderful music!
So do they allow hand held video cameras?
I believe their official policy is no audio or video recording. I have never seen them enforce the video part. Just be discreet.
Here is a nice site to get info about Merlefest and lots of other festivals.

I hate I didn't get reserved seats, but just too much. I hope to get there early u_u

A couple friends and I decided to definitely go to Merlefest, just on Sunday! So excited I can't stand it.
LayySayy, do you know anything about the seating when it's not reserved? Are they lawn seats where you need to bring your own blankets or chairs or are there seats set up and it's first come, first serve?
LayySayy....if I'm not mistaken, anyone can sit in reserved seats on Sunday, as long as the seat-holder isn't there.
I'm only doin' Sunday, but I'll def be there.

I'm only going sunday also. mia. I'm not sure. The thing is... If we DO take someone's seat and they come back and want it, where would we go? Soooooo, me and my friends are thinking about bringing a lawn chair and just leave it there.. Idk, I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Imma try to get as close as possible.
Nate- first time to merlefest? or no?

SideNOTE for Sunday Rehab. Do the Brothers always wear Black at Merlefest? We saw them in 2008 and I think they were both in Black.
Thanks for all the cool pictures.
