amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hope there are lots of good videos Smiling

@JDawn, I got a few that I should have up on You Tube tomorrow. Colorshow all the way through for sure, and I think the whole deal of Find My Love and Laundry Room as well. Bits and pieces of other things. I'm too wiped out to check right now, but we were dead center in about the 3rd row of the balcony so they should be decent.

Beautiful venue, wonderful show! Loved meeting so many of you. Hope the boys enjoy their break.

Wow...setlists don't get much more amazing than this! So glad to see Find My Love done again, (seriously, does Seth even realize how incredible his vocals are on this one?) And then you add in Ramblin Fever, St Josephs, Smoke in our Lights and Angie? Envious (and happy) for all that were there

WOW. What a night. Nice to meet all of you in line back to back days. Proud to represent the state of wisconsin for those first few hours on friday.

Faaaaaaaaaantastic. Just incredible. I have no other words.

How was Jill's set?

My eleventh show, and the best by a factor of -- well -- words fail.

Nothing could be been more providential than that amplification fail at the start of the show. They went above and beyond to make up for it, nailing song after song after song. 26 of them in all!

I'm usually pretty OCD about keeping a setlist, but I quit at Swept Away; even the slight distraction of writing down the title of a song was too much for such an intense show.

"Never Been Alive" was a dream come true. I was beside myself. I literally wept at "Find My Love" (with harmony! Please, God, let someone have taped that!) and when they followed that up with "Smoke in Our Lights," not as a duet but with Paul on bass, too -- it was just too much.

Four song encore! Seth OWNED "Angie." I hope they'll cover that on their next album. They haven't done a studio cover yet (except their daddy's "Signs"), but if ever they were to do so, this is the one.

Other super highlights for me: "Salina," "St Joseph's," "Matrimony," "Denouncing." But heck, every song was awesome.

And I loved that Brooklyn Bridge backdrop. Never seen that one. Have they used it before?

And Jill's set was fantastic. She was just great -- a perfect opener.

What a show!

@AerixJ--Ask and ye shall receive Smiling Not the best quality, but I did my best.

Here's another 'Find My Love':

Wow, guys, thanks for those videos.

Anybody catch "Never Been Alive"?

This show... words don't due it justice. It was a roller coaster of emotion the entire night.
Afterwards, I told Seth it was a beautifully crazy show. He said "for us too."
I felt like they played forever and left a piece of themselves on that stage. Best show of the year, for me. And that's saying a lot, considering I've seen some magical shows.

Are we sure it was the Brooklyn Bridge and not the Williamsburg Bridge?

@catfisher - It's definitely the Williamsburg Bridge, which also leads to Brooklyn. To answer your other question, Jill was great last night. I was really impressed with her set.

The sound was an absolute mess for the first six songs, but they eventually got it sorted out. I thought the sound cutting out during "Paranoia" was a pretty cool moment, to be honest. They played nearly the entire song unamplified, so the crowd helped out by singing along.

The rest of the set was phenomenal. "St. Joseph's," "Matrimony," "Never Been Alive," "Find My Love," and "Angie" were real treats. I'd never seen "Swept Away" until Saturday night, so that was cool, too.

Man. They played my dream setlist. Nice

Both shows were so great, but the Saturday night show was epic! The setlist just went on and on great song after great song. I wanted to record them all, but wanted to sing along as well. So much fun, such great music and the crowd was great as well. Could not believe it was nearly midnight when it was over. Can't wait for the next tour!!!

Wow. That's the only word I can think of that does this setlist justice. So, SO sad to have missed it, but there are some great videos on youtube. Wow.

I traveled from Boston for the Milwaukee shows and am so so so thankful that I did! As others have said, Friday night was good, but Saturday was easily the best concert I've ever been to. The energy, the emotional highs and lows, the setlist... there are no words.

The sound problems at the start only added to the show's intensity. Joe said the issue was that the computer system that controls the sound completely crashed and they couldn't get it back up right away, so the band left the stage. Scott later told me that he and Seth were backstage trying to figure out what to do if they couldn't get it working-- unplugged set or sing-a-long, perhaps, though he clearly wasn't psyched about either option.

Also, there was some excitement down front during Go To Sleep. Some crazy-looking guy shoved through a whole bunch of people and made it almost to where I was standing in front of the stage, and then started messing around with some electronics stuff in his bag with a crazy look on his face. He completely distracted everyone down front--he was actually really scary and people started giving him a wide berth, especially since the venue hadn't checked bags so who knew what he had in there. After a couple minutes, Dane ran across the stage to check it out but right then someone notified security and they hauled him out, to everyone's relief.

I only mention this because immediately after this all happened the guys started playing Find My Love and then Smoke in our Lights. The transition from being distracted and scared to the peacefulness and beauty of those songs made them all the more intense. There were many tears.

I was standing by talusdreaming...and yes, everything she said. That guy was unhinged. The sanity was definitely gone from his eyes. Security wasn't noticing and by that time, adrenaline had kicked in (for everyone around us too, I'm sure) and I was actually shaking. I look up and see Dane and Travis running towards us, and I'm pretty sure they would have rescued us if security didn't FINALLY make it's way to the guy.
Then ... wham. Find My Love. I'm not a crier and have never truly cried at an Avett show. It took 14 shows, but I officially lost it.
I've seen some great energy exchange at shows, but from that point on the band and crowd were pretty much giving it back and forth like I've never witnessed before.
I've never seen Scott quite so "possessed" as when I saw him stand up after being on the ground during Indolence.
The night was amazing. Overused word, but an accurate word.

I never thought I'd say this about a show where the sound went out for 20 minutes, some crazed guy acted like he was going to murder us or the band (no one mentioned how he started taking other people's stuff and throwing it on stage! Joe said he thought Dane was going to dive right off the stage to go after him.), another guy passed out on our friend in the lobby after the show, and some other dude passed out on the sidewalk, but this was easily the best show I've seen them do all year. Maybe the best I've seen them do ever. Blaire's exactly right, they left a piece of themselves on that stage. It was certainly an exciting way to end this year's tour.

And I have to mention that everything about Find My Love was perfect. Seth's vocals, Scott's harmonies. Just the best.

yup, what talusdreaming, blaire and ashley said. we had quite an eventful weekend. i had never been literally moved to tears at any show before, but during find my love, it happened. the beauty of that song and smoke in our lights was almost too much. it was a whirlwind weekend, but totally worth it. i'm uploading videos to my youtube channel if anyone is interested (emurtagh1011).

oh, and for the guys to come out afterwards was special, too, knowing they wanted to start their drive home. It had to be after 2am and they were still out there in the freezing cold.

@2blklabs -- Thanks for posting all those vids.

I've been checking YouTube every couple hours to see what might come up. Someone finally came up with "Never Been Alive." Amen.

Now I'm hoping "Smoke in Our Lights" will show up. I caught that on video at the Merrillville show, when they did it as a duet. My wife wasn't with me at that show and she was hoping against hope they'd do it again on Saturday.

I had the chance to thank Scott for that after Merrillville. Wish we could've hung around and thanked the boys for Saturday's show, but it's a long drive back to Chicago.

Did anybody ask them which songs they did weren't on the setlist? I mean, 26 songs -- at least 3 of them, more likely 4 or 5, were extras. I'd like to know, because I was calling out for "Never Been Alive" every chance I got between songs.

I don't usually call out for songs; I know they've got their setlist down. But after that weird opening, it was clear the regular rules were't in play, and I wanted to hear that song so, so bad.

-- Eric

They said after the show that there were 26 songs on the setlist! Woo hoo!

Thanks for that, Blaire. Even with the first verse missing, it's a great video.

-- Eric

I didn't record Never Been Alive because honestly, i don't really care for it.

Best.weekend.ever. I had so much fun I'm even taking the time to write about it on the boards. (Hey everyone!)

I've never been so scared before my life at a show before. I was pretty sure "creepy guy" was going to shank me with whatever he was fidgiting with in his pocket. When he tried to bulldoze talusdreaming and me, I grabbed on to her and we created quite the wall. Then I turned around to receive the death look and everyone had formed a 10ft circle away from him. Very thankful for the lady who ran and got security. Dane later told me that they thought someone had passed out.

Besides that, did I mention that this was the best weekend of Avett shows I've ever attend? I was riding high with Jacob giving his drum sticks from Friday (sorry everyone who had to listen to me gush about that over and over) to Saturday night's epic setlist.

Very grateful for our Avett family, the time spent waiting in line and all those who took videos for memories & documentation purposes. Hope to do it again soon Smiling

I just love all you gals so much. What a wonderful weekend spent with the genuine friends, witnessing and embracing all the energy the guys were giving out. Many, many memories. And such a pleasure to meet you Ashley, Lynn, and Talus- you ladies are classy!! I am still caught up in that great big Avett love bubble almost 2 weeks later! Within the top 3 shows I've ever seen. Couldn't have asked for more.

Yes, the best show I have ever seen of any band at any time.
I, too, was in the pit. The sound problem did not make one ounce of difference in the enjoyment of the show amongst those around me. A brilliant performance. I read here that there were "boo's' during the sound stoppage. I never heard a boo.
The 'crazy' guy beside us all was not so much disturbing as sad. I was fairly close to him (blaire, I was at your right. I didn't know who you were at the time) and never felt a threat. He was just sadly hunched and needed help.

I coerced two friends to come to the gig with me. They are now amongst the growing crowd of Avett supporters.
Wonderful, wonderful show.

Lynn, I'm not sure if you're referring to the same guy, but he definitely looked disturbed and the palpable fear in the girls' eyes was warranted.

I don't know how I missed what was going on with that guy, all of a sudden Travis and Dane are right in front of me grabbing where y'all were just a few people over. I was completely oblivious. It's crazy how two or three people further center stage and being so focused on the guys on stage makes such a difference.

I'm glad that everything got handled. And I'm honestly super surprised that the Riverside didn't check bags. These two shows are the only two shows I've been to there where they didn't. Even if it's just checking for recording equipment. Strange. Wonder if that'll change at my next show there?

Also, I didn't hear a single boo during the "break." Seth told me after the show that the computer in the board crashed. This is why I don't like digital soundboards........... just sayin'. ;D
