Thanks Steph! Will this come out the same time as the eagerly awaited CD?

What?? We have to wait till the end of Sept? I dont know if I can!!!

Changing the plans that I’ve been setting on
I’m scared by the way that my life is getting gone
I hope one of the states is TN!
If it's anything surrounding VA then we're good!

Game time!
NC
Oregon
Ohio
First two are from my head. Last is from my heart.

masuther: TN heard! I'm already spending Halloween with the Avetts..a New Years show would be a great addition to my holidays!!
Oregon, please. You know you love the Crystal and I can get there by Train.
--
I won't look back anymore, I left the people that do
It's not the chase that I love, It's me following you.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Portland! That would be a real treat!
There simply must be an NC show.

I doubt Orgeon. Thats on the other side of the continent. Tennessee, North Carolina, and Virginia are my hopes.
--
Go Vols!
Georgia will probably be one of them.

It would be hard to cover all three in one evening. I think they need to take advantage of three time zones.

I'm guessing NC, SC, and GA. The only question is Asheville or Greensboro for NC. I'd imagine it would be one or the other since neither of us has had a show this year. In SC I'd say Greenville for sure, and GA could be Athens or Hotlanta. Probably Athens. I have no inside information that leads me to believe any of this, but I would be very surprised if I was wrong about the states. The south has not gotten enough love this year, by a long shot.
I liked it better when the shows were at "home" on New Years. Last years two shows at the Belk Theater were phenomenal. Hopefully they will keep one of the shows in Charlotte.

-November spells sweet memory, the season blue remains-
I guess I'm down for almost any show in the south that includes GA or TN...TN would be cooler, but GA isn't too far of a drive. I'll rent a car and drive myself 5 hours if need be...I am very excited for this announcement!
I'll settle for New York
i'm still hoping for another 2 night run in knox. sometime in nov. then probably agree with blasto about the other 3 run shows being nc, sc & ga, but who knows. i'd guess atlanta for the ga show though... maybe the fox theatre?

And I spent the last one just hidden away
Screaming my lungs out with nothing to say.
I'm with tuttled. Would love to spend another new years with the avetts in N.C.
Wouldn't we all, but the show is definitely not going to be in Charlotte. It may be selfish of me to wish for Asheville, but the shows here for the last 2 years have been truly special (I think people from all over who attended will agree there was a certain magic in the air both years), and have actually made up 5 of the 8 shows I've been to so far. I haven't seen a single Avett show this year, and I'm not going to Charlotte this Saturday, so I'm going to make it a point to go to all 3 if they are in the South. New York, you keep quiet. You've had enough shows this year! You're going to steal them away from us permenantly at this rate!
I figure, out of 3 shows, there's got to be one in NC. I can be happy with those chances. And now I know when to expect the announcement...sounds good to me.

Ohio and Indiana!!!
I don't see how Asheville could be left out. I wouldn't be surprised by three in NC. Maybe Greensboro and ?

Well, Steph said three shows in three states, so I doubt it, but I definitely wouldn't be opposed. Another NC option is Raleigh, though.

Does anyone know what's up with the (former) Georgia Theatre and its possible rebuilding? I would speculate that they might do something in conjunction with a benefit for rebuilding the Georgia Theatre before the end of the year...maybe not for NYE, but sometime in there.
This is based on nothing other than a feeling in my gut and a general knowledge of the type of generosity the Brothers are known for displaying. It's in the right part of the country and if there's a venue of the right size in Athens.....(is there?) this could be one of the spots.
But maybe there are some events or places completely out of our mind that we're missing. There's alot of marketing dollars in place to promote shows for them this year...the sky's the limit at this point.
"Well, Steph said three shows in three states, so I doubt it."
Duh. I sure wasn't paying attention.

pipe down, NC'ers. you had 'em pretty much all to yourself for a long time...let everyone else have a chance.
There will be a stage.

And I guess that the band will show up and play a couple of tunes for sh*ts and giggles.
And marystikkal, you know as well as the rest of us that too much of these guys is never enough!

marysstikal, there's no place like home.

with the crowd they pulled in Cary - wouldn't you imagine that is another of their stand-out options?

100 bucks says they are all below the Mason-Dixon line.
The Knoxville, Asheville, Greenville/Spartanburg, Atlanta box would be the easiest to navigate.

I'd rather shoot it out, bygod, than let them watch me hang!
Given the slow progress of the rebuilding of the GA Theatre in Athens, I'm doubting
that the boys will be there in December. Currently all GA Theatre shows are at 40 Watt, which is way too small for the current Avett crowd. Maybe Variety Playhouse in Atlanta as a GA possibility? I'm hoping for NC/GA...
Have a good weekend y'all!
Raleigh, Greenville SC, and Atlanta - 1st guess
Raleigh, Richmond, Washington DC
how about 3 shows, 3 states..... ALL on new years eve! like celebrate NYE at midnight in each time zone! (or at least MOST)
hahah.. OK... i'm kidding!

"you're the words... in a song.. that Hoon sang to me...."
65chevelle: if they play those 3, then I'm going to all of them! That would be awesome for me because I'm kinda in the middle of all of those...and I like the way you're thinking about it ie: which route would be easiest for them to travel in 3 days?
beckcat: Variety playhouse was the first place I saw The Avett Brothers perform!
And to all NC people...keep your hopes up! They said tomorrow is their only NC show in 2009...well maybe they will play on Jan 1st?
This speculation is killing me, I don't wanna wait until the end of Sept
I need some Avett news to get me through August. I'm going to go ahead and request off 5 days or so from work since this is during my Christmas break from school and I am feeling like I might try to hit all 3 to make up for a lack of Avett shows in my life this year.
No korsasol, here is what the announcement said
“August 8th is coming up this Saturday, and we couldn’t be more excited to be coming home for our only Charlotte 2009 performance!”
Not our only 2009 NC performance.
I talked with Dolph and Steph last night and asked them about the new years shows. You would not believe what they told me. Well I guess you would believe it. They would not give me even a slight hint of what’s in the works.

koka booth might be a little cold on NYE

Please talk slowly I don't hear good any more.
I'm guessing GA, NC and NY, but you all are more than welcome to play in Vietnam during their Tet next year. I'll even have a place for you all to stay!
--
We are the true believers.
Does anyone know/think which 3 dates they will play? 29/30/31?
sunday...Doh! I'm at work and doing too many things at once so I "misspoke." I guess what I meant to say was that Charlotte can still keep hope alive that maybe The Avett Brothers will play there Jan.1 2010. I'd be hoping for that if I lived around there.
I can't believe they wouldn't tell you anything! Actually, you're right...I can, but even IF you did know anything that still wouldn't help us impatient curious folks (if I was a cat...I'd be dead by now). I love surprises but I don't like the anticipation! I want to know now!
Maybe they've perfected time travel so they can hit 3 states all for NYE?
Gives new meaning to the "I am a breathing time machine" lyric, huh?
I'm guessing a TV performance NYE.

My vote is to set up a stage on the side of the road at the Fine Broom Company, New London, North Carolina, Route 2.
I would so love NY or anywhere that is relatively nearby!
It's Gotta be in the Triangle
The Dave Matthews show does not count as our show for the year.
North Kakalak....keep comin' back!

***ScreamiN' my luNgs out with NothiN' to say***
I can't imagine one of the shows will not be in Charlotte. They have played a NYE show here the past 3-4 years. It's close to home (where they will most likely spend the holidays). I was starting to feel like these shows were becoming a tradition.....
