Looks like no NYE show in Charlotte this year.

And no Lucy's

sad day, i've loved the last couple Charlotte NYE shows... maybe somewhere else fun (and still in the South East?)
maybe it's because the Everybodyfields are getting back together and they're going to play until midnight, at which point the boys will take over and play till sunrise for the first show of 2010. maybe?
I'm still going to keep that evening open...

I might miss the meaning, but I’m catching the truth
The title-picture combo is funny.
I could do Portland. I haven't been there to see my family in quite awhile.
yeah that stinks - but I guess they were just getting too big for the Belk Theater.... still thought they'd find somewhere else in Charlotte, though...
oh well - still keeping my fingers crossed for a 2 - 3 night run in NC for NYE....

Well Locust, Mount Pleasant, Concord.... LETS GOOO!
Dolph - Do you know any news on the pre sale early entry for the Charlotte show?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this means they'll still be playing somewhere in NC, just not Charlotte.
Um...I'm scared...no NYE in Charlotte (?!?!?!)...my world has turned upside down. I really, really hope that it doesn't move out of North Carolina. Honestly, I think that would break my heart in two.

I really hope that it stays in the SE region, but preferably NC.

At least it didnt say this was the only NC show of the year...

Move it over to Asheville so the boys don't have to drive all over the place during the holidays! Maybe 3 nights in a row at the Orange Peel followed by two nights at Thomas Wolfe? A man can dream.
Thanks so much Dolph! I got my email shortly after posting the question to you!

thanks for keeping the hope alive, Dolph!
we love you and all the great things you are doing for music in NC!!
Another sign that the end of times are upon us : 0
And I spent the last one just hidden away
Screaming my lungs out with nothing to say.
dangit this kid who's dad manages the belk told me they were doing it there again, i was excited
Maybe on New Year's Eve the boys will be doing something much BIGGER. Maybe they will be on National TV as NYE hosts from New York City or LA.
Once this new record drops in on America in a few weeks I believe that the world we now know for The Avett Brothers will be forever changed. This is not bad change - just that America is about to discover what we have known for sometime now. This is the best band in the USA right now...
I fully expect to see TAB on the late show circut and on music awads shows all over the place over the next 8 to 12 months. Hang on cause it's going to be a wild ride.
I hear you and agree with you about the rest of the country making a big discovery and more late night appearances and award shows- I can definitely see all that happening. But I would hate to see that NYE show turn into something as different as you describe, because it's always been more special than that. I trust it will be good, because I always trust the band's decisions, but I have to admit that this makes me a little nervous.

How about - an Avett NYE out in the fields on the Avett farm? It'd be like Woodstock, only with TAB, Sam Quinn, Samantha Crain, The Duke and The King, JLM, ............ Maybe we get some NC breweries to come out and serve tons of tasty beer until the wee hours. Geee, that sure sounds fun right about now.

Concord, NC not Charlotte..... Daddy like!!!
I heard they were going to play on top of Bass Pro Shop.

I found it odd that there is a Starbucks in the Bass Pro Shop in Sevierville, Tennessee.
I live in Matthews. We can do it at my house.
There was speculation somewhere here a while back that there was word of an NYE show in NYC, but I don't think there was any basis for that. It would of course be great for me, but if that comes to pass, I can just hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth that would follow.

From Ohio - I hope our annual NYE trip to NC does not have to be canceled. Anywhere else (other than Dayton) just wouldn't be right.

Rejoice always, Mark
agreed Bob. seems like quite some time that a NYE was not spent watching them play.

of course, its not totally of out of the question - i'd just be extremely surprised to see them play up there, especially since ya'll have gotten 3 shows up there this year so far and NC has only gotten 1 strictly Avett show ( not counting opening for DMB)
my bet is still that they will do something in NC, as its just tradition ( my hope is for a 2 - 3 night run in Asheville)... however, I still wouldn't be suprised to see them do it somewhere else in the Southeast

The Tabernacle? I know STS9 isn't playing there this year and they haven't played in ATL this year, have they?
...and supposedly Panic will be back at Philips this year.

I was talking to my boyfriend's mom about this the other night - she said their success reminds her of when Ryan Adams hit it big. (Caveat - I know nearly nothing about Ryan Adams or his development, history, etc.) She said at some point, he didn't come to NC for several years (again, I don't know the veracity of this statement) and that drove people nuts, but he was trying to increase his listenership at the time.
I have no idea what the Avetts' plan is, but I wouldn't be surprised if they spent a lot more time outside of NC/southeast after the album drops (as the kids say) in order to reach to a wider audience. Again, pure speculation, but it seems possible, if not likely.

I nominate RBC in Raleigh or the Greensboro Coliseum if you really want to see how many they can draw.
--
Please talk slowly I don't hear good any more.
Ryan Adams still hasn't come to NC in years and is on hiatus right now...sadly.
I would poop in my pants if The Avetts and Ryan Adams ever went on tour together.

Was it in NC where someone yelled out "Summer of 69" at a Ryan Adams show and he got all b****y? Is that why he hasn't come here? HAHAHHAHAHAHHA

Ryan Adams got his start in NC playing with Whiskytown along with Caitlin Cary. From all the stories I have heard he made a lot of enemies and burned many bridges within the musical community around the triangle. After a few years absence he played a show in Raleigh around 2007. I went just to see if there would be fireworks. I had read some threads where people were talking about their seats being good enough to toss over ripe vegetables at him. The show went off without any major drama but the sound was as bad as I have ever heard. Caitlin came out and tried to do some songs with Ryan but neither one of them could remember enough lyrics to finish any of them.
I am a Ryan Adams fan but that concert was pitiful. I would like to see him again but in a different setting.

Masuther, where you from man?
I vote for NYE at the Fine Broom Company, New London, North Carolina, Route 2.
I live near Bristol, Tn.
**Sorry to hi-jack this thread**
@SundayRehab
Ryan is supposedly sobered up a bit, so I hope his show would be better now. There are some really good shows with the Cardinals on archive.org where he seems to be on the top of his game.
Either way, I'm pretty jealous of you getting to see him. Originally, Ryan was going to start a band after Whiskeytown with Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, but he scratched the material and then recorded Heartbreaker in a matter of days. These sessions are floating around the internet though, known as the "Destroyer Sessions." Good stuff though.

Another bit of a highjack...
"I found it odd that there is a Starbucks in the Bass Pro Shop in Sevierville, Tennessee." -masuther
So did I, but then I realized what a good idea it was, because we sure as hell needed to stop by there after going through the whole store. I was exhausted, and I still had to finish the drive to Greensboro, NC. A place that big needs a Starbucks; I'm surprised Wal-Mart hasn't figured that out.
On topic...
I would like to add that my heart will not break if they move NYE to Greensboro. In fact, I'd be so happy that I'd probably cry. God, I hope I can afford to go big on NYE this year.
