Here they are. I think I have a few errors in there, so correct me where you think I've gone wrong.

hmm...the first two lines consistently sound like "weren't", not were, to me. Also I think the fourth line is stayin' not stayin in. Lastly I think the line is "Oh lady" not "Old lady" in the last verse. IMHO, just my $0.02, etc
i agree with the above post, i have always thought in the first two lines they say weren't,
it seems to make more sense in the second line, "And if I weren't gonna be gone now, could I take you home"
so maybe its were in the first weren't in second
i definitely think both lines are very clearly "were", i think its perfect how he has it now

It's gotta be weren't in both lines. The song is about leaving, the decision is made: "this man must move on". He's imagining what he would see/have if he could stay. To have "were" in one line and "weren't" in another would be contradictory. I think, anyway. As Dale said it's not a big deal, in fact I like parsing their lyrics, finding new meaning.
I'll change to weren't for both lines, as for now. I've been sold, and I enjoy the debate and reasoning. I've got a few more lyrics, too, so maybe I'll post another song this week. I've had some questions on others as well.
That sounds like great fun for word nerds like me. How about "The Lowering" I'd like to get a bettter hold of that one. Also 3S's; I've heard that's about three different views on love; I just havent identified them distinctly. Another: "At the Beach"

Yes, I would love to see the lyrics for "At the beach." Is it...'my sister has a baby with brand new eyes'??? very confusing...
By the way, it is def. "were" in the first line and "weren't" in the second line.
"If I weren't leaving, would I catch you dreaming", doesn't make sense. "If I were leaving, would I catch you dreaming", makes more sense because she would dream about him if he left rather then if he didn't leave. Makes more sense, right?

Wow what a debate! I decided it could not be that hard to decipher and went back to listen to the 3 versions I have of that song. Each one had me making up my mind differently. I give up ... come on guys enunciate!
As for At The Beach.. yes their sister's baby would have "brand new eyes" seeing everything the world has to offer for the first time. I am not sure I understand the confusion.
the nov blue lyrics dont seem that hard to decipher to me, he clearly says were, which makes the most sense. Watch the video that is linked under the extras page of this website, you can read his lips.

I think its hard to speculate what the lyrics mean and what makes the most sense. It might make the most sense to us, but they could have meant it as something totally different. I think the lyric is whatever we as individuals can find the most meaning in. I know im sort of contradicting myself, cause i was certain before that it said "were". But the beauty of music is finding meaning in a song no matter if its the same meaning as what somebody else finds in the song.

well back to the Nov blue thing, Last night at Rittenhouse Square in Phila., I got through the star struck "pretty girls from philadelphia" and asked Scott what the words were (I felt like such a dork), but anyway he was as gracoius as always and said the first two lines were both weren't not were/werent. Mystery revealed.
I'll see them at the folk fest tomorrow, I wonder if there's anything else to clear up?
It'd be awesome if you could memorize all the Indolence Rap lyrics and post. But, I'm guessing we are just going to have to wait for the cd.

For the longest time, I thought "Would you roll like the wind does?" was actually, "Would you roll like the windows?"
Just imagine a really southern guy saying "windows" and I think you'll see my confusion. I was also the nerd singing "bathroom on the right" though...
I am not totally sure of the lyrics for Indolence, but here is what I think the first few lines are....

Hey! I have seen TAB twice and am completly in love! They are coming back to Huntsville again in Feb. and hopefully bringing Four Theives with them. I can't wait to see them. At The Beach is a great song, especially the part about the baby's "brand new eyes". Can't wait to hear November Blue. Forgive my ignorance, but what CD is that on?

The studio version of November Blue is on "Country Was" but there's live versions on both "Live At The Double Door Inn" and "Live, Vol. 2."

Though that line from at the beach is a bit awkward, I wouldn't say it makes no sense.
