O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire Theatre, London, UK 06/22/11
All and All a really good show. The venue was awesome. It is really cool how London has a ton of these old theaters. They are built for show's like this, with the proper style, and elevation of all the seating. There was not a bad seat in the house. O2 Empire Theatre was four levels, floor, 1,2,3. Very ornate, with the classic, old style theatre look. I believe it hold's 2500. There were a few tickets, but just a couple of scalpers. There was a line at 4PM, but only about 150 or so by 6:30PM. Anyone that wanted to be up front in their section could be. It was heavily populated by Americans, of all age groups. One guy I met had heard of them through Mumford, since they started covering a couple of Avett covers. The crowd, at least upstairs was pretty subdued, even during Kick Drum Heart, and what I call the electric Jimi Hendrix jam into Color show, almost no one was standing, BUT everyone was enjoying it, especially the two Virginia Tech girls, one from Durham, NC, and the other from Strasburg, VA. They were leading the shouts of "I love you Scott/ Seth" and of course, " Let's hear it for Bob Crawford on Bass" which Scott immediately heard, and repeated. Bob was especially sharp the entire show, pounding out the bass line, and leading. The highlights for me, as always was Laundry Room and January Wedding, just love those songs, and Murder, When I drink, and the Last Song to Jenny was killer. Do they have any bad songs? You could tell they were really happy to be in London, and trying extra hard to impress, and even commented that a 7 year absence is just too long! Everyone was really quiet for those tunes, and the song was FANTASTIC! These guys just continue to rock out, and spread the love through out the world! Will be posting some fairly lousy 3rd floor videos under DCRANGERFAN on youtube later tonight or tomorrow. At least you can get an idea of what it was like. I felt really lucky to be there, and see them perform. They are special.

I was hoping for a review for this show. Thanks, DCAVETTFAN.
*So Bob is back. I was wondering.
Why wouldn't Bob be back? He just took a weekend off to be with his family during an important time. No further speculation needed...that's how rumors get started
Here's another perspective on the London show... sounds like they made quite an impression.

I have been an Avett Brothers fan for about a year and a half now. I am a Brit and first saw them at the Relentless Garage in Holloway in March 2010 and dragged a friend along. We both thought they rocked. Joe on the cello always cracks us up, he gives it his all and gets lost in music ! Myself and the same friend plus two others attended the gig on 22nd June at Shepherds Bush Empire. We thought they were great. We were in the standing area on the ground floor 3 rows back from the front, the crowd were cool with no pushing or anything. We had a great time and the opener, King Charles, rocked as well. Got myself a Carolina Jubilee CD from the merchandise desk, am well pleased as getting that CD here in the UK is like finding a happy person on the tube in rush hour. Just doesn't happen dude. All in all a great show, will def seem them again when they come to London.
My wife and I attended the show and I can honestly say it was the best concert I have ever attended. I have seen the avetts 3 times and never have been let down, I am officially a groupie. Keep playing hard and bob my family is praying for yours. Cant wait to see you in Wichita.
