Oh What A Nightmare

Oh What A Nightmare

I'm just curious what this CD is like--is it Avetty?? I have almost everything else now and am wondering if I need this too??
Thanks!

It's definitely worth picking up. I wish I had gotten a hard copy while they were still around.

Yeh, I have mp3 and really like it. Its louder & more rock(ish) but still very Avett

I don't love it, and my boyfriend (who got me into the Avetts in the first place) won't even listen to it. It reminds me a lot of Soundgarden, which I love, but it's missing something which makes it just ok. If you didn't know it was the Avetts, it might be difficult to tell but you can definitely hear their voices on there. Some of the songs are much more "Avetty" than others. It has grown on me, but when it comes up on shuffle, I usually (not always, but usually) skip it.

Bottom line: It's not horrible, but I wouldn't just rush out and buy it or spend a huge amount of money to get it unless you're just deadset on owning everything they've ever done (which, as an owner of New Jersey Transient, I obviously am).

Ain't it like most people, I'm no different, we love to talk on things we don't know about.

I don't love it as an album, but there are several songs on it that I'd hate to live without.

yup, that sums it up pretty well, heids and LB

The title track (#2) is a GREAT song.

"The title track (#2) is a GREAT song." - Yes it is.

I'm quite fond of Sweet Green Eyes, too.

I also like Young Man and Two Tired Travelers. Honestly, I like the whole album, although I'm not always in the mood for it.

I dig it.

Thanks so much for the input--I think this means I'll have to add it my wish list. And how about the New Jersey Transient album??

I actually just listened to "Sweet Green Eyes" this morning, and that's definitely a song I'd hate to live without. (That's a really good way to put it lilybear.) Some of the songs on the album are a little too hard for me most days, but overall, I do really like this one. I heard "Good News" and "Melody Lord" the other day (separate time in the day) and each one made me stop in my tracks.

I really like this album....but that's just me. Stop the Music kicks butt!! Just my input. Smiling

You can download the title track and Sweet Green Eyes off of this page: http://www.ramseurrecords.net/artistview/owan/

We ate store brand baloney and cheese singles on white bread with mayo and mustard through this recording. My tape recorders blew up partway through, and we took a few weeks off while I found replacements.
