I am going with tour news about them going over seas.
I think I may travel to Urbana tonight to find out. 3 hour drive.
I think the news is that they will be playing a private concert in my living room the day after the Atlanta show.

It is intriguing how the "news" is being announced so late in the day and how it seems to emphasize importance in getting the news right away?
Or am I reading too much into that???

Yeah, I'm with lovewritesaletter. Why would people on the e-mail list have any interest in the announcement of a European tour? It's practically irrelevant to everyone on it. Especially since we are supposed to 'be on the lookout' for it. I won't be jumping on a London presale!
Another vote for the European tour dates and/or a dvd, hopefully we get news about both soon! For me, it's not so much that I'll be jumping on the presale, but that it would be awesome for the guys to be doing some European dates - maybe some people on the list are in Europe? I'm holding out for the dvd!

I think a Raleigh show will happen. I've been pounding on the General Manager of one of our premier theater-size venues about why they haven't booked the Avett's. He responded that they have made multiple attempts to book them but, although they are playing smaller venues in most markets, they want a larger venue to support the fan base in Raleigh. I don't agree but...they're the artists. He also shared with me a rumor about them playing a very interesting venue here instead. It's outdoors so I would guess in the spring. Rumors can derail things like that so I'm keeping it to myself...sorry.
It is an odd time, so the only thing that makes sense is it's b/c the boys might want to announce it live at the show tonight and therefore, the rest of us will find out after that. Kind of like the new album date announcement--wasn't that after they announced it at a show?
The only thing I know of that's coming up could be an announcement of their upcoming performance on ACL, but we already know that's happening, right? I don't see how that would be news other than the specific date. What else would be huge that the announcement would have to come out at a specific time? I hope it's the DVD or a live album or something like that would be big enough. Or the European tour--that would be great. Could it be an announcement of any awards? That would be available to the public at the same time it's announced to them, right?

angishcy - I was thinking SNL, too. Europe would be cool, especially if they work in Ireland - I'm hoping to plan a trip there next year, would be groovy to coordinate.

Justin Timberlake is brilliant on SNL.
Someone mentioned the documentary - haven't heard anything about that in awhile. That for sure gets my vote for the most exicting possibility.

Oooh, I like the "we're recording the show tonight" idea...that would be sweet, and from what I've heard of it, I'd imagine the Canopy Club's a good spot to do so.
I don't think that's it, but it sure is fun to speculate.
How about...adding a couple more shows to the NYE run, or the filming of a new vid (at the show tonight maybe?), or the release of a new single, or announcement that they'll be working on the Third Gleam (all those unreleased songs waiting in the wings since last year!) over their tour break.
Personally, I've been wanting I and Love and You sheet music/songbook for piano, just putting that out there.
I agree that it is an odd and different time of day for an announcement. The interesting thing to me is the focus on getting on the email list. If its going to be public info anyway.....Hmmm.

I'm joining the dreamers . . . they're coming to FLORIDA!!!! OK, well if it's not Florida in a stadium or something I'll settle for Florida in my living room. Yea, yea, I'm a follower in that respect, but when you see a good idea, go with it !
This thread has gotten me too excited. I'm thinking this will have to be something about the New Year's shows. I can't really think of anything else that would be important enough to announce in such a manner. But the DVD and Raleigh show both sound like great options!
