One Tree Hill?

One Tree Hill?

I dunno why this makes me sad. Supposedly there's gonna be an episode of One Tree Hill on Monday called "I and Love and You" and it's gonna have the title track on it.

I suppose it's good for exposure, but I really don't like the show One Tree Hill. What are your thoughts?

I found this on the avett's twitter page: http://twitter.com/theavettbros

here's an audio bit of Scott talking about it: http://twaud.io/qH8

These guys deserve to "make it" whatever it takes for them to get there I'm all for it. If that means doing the CW, WB, Nick at Nite, or (gasp) doing shows with Hannah Montana & Billy Ray on Disney I'm all for it. Even If i don't like a single one of their songs in the future they have given me more enjoyment than any other band in years....I'd love to see em on the cover of the "Rolling Stone" and #1 on the charts, and filthy rich. The Jonas Bros.are selling millions and don't have an 8th of the bands talent, love to see "our guys" rip it up like that...if that means 1 tree hill so be it.

I kinda feel like an outsider because I'm a little (ok a lot) late in the game. I just heard about these guys last week. Starbucks had their music playing and I found myself singing the songs all day long. Needless to say, I bought the CD from there today. You might be asking, why it took me a week to buy it . . . I only get paid every two weeks and its today! Yeah! So I have all weekend to enjoy the new CD. I tried to play it at work to make my day a tad bit better but alas, they won't let me play CDs at work Sad . I'll try and survive somehow and make it through till 6. But back on topic . . . I just wanted to say, I agree with gimme_shelter, whatever exposure they can get is good exposure; Starbucks for instance. They got me hooked on more than just the coffee Smiling

Welcome, MichelleL--doesn't matter when you found them, just happy for you that you did. Now you get to discover all the other great albums, too--Mignonette, Four Thieves Gone, Emotionalism....lucky!

Wish me luck, I know you think I'll need it.

I wish I still had Mignonette, Four Thieves Gone, Emotionalism, etc...to discover...

Carolina one day I'll, someday I'll come home.

No outsiders here, Michelle. Glad you arrived when you did Smiling I and Love and You is just one of many great albums. Be sure to check out the others after you have absorbed all the greatness from I&L&Y. I'd suggest Emotionalism next. Or The Second Gleam, if you haven't already done so!

Meanwhile, there's Scott's voice, one of the most emotionally naked in any genre, merging with Seth's more guarded intimacy to sound like angels arm wrestling and tears drying on a cheek

not a big deal.. their music has been on TV before... I think it was called Friday Night Lights

Well Locust, Mount Pleasant, Concord.... LETS GOOO!

chili and nick slipped their posts in on me and now I seem like a redundant doofus. Sticking out tongue Takes me so darn long to word my response.

The only thing I would regret about them becoming "big" is the shows...they would never be the same. For the crowd at least. I mean, there's already people texting and talking through the shows, imagine if everyone in America knew of them... Shocked

careful not to say that i don't care, or haven't, or can't, or will not again.

On that note, and OT, I know there has always been a lot of talking in the background during some shows. But it was still shocking to me that they could sell out a show like Baltimore, where much of the crowd was clearly really into it and familiar and singing along, but still when a quiet song came along, such as when Seth did My Last Song to Jenny, there was still a constant hum of talking in the background. I don't get it.

Me neither, chilixx! Kinda drove me nuts at the Baltimore show that so many people were talking during the slow songs - I was glad everyone calmed down a bit for If It's the Beaches. I was surprised watching videos of the show just how much talking there was throughout.

I just want my life to be true
Just want my heart to be true

Hell, that has been an issue as far back as my first show in Greensboro, 2007. I don't think their newfound fame has really changed anything as far as a chatty crowd goes.

i have watched many bands land these deals. This is a lil over the top. I remember when my good friends The New Deal landed a track on CSI tripped me out.

Nothing can be worse than hearing Modest Mouse on The OC when at the time they were your favorite band.

This, I can live with.

I'm all for exposure, but Hannah Montana? Urrrm....I hope not. Shouldn't there be some boundaries?

Yes, this is their job and it's a business to make money, but they're artists first. My jaw might shatter from hitting the curb if they went *that* far for some exposure. Interesting though to contemplate...where is that line drawn?

Excuse me, Mr Z, but I don't see "Moderator" under your picture here. Perhaps you're confused as to which board you're on.

I know someone who can put "moderator" or "grand pubah" under my name. I'm just going to start a new thread every time I have a comment to make. Think I will start one now as "Trolls and Dorks Who Are Messing Up This Board."

"Trolls and Dorks Who Are Messing Up This Board."

i know, right?? why is it when we seem to get some normalcy(did i just make up a word??) and seem to get a nice calm going where we are discussing things in a civil manner....some troll comes out of their den to say something stupid and usually with poor spelling/grammar?
at least we all seem to be on board with how to divert these morons with our hankering of falafel...or hummus....or tzatziki!

"We took a pickup, a tent, and a shotgun," recalls Scott. "We went out thinking it was a wild frontier."

walstib, I know your question about "normalcy" was probably rhetorical, but I'm a dork for trivia, so I thought I'd let you know that Warren G. Harding beat you to the punch.

I wonder if the rest of America is starting to feel like the avett brothers are being shoved down their throat?

--
Team Mohegan #3

I don't think the rest of America cares. Most people are concerned about their own lives. It's just those of us who are fortunate enough to have the leisure to care about a band and music.
