I'm wondering to why we have a new point system. Do we get rewards? Is it just a competition to see who is the most devoted Avett fan?

Since they reduced the points for first reply from 25 to just 5, I'm not really motivated to answer your question.

i'm sure something will be brought to light.... probably just have to give it time.... that or we may all be under some huge psychological test - which is being administered by the Dharma Initiative

We're supposed to get some kind of rewards for the points. But its def not a competition. I think it's just supposed to give those who show their support on the boards a little something extra.
I was wondering the same thing, but I think we'll all find out more about it soon, they're still working out some kinks. I'm so glad I checked back in on the website, this is pretty awesome overall!
im not really sure either. Im sure there is some kind of raffle that you get automatically entered in if you get a certain amount of points
I heard that for 1000 points you will get to make a song request for the setlist.
Trading in 20,000 points will get you a set of broken banjo strings
Asking the same question over and over will cause you to lose points.
But seriously, it is just a different way of doing post count.
Can I trade in my set of broken strings for more points?!
i think for a million you should get a signed banjo or cello
Am I the only non-competitive person alive? I don't care about points. Free tix would be nice now & again, but I have better things to do than rack up points just for the sake of it.

^^^ i'm right there with ya angi... I refuse to go all "post-whore" up in here just to try to get some magical number of points that gets me some prize that for all I know is only a figment of someone's imagination. I'm truly happy with the music that brought me here... that's all I need.

The multiple points -- oops, posts! -- is a result of the slowness of the site. Hopefully that will ease up soon...(fingers crossed)
