pregnant & due 8/18/09 son's to be named Avette, will be at Charlotte - help to acknowledge my wife's passion for TAB
Hey all,
Just thought I'd share what a huge fan my 36yo wife is. We first saw the Avett's at Telluride a few years ago. I took my wife to her first show in 2007 in Orlando at the Social. That was it!! She was sold. Not since the Grateful Dead had I seen her so enamored and fanatic about a band. She turned into a little school girl psyched to go on tour. We drove the next night to Tampa to see them instead of going to our office Holiday party.
She took it then upon herself to fly to Santa Cruz and San Fran and catch those shows in 2007 and 2008. She's still super pissed at me for losing the videos she took in santa cruz when my hard drive crashed.
We moved back from Denver to Atlanta this past year and saw them in Athens and Chattanooga. We've been super psyched about the new album and Charlotte shows for a while.
HERE"S THE NEWS!! She's as pregnant as pregnant gets and our due date of 8/18/09 is around the corner. We have pre-sale seats which we've been going back and forth on as to the safety for the baby. I'm a physician and moderately comfortable with the road trip knowing that Presbytarian Hospital in Charlotte can help her deliver if we need to while at the show.
She's been set on naming our son, if it's a son (since we didn't find out) Avette out of her love for the band as well as our family's love for Corvettes (mostly because of the band though). Tie that in with her passion and determination to make it to Charlotte, and I thought it would be a story worth sharing and that the fans and even the band would like to know.
We'll be sitting in section 107 row F seats 4 and 5, hopefully positioned well enough for her to see while staying seated.
Nothing would surprise her more than being acknowleged by the band or fans or anyone for all she's doing for the visceral live experience that is the Avett Brothers.
If anyone reads this and has the notion to help gain some momentum of attention towards Alisha and her story, that would be awesome, otherwise, just know what a profound effect this great, honest, passionate band has had on a couple of middle aged music fans about to start a family. Cheers and thanks,
Chad (chadlevitt@yahoo.com) Alisha (303-519-4832)

If you are a physician you can deliver the baby at the concert. That would be recognition.
yeah, we shoudl try to time the delivery to occur during I & Love & you or maybe November Blue, eh? It'd be nice if someone could bring me a bucket of warm water during the procedure.
I will handle the bucket. I will bring a frosty beverage for you as well.
I could bring some towels. Towels are good, right?
I think it's great that she's going to try making it! I'll be a few rows ahead of you... I'll say hi if I can.
Your child's name will be Avette Levitt? That actually kind of goes together. Nice!

Btw, the hospital in Gastonia has a really nice birth center. At least, I came into existance there with no problems.

I was 8 months pregnant when my husband and I attended the Dave Matthews Band concert in Raleigh, NC with The Avett's opening. I was lucky considering the crowd was minimal because they began early and most folks were still tailgating. The little man loved the music... he didn't stop bumping around the whole set. I was pleased.
Now that he's 2 months old... he loves to hear me sing and play The Avett's for him. I can't wait until he can start singing with me!

happy's not the word, you make me free...
Great story and best wishes. I had pre-term labor my last pregnancy where I was in the hospital about twice a week to stop the contractions. We went to a concert after they pumped me full of whatever it is they give you, and luckily, I didn't go back into labor that night!
That's the day before my birthday, quite a good time to be born indeed! Congrats amigo! We'll wave to ya! Grab a bandana or two @ the merch table to either wrap the wee tot's head or sew into a onesie, down the road of course. And personally, I think Avette is a wonderful name for a girl as well. Good Luck!
I second olejesus, Avette is also a nice name for a girl. Alisha, if you do go into labor at the show, it will be an awsome story to tell your kid when he/she grows up. Have a great time at the show!
My daughter was at a show the day before her due date. She said the baby loved Bob's bass.

Rejoice always, Mark
what a great community this is!! I hadn't even thought about Avette for a girl. Our girl as of now is going to be named after our grandmothers.... Estelle Jacqueline Levitt. Maybe the next girl can be an Avette if we get two in a row. Thanks to you all and do come by and say hey during the show if possible!! We sold our presale GA floor tickets so she could sit during the show.
Does anyone know if our seats will be blocked by the stage? I tried to ensure that they'd be in front of the edge of the stage but it's tough to tell from the diagram currently up.
I like the bandana into onesie idea.
We'll put all of your support and comments into the baby book.
Much love,
C
I think people would trade with you if you need to move forward/back a row
I also think Avette is a great girl's name. By the way, I'm an OR nurse so call for me if we need to do a C-Section at the show. Good Luck!!
Chad,
I was assured that the set up would be like this chart.

Not like the chart shown on TicketMaster. It should make for good sight lines.
I will be in section 107 Row B seat 1. It’s marked with a little red X.
Congratulations, I look forward to saying hello.

Dave,
Thanks for the clarification. Please do look for us a few rows behind you as I'm sure we'll be noticable. I was at telluride bluegrass this year, and, not sure if you heard, but Dave Byrne was a showstopper that affected the entire festival. YMSB covered him a couple of times and kept telling everyone how blown away they were. He really is a musical force.
We're in for some true artistry, yet again, come Saturday.

Cool. My wife and I saw Metallica at the Charlotte coliseum while she was pregnant with our first child. We are in section 107 right behind you.

my very pregnant friend that just attended a show also echoed many of the sentiments stated...it's so great how the fetuses (fetii?) love them some avett brothers.
i'm in the GA section, so unfortunately won't be going anywhere for the length of the show, but we'll all wave to you up there! congrats!
Sunday, do you happen to know how many seats are in each row? (whereabouts)

I just know that the lower the # the closer to the stage. I don't know how many are in a row.

Ah... I found a photo that shows how many. It's a school photo, but it works!

I think I have seats 11-12, section 107, row C.
I'm bringing a friend who has never seen the Avett Brothers before. I'm guessing she is going to get hooked.

The Cary contingent will also be in 107, Row C. We've each participated in a couple of live births (of our own offspring) so we will help out with the labor. Should we hang a banner or something?
David, We'll be glad to see you again! Will Hester be there?

If I ever have a son , if I ever have a daughter, I don't want to tell them that I didn't give my all!
the seating does confuse me, quite a bit :/

"I am a breathing time machine, I'll take you for a ride..."
if this show won't hook your friend, with thousands of locals screaming in synch, then your friend has no hope of being a fan.
I need to make a shirt for Alisha that says Avette on board or something to that effect.
I'm having trouble putting an avatar pic on the site, so the section 107 crew should just look us up in row F and say Hi!! We should be very recognizable.
I can't tell you all how psyched we are to see them on their home turf. There's something huge to be said for seeing TAB at small intimate venues without big crowds, but those days have been waning over the last couple of years and after this new album, they may be nonexistent down the road.
This stands to be an epic, landmark of sorts!
And BL (baby Levitt) will be there at the turning point
Wow Chad! Very impressive. I am copying the email sent out by Avett Nation, in case you hadn't seen it. The nutshell is that they are filming a documentary about the fans and their stories and such. They are filming interviews Friday night at a place called Tavern on the Tracks, southend area of Charlotte and then supposedly on Saturday at Bojangles too, so look for them...yours would be a great story to include! Best to you and your wife.
Small camera crew in Charlotte looking for fun, energetic, outgoing Avett Brothers fans (ECU and out of town fans encouraged!) to be included in a project to be released in the near future. If you are interested and will be in Charlotte and available this Thursday through Saturday, please respond to dixon.kristi79@gmail.com and include some information about yourself (hometown, a bit about your background, what the Avett Brothers mean to you). Please also provide a phone number and attach a picture of yourself if possible. We look forward to hearing from you!
I'm glad to hear you're gonna make the show after all. These are memorable times. Have fun and don't fret!
A pregnant friend of mine thought she was gonna deliver at a Hackensaw Boys show last fall, even went to the hospital later that night...they said it was false labor, just a happy guy in there ready to come out and greet the world.
A week later, a bouncing baby boy did indeed arrive, full of vim and vigor and partial to bluegrass.
There's more than one way to induce labor, and an Avett show's as good of a reason as any (Just hope your little one waits till it's over!)
we've already got plans for telluride next summer with the little one, so bluegrass should be in the aural blood.
