Questions for Dolph about Columbus presale

Questions for Dolph about Columbus presale

Apparently there was a presale through Artist Arena for the Columbus show today.
However:
1. many of us didn't receive the email about the presale, and we all normally get the emails with no problem
2. there was no notice that there would even be a presale, so for those who wanted the tickets, and actually received the email, it was pretty much out of the blue EXCEPT that
3. a fan found out about the show last week and at least anyone who'd noticed the topic on the board had an idea it was coming up.

I'm hoping you can let us know why so many of us didn't get the email. I don't care about the Columbus show for myself, though many on here do. Plus I'm concerned about upcoming presales.
Also, do you think we'll get more notice of upcoming presales? It just takes more than an hour to find out about a show and makes plans to go. Plus we like to try to plan on being near a computer when we know that sales are happening. I get the relatively quick turnaround time to give us the best shot at tickets, but in a case like today, many people had no shot at them anyway.

I am hoping this was a glitch and a one-time thing, but there have been so many problems with Artist Arena presales, that it's getting disheartening.

On a related note, how many tickets were you guys able to buy for this show? I hope more than 2 as was the case with the last round of presales for these upcoming shows--I'd hope at least 4 for seated shows, as many of us go in groups of 3-4 and would hate to split up.

Thanks for checking into it and letting us know!

Replies for this Board Topic

Jenn--Thanks for starting this topic. I echo everything that you said.

There is a 2 ticket limit now. Boo for that. Guess we'll have to split into pairs when getting tickets.

I'd also like to add that I'm beyond frustrated with this AA pre-sale stuff. Seems like the ball was dropped again. How many times will it take for y'all to see that this IS NOT working for the fans?

Thanks, Jenn.

I did not receive an email and always have before, though one time I received it quite late.

It would be really great if we could have a few days notice of the presales, since many of us need to make work adjustments and financial arrangements.

there's only one thing here worth hoping for

So is it possible to increase it back to 4? Is anyone else even interested in that besides me?

--
Wish me luck, I know you think I'll need it.
For all the hardest roads we have to walk alone.

I like the two ticket limit. It gives more people a chance to score.

I was able to order 4 tickets this time. When I ordered for Athens in October I could only order 2. I hated it for Athens because it split up the group I'm going with.

Someone was nice enough to give me the presale info, but even though I have my tickets for the show, I still have not received the e-mail. I'd like to know what's up as well.

And if it compromises truth, then we will go.

I have always had trouble getting "THE" emails! If it weren't for a friend getting them and letting me know about things, I'd be outta the loop.

Same email address for years
Signed up here, multiple times to rectify, seems I get the initial email and then I fall off the list?
Doesn't go to spam, trash, etc.
Does indeed make me lose sleep at night... Eye-wink

Thanks for posting this. I didn't receive an email either. I always had before. Four ticket limit, please.

I received the email an entire hour and 12 minutes before the presale started, I don't see what the problem is.

I wasn't planning on going but then I realized that it's Memorial Day Weekend so what better time to go back home? I was able to get 2 presale tickets a few minutes ago.

"I wonder which brother is better, which one our parents love the most...he said I love you and I'm proud of you both in so many different ways."

Since this was a one off show announcement we only targeted fans in a three state region.

Aha, it was targeted. Thanks for the explanation, I appreciate it. makes me feel a little better.
But a lot of us do travel for shows, so I hope that this doesn't happen in the future (family, pre-planned vacation, an opportunity to visit out of state friends.) Just my thoughts, of course.

Any word on the maximum ticket limit? Seems some saw a 4 max and some saw a 2 max. I hope that it's back to 4.
Thanks, Dolph!

May I ask what states? Being in West Virginia, especially on the Ohio border, and not getting the e-mail seems very strange.

At least one Ohio family got skipped.

Rejoice always, Mark

I will try and address these email issues.

I didn't get one either...I practically live on the IN/OH border.
Wahhhhhh!

Thanks for trying to figure things out for us, Dolph. You know we all get a little sensitive about these things...Only 'cuz we love y'all. Smiling

Thank you, Dolph.

Didn't get one either and I live an hour away from Columbus...

While I'm happy that I got a presale email even though I moved to NC, I wonder if I'll miss out on any NC presales....hope not.

THE PRE_SALE IS SOLD OUT? GREAT.....(FART NOISE)

Hey all

Out sick yesterday and just noticed this.

We have been targeting tour emails using zipcodes so that we don't end up filling your boxes with info that's not relevant to your area. We'd send it all in one email but unfortunately the info does not come in all at once.

Looks like our geographical targeting missed some of you. I'm looking into it on our side. Is it possible that any of you signed up for the list and entered your zip before you moved to the Columbus area? If so you may want to resubscribe.

Meanwhile we'll investigate over here.

Lars

Thanks Lars! I for one would rather be inundated with emails that aren't pertinent than to be cut out of something that might be. For example, I live in Charlotte, but am traveling to Ann Arbor MI for the show on March 9th. I would have liked to have been in the loop for that one...luckily @yogini is hooking me up with tix, or I'd be really whiny and no one wants that! Smiling
Also, if you could somehow figure out why it seems I don't get any emails at all, even after re subscribing several times, I would appreciate it!!!

Thanks again!

Thank you for the explanation, although I find it unacceptable. I don't mean to complain either, but I travel for many shows. I live in Georgia, but spend my summers in WNY, so there may be shows in other states that I can go to that are not "targeted" to my zip code. So I agree that I would rather be inundated with emails also, as many of us travel outside our own area to attend shows.

A little embarrassed to say: But with us, Dear Lars, there isn't anything that ain't relevant. We plan vacations/family gatherings/general travel around whatever show we can catch here-and-there.

May I suggest that you might want to extend those kinds of targeted emails to *at least* anywhere within, say, a four-five hour radius ( i'm not sure of the equiv. in miles/i'm math-challenged.) of the venue? That's about all us old people are able to drive after a show on a weeknight anymore.

Again, thanks for keeping present and attentive to us. We're grateful, truly. Smiling

"one with Earth and one with God"

I have a huge problem with these targeted emails. I frequently travel out of state for shows (as do many others on this board) and I'd hate to miss out on pre-sales because my zipcode wasn't targeted (especially if this crazy 1st 30 early entry & upgraded seats business continues). Sure, I like to hit close shows as much as the next person, but sometimes my work schedule makes it difficult to make it to those shows, so I opt to hit shows that are further away (example: I live in KY, but I'm going to Colorado in April). I don't like others to pick and choose which shows I go to, so it would be nice to know about all pre-sales/show announcements whether or not they're in my geographic region.

Casting another vote for inundating our email boxes. Smiling

Please fill my inbox with Avett related email. Smiling

Also, thanks again for listening!

You're dealing with hardcore fans. There is no reason to not send out all emails to all who have signed up. Trust us, we'll not complain about having advance notice for tickets, no matter where they are playing.

I also vote for inundating our email boxes. Thanks.

Message received. We're especially sensitive to those of you who travel to see the band and want to know everything.

Thanks for listening, Lars. Smiling

Thanks for being so responsive, Lars. I too am firmly in the "send me everything" camp and I'm very appreciative of your help with this issue.

Much thanks here, also. Don't want you to think we are an ungrateful bunch.

I will add my thanks to everyone else. I live in Ohio, less than two hours from Columbus. No change of address. I did change my email a couple months back, but this was one of the first places I updated that info. I am noticing that I don't seem to be getting any Avett emails. I know that I did not get the one concerning the Twitter offer.

How early do the emails usually go out before the presale?

Anywhere from a couple hours before to some times not at all. I know I've experienced both. (not to worry you, but it happens).

"I need HEEEEELP!
But I'm on it. I'm on it."

Submitting my e-mail address again, just in case. Want Savannah pre-sale tickets on the 16th!

Opting in... thank you

yes, i'd like anything and everything sent my way, too!

Burn the questions. Burn the shame.

I also agree that all emails should be sent to everyone.

And that the limit should be 4 tickets.

Now, as an excited fan who is eager to attend her first live Avett concert, how do the pre-T2QHUsales work? i received an email last Thursday about the upcoming Toronto show and was told that I could pre-order tomorrow (Tuesday). I have also read that people have had problems with the pre-sales.

What should I expect?

expect to receive an email that will tell you 1. what time you can buy tickets 2. what website to use to buy tickets and 3. what the password will be.
it may be an hour from when you get the email (which could be anywhere from 8am on) or it could be anytime that day.

please don't anyone copy the password on this site. I'm sure anyone would be happy to facebook or pm it, but I made that mistake early on, and someone kindly pointed out that that is a mistake. I was trying to be helpful, but it makes sense.

good luck, Toronto fan!

For all the hardest roads we have to walk alone.

i also agree with having emails sent for all shows. i'm a traveler too. but i do like the 2 ticket limit only because it makes it harder for scalpers.
