Give the love you find until it's gone
Damn, I should have driven up to Baltimore!
i should have crawled to Baltimore.

I gave to you my ugly brown coat, you made it pretty when you put it on....
Man, that's a great setlist. I never manage to make it on the right night for If It's The Beaches. Sigh....

I would voice my pain, but the change wouldn't last.
All that comes, it comes here to pass.
Can't believe this setlist. I'd also have crawled to Baltimore, just to see the soundcheck!
i would love to have seen letter to a pretty girl. man!

Burn the questions. Burn the shame.
Honestly, I usually don't like Bob's songs, but I think it was one of the best songs if the night (perfect for the location). First time I've seen a Bob song live - always fun to get something new. The entire show was a lot of fun and the crowd was awesome. They had monitors throughout the venue showing the show with multiple camera angles - it would be great if they would ever released that on DVD.
Fabulous night all the way around. All the guys were in great form and spot on with every note of every song. Setlist was perfection for the location. What a treat to hear Bob sing again. We decided to take the front row of the balcony and not try to fight the big crowd. Really amazing from up there. At one point I looked down at the huge sea of people below and became so overwhelmed with emotion...pride, joy, excitement...This journey has been and will continue to be one of my life's true blessings!

PG from Cedar Lane AND If Its the Beaches - please play that on Tuesday, pretty please.
Can't wait to hear from Jen & Marissa!
Fantastic show! Drove up with my wife from Richmond for her birthday (she did notice that it was a slightly self serving gift), well worth sitting through the DC/Maryland traffic, though. It was nice to meet you, Yankee Clipper, and some other great fans.

Awesome, awesome show! They sounded really great, and looked pretty happy to have a really welcoming and excited crowd. I loved the vibe in the room, although could have done without some of the pushy, drunk kids near the front screaming out the wrong words to songs. They looked really dapper all dressed up, and even with some random issues (Seth's mic had no audio for the first line of "And It Spread," Scott's mic stand kept falling over and hitting him), they were the Avett brothers we know and love. Loved when Scott used the kickdrum mic to sing since his had fallen again, and when Seth tore his tie off toward the end. Was very cool to hear Bob sing, my first time hearing him do a solo one too. We saw him after the show and he said he was nervous about doing that song, which was really sweet since he totally rocked it. And I have to admit, I swooned a little when they did "If It's the Beaches" - didn't think we'd get it since they just did it in Baton Rouge.

Burn the questions. Burn the shame.
Hi all - just posted my videos from Thursday night: http://www.youtube.com/user/lovelikethemovies
Had other ones but didn't upload them because they were full of people yelling so you couldn't really hear the guys
shegetsby, I uploaded "If It's the Beaches." Made me tear up watching it again. Enjoy!

nice thanks for uploading those

thanks for the videos, lovelikethemovies. I'm so glad you got Letter To A Pretty Girl!

Meanwhile, there's Scott's voice, one of the most emotionally naked in any genre, merging with Seth's more guarded intimacy to sound like angels arm wrestling and tears drying on a cheek
awesome. thanks for posting!

"I have found myself in a place that I've never been. A place that I thought that I would never be. The glowing end of a TV screen."
I couldn't make out what it was that Scott sang in 'Paranoia' as it happened, and this is my best guess after watching the video tinyasian took.
Can anyone confirm or have another idea of what it was?
So hard to hear after he backs away from the microphone. I think you may be right, though, David.
Also.........guys, Lisa captured Scott's jazz hands in Slight Figure of Speech

I knew I wasn't the only one that did jazz hands during Slight Figure!

lildeadhead: that pen she uses to keep her setlists? it's a human-finger bone. dipped in the blood of the ones who yell out during "murder in the city". poetic, no?
Thanks for posting, Lisa! It's so nice to be able to relive the entire concert
Also, I sent you a PM.

the show s great. i went with a group of friends that had never seen them before. they all left really impressed. i felt a little bad because they were talking during the opener. ah well. i knew i should have brought in my camera. i hate that i didn't. i really hate that i didn't. I couldnt have been happier to see these guys in my own state. its the first time and i've seen these guys 5 times! it was nice seeing everyone again! I'm sure we'll be running into each other down the road.
charmcityleo, i swear i have seen you at other concerts around baltimore.
lovelikethemovies, according to your videos you were right behind my group. my friends head is in some of your shots. sorry my friends were so tall...
--
- Jane
No worries, Jane - being tall is an advantage I wish I had at these shows! Your friends were nice about it, the girl with the blond hair (sorry, didn't catch her name) moved over a few inches when I told her I couldn't see from behind her
They were much nicer than the pretty tall drunk kids who pushed their way to the front right when TAB came on and thought no one would mind!

Ah, David, I wondered what he said. Nice. And did anyone else catch the face Scott made when he sings "They said I hope that you will never change"? it was priceless.
--
Wish me luck, I know you think I'll need it.
For all the hardest roads we have to walk alone.
Thats my friend Lauren. She is really tall. i know the group of people youre talking about. she came right up next to stirred and i and stood in front of my friend. she said she was "looking for her brother" I turned around and said, hey, are you going to just stand here? and she said yes. i said no you're not, you're not going to stand in front of my friends. She moved behind us and i guess in front of you. it's so rude. we got there early so we could get a good spot, then some idiots find their way upfront because they push through the crowd. i wasnt having it, and i let them know.
--
- Jane
That's why I want to stand beside you at concerts Jane
Seriously. How rude and did she really think people would believe the younger brother story? I was hoping that everyone insisted that they go back where they came from. The one practically stood on my son. pfft.
--
Meanwhile, there's Scott's voice, one of the most emotionally naked in any genre, merging with Seth's more guarded intimacy to sound like angels arm wrestling and tears drying on a cheek
I'll stand beside you anyday. i can't take bad concert etiquette. its really isn't hard. if you follow the golden rule, you'll be set. do unto others as you would others do unto you.
i'm not a mean person or violent but don't mess with my friends. that's all.
--
- Jane
Ugh, I hear you. We came early so we could be right up front too, and then people just push their way in and ruin the vibe. They eventually moved behind us after we told them to cut the crap, and then spent a lot of the show screaming out random things during the slow songs. We would much rather hear Scott and Seth than these people!
--
I just want my life to be true
Just want my heart to be true
Oh boy, that is too bad that they ended up near you. At least they were behind you, I guess. I'll bet anything that they were the ones who yelled out "Yep" loudly, during My Last Song To Jenny. I had the impulse to slap someone when that happened.
--

Oh i remember that! My initial reaction was to give a nice little slap across their face but I was too into the song to even turn around. The crowds at their shows are getting worse and worse, atleast we have somewhere to vent about it!
Thanks for sharing my annoyance, guys - we just got unlucky at this show. I'm all for everyone having a good time and enjoying TAB in their own way, but it's not ok to be obnoxious and pushy and to ruin great moments in songs! Still loved (almost) every minute of it though

An excellent list of songs! I would have been happy with just hearing the encore. If It's the Beaches brought tears to my eyes and overwhelmed me with love.
