Hmm... based on my iTunes song rankings:

Emotionalism
I and Love and You
Four Thieves Gone
The Gleam
Migonette
The Second Gleam
Country Was
A Carolina Jubilee

[ something more to say than 'hello and goodbye, i hope that you're okay' ]

Mignonette
I and Love and You
The Gleam
A Carolina Jubilee
The Second Gleam
4TG
Emotionalism
Live Vol 2

Excluding I&L&U b/c i havent listened to it yet, i'd say:

Emotionalism
Gleam 2
Mignonette
Carolina Jubilee
Four Thieves Gone
Gleam
Country Was

But any order that has been posted/will be posted is fine with me!

No. I refuse to do it.

This album has changed everything, I can't decide.

I need these songs on my itunes, and I need to make new playlists combined with other, older songs...to make the new "best of TAB" playlist.

Until such a time, I can't rank my albums. Too hard.

Emotionalism
I and Love and You
Migonette
Self-Titled
The Second Gleam
Country Was
Four Thieves Gone
A Carolina Jubilee
The Gleam
Oh What a Nightmare!
Darling.
Double-Door
Volume 2

Ah come on Angi! You can do it Smiling

It is an ever changing list anyway. I could be feeling Emotionalism later in the week and it moght bump up to #3

Ricker - 4TG will always remain in that spot .... Hardy Har Har!!!!

Do the best you can and that wont go unseen

Surprised to see Country Was so low on most lists, ( at least 2 of my all time top 10 TAB tunes on there) but thats one of the greatest things about these guys I guess, they draw fans from so many different musical backgrounds.

heres my top 5 most played

Mignonette
I L Y
Country Was
Carolina Jubilee
Four Thieves Gone

Emotionalism
Four Thieves Gone
The Second Gleam
Carolina Jubilee

And I'm not sure how Country Was fits in there and really those are not particularly set in stone.

Mignonette
Emotionalism
Gleam
I&L&Y
4TG
Carolina Jubilee
Country Was
LADD
Live Vol 2
Nemo Downstairs
Second Gleam

Just gonna talk studio albums here, not live or the EPs:

Emotionalism
Mignonette
ILY
Carolina Jubilee
4TG
Country Was

I keep trying to rank them and end up changing my mind so I'll agree with Oldsorryman.

Mignonette has always been my favorite so that will be hard to beat. The rest are equally amazing and too hard to decide between.

Emotionalism
I and Love and You
The Gleam 2
The Gleam
FTG
Mignonette

Mignonette
Four Thieves
Emotionalism
Country Was
The Gleam 1/2

I don't care where you're from...you're a part of the family and you're part of the story /Jim Avett

they're all tied for first!

Here's my humble take:

I and Love and You
Emotionalism
Four Thieves Gone
Mignonette
The Gleam
Country Was
Carolina Jubilee
The Second Gleam

I feel so sorry for Second Gleam, because I really enjoyed it, but alas someone had to bring up the rear.

Emotionalism
Mignonette
Four Thieves
I&L&Y
Carolina Jubilee

Only heard I&L&Y twice now, but I think it's gonna land at 1.
Followed by:
Mignonette
Live Vol.2
4 Thieves Gone
Emotionalism
Gleam I
Gleam II
Country Was
Carolina Jubilee
Mourning Silver Bell and I have to include Jim Avett And Family even though it's not strictly TAB, it's still really good especially on Sunday morning.

Top: "Emotionalism"
Runner Up: "Four Thieves Gone" and "I and Love and You" (tie)

hhmmm... i thought to myself that compared to "name your favorite TAB song" it would be easier...

...i traded my heart for those days...

I've listened to I&L&Y a handful of times, but its still too early for me to rank it. I seem to like this album each time I hear it. I'm also going to leave out the live ones. So the others...

Emotionalism
Four Thieves Gone
Mignonette
The Gleam II
The Avett Bros.
Country Was
Carolina Jubilee
The Gleam

Anyone know where to get:

Live at Double Door Inn
The Mourning, the Silver, the Bell
Country Was
The Avett Brothers s/t
Nemo
Margo

besides secret record store stashes and eBay?

That being asked, I'll rank

A Carolina Jubilee
Emotionalism
I & Love & You
Live Vol. 2
Four Thieves Gone
Mignonette
The First and Second Gleam

I hate to put the gleams at the bottom, because they are both masterpieces, and the first one was how I first got hooked on the boys (it was actually that one hook from "When I Drink", you know, that one in the chorus?), but since they're both short I can't really judge them as albums.

But they all kinda come in first when I think about it.

I'm like my grandma: short, but I stand tall, playing every card that's dealt to me. Some days are aces, and some days are faces, and some days are twos and threes.

You can DL The Mouring, The Silver, The Bell from itunes. Do it. It is great.

I consider my Avett collection to be a single entity. Therefore, I shall not rank them individually.

That is all...
