Recording Equipment?
I've been looking into purchasing recording equipment in hopes to create a studio where I can record my own music and start my journey down the long hard path of the aspiring musician.
There is so much impressive technology out there that is compatible with this and that, with effects that make you sound like him, her or them, which is cool and all, but all of that stuff doesn't interest me much and it boosts up the price. In the end I just want an honest unassuming recording unit.
I love the clarity and sensitive recording of the Gleam especially
So my question is...
Does anyone have any suggestions or information on what The Avett Brothers used to make and/or record those pretty sounds, past and presently?
Thank you!

I don't know personally what the Avett's used on The Gleam but I know it was recorded at Electromagnetic Radiation Recorders, and here is a list of their equipment.

They have a very nice list of gear there. I'm currently attending Audio Engineering school in Los Angeles and it's a fascinating field. I would suggest getting either logic or preferably, protools. You'll need a nice Analogue to digital converter, this could be something as easy as a single channel interface. Then from there you'll need a mic! That would be a very good starting point!
Let me know if you have any other questions! Feel free to email me!

Hey,
Thanks a lot!
You have been a great help. I always have questions.
I have logic, an interface, and a mic and I've been working toward that recently.
If I have questions I'll definitely consult you.
Thanks again
