I'm with you, flafan. Opening for DMB is probably a great opportunity to gain a lot of exposure and they're probably being pulled in a ton of different directions right now, but I was really looking forward to May 2, just as I was looking forward to the show in October.
I'll just sit here, listen to the albums, and keep my fingers crossed. Some other good bands have come and gone, and some are still coming, but nothing like the Avett's.
WMNF's concert with the Avett Brothers, postponed once because of a baby, has to be rescheduled again because they are going on tour with the Dave Matthews Band during the spring. The concert will likely be rescheduled for some time in July. We will not have the date until after the New Year. We will not be able to consider requests for credit from people who already bought tickets until after January 5.
Thanks, OzarkBilly - I saw the WMNF announcement right after my original post.
It just doesn't feel right - to cancel an already re-scheduled concert because a better opportunity came up. I've been an avid (Avett?!) fan for a couple of years but the enthusiasm isn't the same now.
The good thing is I've been more open to other bands with promising sounds who are happy to get the gig and play like it may be their first big break.

July is a long ways off, but the Avett's on the 11th would be a nice birthday gift for this guy.
