Rolling Stone Breaking Artists

Rolling Stone Breaking Artists

RS sends out a weekly email that I subscribe to... each week I glance and delete but today my jaw drops as I see that the Brothers are the RS Breaking Artist. There is a really nice video about the sessions with Rubin and a glimpse of a new song. Cover of the Rolling Stone can't be too far out of the picture soon.

Dolph the video is great - curious is that Crackerfarm's handy work?

The machine is turned on... enjoy the ride

awesome!!!!

what's that tug o' war pic from?

i love how scott is eating his breakfast during most of his speaking. Smiling

Does anyone else think the song in the background at the beginning is January Wedding? You can hear the banjo which was mentioned in the IndieBlog preview, and the lyrics I can make out sound fitting.

Edited to add that both the clip in the background at the beginning that I am now sure is "January Wedding" and the bit of "Ill With Want" have me 10x more excited for this album. The unheard songs are going to be incredible.

the four-wheeler part looks like it is from some of the documentary footage shot a couple years ago, yes?

Sweet

I still dont like RS Smiling

"i love how scott is eating his breakfast during most of his speaking. Smiling"

Haha, yeah I thought it was funny.

That was great. Even more excited for the new album now

Ill With Want sounds great. I guess it was originally called sick with want since that's what Seth called it?

if that is indeed january wedding...sigh. it's gonna kill me when i hear it in its entirety. when you can tell you're going to love a song from just a few seconds...yep, i'm gonna die.

Oh lord, this killed me in the best way possible. I might have even teared up a little. I cannot wait for this album!

lildeadhead: that pen she uses to keep her setlists? it's a human-finger bone. dipped in the blood of the ones who yell out during "murder in the city". poetic, no?

wow Ill With Want sounds amazing! so does January Wedding.

Cool video. From their 'current issue' page, it looks like there may also be a write-up in the new issue a la Spin. I have a subscription so I'm looking forward to seeing that.

BobZ. used the term "ghosts of Columbia" in another thread, and I can't help but think there have been, and will be, ghosts everywhere in the coming months. You'd like to think that its' because The Avett Brothers have reached that level by following up Emotionalism and The Second Gleam with something so grand that it can't be overlooked.....but you've gotta think there is a lot of 'pay for play' going on here.

So if ever someone says to you "Life isn't fair, get used to it"
Then you should say "Well It might be if folks like you would let it be."

Holy s***! Our favorite band is going to be the greatest thing in the world of music in a matter of weeks! I can not wait to listen to this album. After watching that small video and hearing that brief snip of song my hairs are all on end. I love this band and its fans! Charlotte is going to be something!!

jerry, you're ready to catch us when we all melt into pools of goo if/when they play these new ones, right?

This is the work of Crackerfarm. Dolph

I think I'm a puddle of goo just from that video.

BTW, I'm conspiracy-laden.

i know, becky, that's what scares me. take your level of gooey-ness resulting from such a small clip, extrapolate that to the length of a full song, and...poof! gone.

I, too, am all gooey. and I agree with everything in your post, Jer.

There was a dream, and one day I could see it, like a bird in a cage I broke in and demanded that somebody free it.

all smiles here.

Q: Who of those that have been here for a while are suprised that they're blowing up like this? A: none

Q: Who of those that have been here for a while are LOVING this exposure? A: all of us (even if we wanted to keep them all to selfish selves)

Q: Who will be able to overlook the boys after this new album? A: NOT EVEN ROLLING STONE (no matter if you hate the mag or not, heykyle)

I'm so glad the album's so close now. Can't wait to see what they play at Harvest Fest... and am TOTALLY jealous of those in Charolette this weekend.

Enjoy yourselves thoroughly.

yikes. unbelievable.

Ill with want sounds SO good. Didn't think it was possible to be more excited for this release.

So true R chasei! So true!

I love this video. It looks and sounds a wee bit early for Scott and Seth. (I just imagine Scott thinking, "I haven't finished my coffee or my Cheerios...um, where are we again and what's today?") I'm even more excited about the new songs; I'm pretty sure "January Wedding" will turn me into a crying, gooey mess, and I've only heard what's in the video.

I also love how excited they are about this record and how they say it's the best they've ever done. I'm happy for them.

Just got the new Rolling Stone, there is an article entitled "Artists To Watch" with 6 bands, one of which is the Avett Brothers. There's a nice little half page write up along with a picture. This album is going to be huge.

Bravo, on another amazing production by the people with Crackerfarm

This just makes it even a little harder to wait for the album. Anticipation is a b****.

I read in an interview with Crackerfarm somewhere that they were planning in releasing the documentary around the same time the new album comes out. I bet a lot of this footage is from it. I can't wait to see it.

How many of y'all keep going back and watching this video to hear these songs? I am so excited for the album, I can hardly stand it. It's gonna be huge, I just know it. We're fixin' to lose this band to the world.

At the end of the set, the old man who was going to be behind the wheel for the long haul home said, "Boys, that gave me God bumps."

Big ups to Catfisher for actually setting up an account and submitting a comment.

Smiling

I tried but was rejected. I think the computer sensed my lack of regard for the magazine.
