Scratched discs in deluxe box
Got my deluxe box today and both the discs are scratched as hell. The demo cd scratches are light, but there is a very deep gauge in my I and Love and You cd. Not sure if this is inherent to the way they are packaged or if mine is an anomaly.
I love this set, but there's a few things about it (bent up autograph litho, ridiculous sticker thats almost impossible to remove, and now scratched discs) that are making it harder and harder to enjoy. For 100 bucks these things should have been thought through. Not blaming the band, and again the set is beautiful, just seriously flawed.

OMG that sucks so bad. Have you contacted Skyroo?

I just did, but I'm really bummed still. I don't want to have to send the whole thing back when I just got it. Seriously pissed at Skyroo for myself and others that just got screwed out of celebrating today as we should have been able to.
holy shmoly that is horrible!!!!!!! oh i'm so sorry.
My I &L&Y disc is scrached also! When I opened my set it was just floting around. It still work fine and I LOVE IT!
it's probably Greensboro's fault blasto...

blasto2236 i am sorry to hear that about your disc. i hope that everything works out for you ! i just opened mine very carefully about an hour ago... the disc are fine but there are some worn edges on the record covers.
My discs were scratched, too. I agree that the packaging might not have been thought through as well as it could have. They still work fine, but if I wanted this as a pristine collector's item, I would be peeved.

Kind of a raw deal for 100 bucks... that sucks dude
I haven't even got mine yet!! I'm seriously annoyed, I got an email days ago saying it was shipped. Wow really sorry to hear about the scratched discs for all you guys...AGH. what a disappointment.
My friend got his yesterday (still waiting on mine) and the edges on most of the artwork and the record sleeves were worn or bent. The records had actually started poking through the sleeves on the edge. Hoping mine is in a little better shape.
My received my deluxe box yesterday and my autographed litho was also bent. My biggest complaint was with the sticker keeping the vellum sleeve closed. Thankfully I was able to remove it without tearing the vellum, but it left a horrible residue that I am afraid is going to end up damaging other pieces of the set. I didn't have much time to go through the entire set last night so I haven't checked either of my CDs or LPs for scratches, but I will make sure to now. I don't know who was in control of the manufacturing of the deluxe sets, but for $90 they could have made a few better manufacturing decisions - like stickers with removable adhesive. Once I have a chance to look over everything I'm going to make sure to give Skyroo my $0.02 in hopes that will help them improve on future projects.
Mine was in really good shape. Nothing bent, scratched, worn, or anything. I have to assume that skyroo had nothing to do with the condition in which your order arrived at your door. Shipping service is the key. I work for a trucking company, deal with claims and stuff, and the drivers of the vehicles that moved your box set from place to place are probably mostly at fault in this case.
If the box was sliding around in the back of a 53' trailer full of mail, banging side to side every time the driver took a corner, then you can't really blame the people that shipped it out. It was probably in perfect shape when it left their facility, and they're probably just as Pi$$ed off as you that it arrived the way it did.

Talked to Skyroo and they're sending me a replacement which makes up for everything. Now I can keep this new one in pristine condition. I assume they'll want the defective one back. Or maybe I'll get two out of the deal.
Wow...now I am waiting for the set to get here so that I can check it. Thanks ya'll

Alright, blasto! Sweet stuff

In fact, after playing the discs, they play okay. I'm not really all that upset about it as I would never resell this set anyway. I have the demos on my computer now, and a spare cd copy of the album I bought yesterday. So those discs can just chill in their sleeves and I can just pretend they're in pristine condition. I sent Emily at Skyroo an email saying nevermind, the fact that they were willing to go to such great lengths to right the situation was good enough for me.
Blasto, you sound like a decent man.
Doubt they would have wanted the damaged discs back, but thats cool of you to be so understanding Ryan. I know how bad you've been anticipating its arrival. Its such a great day, just got back from the gas station and everybody in the lot had the pleasure of listening to January Wedding with me while I pumped my gas.

I folded the sticky parts (top and bottom) of the vellum sleeve in first. That way, the stickiness doesn't get onto the box, plus it helps keep the sleeve closed.
lilybear,
Did the same thing, works great!
Updated to add : They had already packaged and prepared my replacement for shipment by the time Emily got my email! Guess I will go ahead and reluctantly take advantage of their kindness!
Blasto...glad you are getting another set. You deserve it.
I left the sticker on the lower fold, then, when I put the prints back in, closed it back up and re-"sealed" it with the same sticker.
