The John Prine cover was Way Down. Thanks for posting!

thanks for the prompt "assist" on that. what amazing energy tonight. 13 repeat songs from reading PA show, but tonight's crowd was
so ON and the band responded in kind. well worth 2 hour commute in the rain for our family!

Amazing night--I have seen seven shows in the last 12 months and none seemed to have the energy that I saw tonight. Have to say, my favorite moment was when they gave a shout out to Bob. I definitely missed seeing him up there spinning that bass especially since it was his hometurf of NJ! I know something is going on in his life that is keeping him from the road, and I only hope it isn't anything too tragic. PG from Cedar Lane was also amazing, Scott just took hold of those old lyrics and delivered them fresh and anew and so raw—like he had just written the song yesterday. I, also, had an insanely long commute back to Brooklyn, but totally worth it.

Amazing night! My first Avett's show definitely won't be my last! We were right in front of Joe - he has such great energy & puts on a great performance!
From what I saw the boy's seemed to be in top form - lots of old favorites & some new gems as well. The crowd's energy was great as well - rain can't deter us Avett fans!
My favorites were Talk on Indolence, Cedar Lane, Shame..and Kick Drum - purely because of the interaction between them/the crowd Smiling

Also glad they gave a shout out to Bob - so everyone can stop wondering - he will be back Smiling

We also endured a 3 hour roadtrip in downporing rain....well worth it and would do it again in heartbeat.............HArd Worker is one of my favs...so super excited to hear it........every song was spot on and my feet hurt from stomping along!!!

This really was an amazing show. Sitting (of course we never actually sat) right off stage left behind Nicole Atkins and her family. She joined the boys for a beautiful version of Pretend Love. We love it when the Avetts come North and she's there (last saw her with them at Radio City). There definitely was an incredible amount of energy at the show...Scott actually jumped down off the stage at one point and gave everyone in our section high fives! This was my fifth show - probably not the top for me in terms of setlist but there were highlights including Denouncing November Blue, Murder in the City and Talk on Indolence (always my favorite). Definitely missed Bob and hope all is alright. Feeling sad now because I probably wont get to any more shows this year. Sad

it was my first avett brothers show and it went beyond what i expected it to be. i thought it wasn't possible to love them more than i already do, i was wrong. thank you for an amazing night of beautiful music

my first avett show surpassed even my wildest expectations. the way the band interacted with the crowd and went crazy while they were playing the songs was incredible. I and love and you, denouncing november blue and go to sleep were my favorites that they played. On a side note, got a fantastic event poster right after River City Extensions performance. Definitely seeing them again if they come back to my area again!

there was posters?! didn't see those before the show! can you post a picture? Smiling

@wkrsten River City Extension is great. I think they're taking some time off to work on a new record, but definitely catch them if they come near you. i saw them 2 weeks ago play to maybe 30 people in a basement bar and they were just as good as last night!

Sounds like it was a killer show with a killer setlist. Laundry room is a perfect finisher in my opinion. Whatta treat to see Pretend Love and Hard Worker. Best setlist I've seen in a while.

I'm jealous!

My first 'live' Avett Bro Show and I already can't wait for the next one. My wife and I logged onto this site for the first time tonight to check for a setlist and found you all here. Thanks for the help as I was unsure of what I was hearing but I was absolutely sure that I loved the set. I'm an old guy (59) and a veteran of many Springsteen shows and the energy at PNC last night was something akin to the Seeger Sessions show I saw there a few years back. I can't believe we stood up and danced for the whole damn Avett set! I never even did that at a Bruce show.

I hope that I see them again at a small venue (Count Basie Theatre would be perfect...hint..hint) before they really hit it big. And that could be just a matter of a short time, if and when they ever find someone to market and promote them. But then, I like the fact that they are our 'big secret' and we have them to ourselves at least for a little while longer.

I'll add my 2 cents about missing Bob. I've spent the better part of 3 months watching, listening, re-watching, etc. the Live #3 DVD and felt like I knew them all from that experience. I was in a bit of a shock when I saw the band hit the stage at PNC and Bob was not among them.

Anyway, I'm now looking forward to seeing them all together again at my second Avett show down the road.

ajaykay - I've been to two Bruce shows & I'd have to agree it is a different kind of energy...you do dance at Bruce shows, but it's more of a watching The Boss perform & go crowd-surf & all that than a high level crowd energy/dancing. Smiling

@thesecondgleam...I think my wife and I had seats right next to you. We got there while River City Extension was still playing. We were sitting on the end. Our actual seats were to your left, but we never went to them. When the guys came whose seats we were in, we went a few rows back because we wanted to be on the aisle.

Anyway, I think that was you...

Thanks for the set list at the PNC show. I've only been listening to the Avett Bros for around 6 months. This was my first show and I was sincerely blown away. I'm a 47 year old who brought his 17 year old daughter and wife. My daughter's reaction to the show was as equally enthusiastic. I've been to my share of concerts (Springsteen, The Who, Neil Young, etc..) over the years, but I was really drawn to the unique energy that the Avett Bros bring to their live performance. They have a special connection to their audience that I can only be describe as Springsteenesque. I don't care if you're not a fan of folk or country. Their music comes from such a sincere place that it's nearly impossible not be enthralled by Scott and Seth.

Just got home from Life is Good. Those videos will go up tomorrow. Can I just tell you how amazed I was at PNC? The seats were packed and the boys rocked it. I was especially happy to see Nicole! We saw her off stage dancing with Joe during DeVotchKa's set. I had a feeling she might we working her way out to sing with the boys. I was hoping it would happen when she opened for them in Reading, but in our (mine and Nicole's) home state... even better!

karissa - thanks so much for the videos! great quality & close up! Smiling i wish i brought something better than my measly phone to take video.

Stevebar..I'm in the same boat man! After Mountain Jam, I've spent a lot of time exploring Avett music and will be hotly anticipating the Omegang show. There is a unique quality to the songwriting and performing that I rarely feel with other groups. Glad to see the comparison to Bruce and Neil as the Avett Brothers are certainly in the same league. Be there if you can!

Bumping this to ask if anyone can post a picture of the poster if they got one (or know where I can see it online?)
Much appreciated!

@thesecondgleam i found this link

http://statusserigraph.bigcartel.com/product/avett-brothers-holmdel-nj

was this the official poster? because i want to buy it, too.

"was this the official poster?"

Yep

thanks for posting that! don't know how i missed that at the merch booth...got there an hour before the show & no posters/barely any shirts.

I got mine at the booth to the left of the stage, and it was hanging kind of down low so you couldn't see it until you got up to the counter, so you might have just missed it. It's also possible that the booth wasn't set up yet that early. On a side note, does anyone have the setlist for RCE's opening?

I didn't keep track of RCE's setlist but did get video of South for the Winter:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FC4Dkz216fI

I'm pretty sure they also played "Our New Intelligence" and "Mexico" . I saw them about a week before the Avett show so I may be combining shows Smiling I just wish they had a longer set at PNC.

@wkrsten: i asked on RCE's FB page about a setlist and this was the response:
(In no order) slander, ballad of oregon, our new intelligence, south for the winter, something salty something sweet, mexico.... slander and ballad of oregon are not on any of their cd's

Thanks 2blklabs. I got caught in traffic on the way to the show, and RCE had already played Oregon and Slander by the time I got to the main theater.

That poster looks a lot like the tabernacle one.

Nice videos Karissa!

i hate to bump an old thread but i just HAVE to second ajaykay's suggestion...

the Avett Brothers should come to the Count Basie Theatre!!

the PNC show was amazing even though i was waywaay in the back, but i imagine it would be absolutely terrific to see them in a slightly more intimate setting like that. ...and did i mention that the PNC show was amazing? not just because they're the Avetts, but their energy and performance that night was truly the best i've ever seen of anyone.
