Thanks buddy. I was starting to wonder if anyone was actually there.
Ach - this kills me! I had a great time at Springfest but had to go to a wedding on Saturday and miss the boys. I knew they would do November Blue since I wasn't there. I'm going to 3 shows this summer tho...I should hear it...
November Blue was amazing. In fact the whole show was great except for the fans and some feedback issues they were having at the beginning of the set. The more Avett shows I go to, the more I am getting annoyed by the obnoxious fans that seem to taint the experience. Springfest is such a great, chill event that is filled with love and respect between your fellow campers & music lovers for 4 days in one of the most beautiful and fun venues in the country. That whole vibe changed however for the 90 minutes the Avetts played. Their fans seem to be getting younger, drunker and ruder at an alarming rate. I will never understand why some people are incapable of treating others with the same respect that they would like to be treated with. Its a pretty simple concept. I will say that it was great seeing them back at Suwannee though. Its been 4 or 5 years since they last played there and it really is amazing to see how far they have come and how much they have matured as a band. Too bad the fans are going in the opposite direction.
Thanks for posting!
Definitely agree about the crowd.. Out of all the Avett shows I've been to this seemed to be the rudest crowd..at least the people around me. I was front row and I was next to a little girl and her mother and the little girl was being smashed up against the bar..This resulted in a fight between the mother and the couple pushing them.. It was just crazy that there was no self awareness of the people behind us.. It should be natural that if you a child being hurt and smashed (she was crying) that you would just stop. During the entire show people were shoving clearly trying to make there way to the front.. I understand wanting to be close at a show.. especially an Avett show.. but I feel like there's a point where you just chill out because there's no getting closer and it causes nothing but problems. Every time I am front row at a show I expect some craziness and obnoxious drunk people to be pushing there way to the front. Normally I just focus on the music and it's no big deal... but I did kind of have to turn around and try to get everyone to chill out at this show.
It really surprised me that the crowd behaved that way just because of the general vibe of the festival. It was my first time going and the whole time (except for the Avett show) it was really relaxed. It seemed like right when the Avetts came on stage I wasn't at Suwannee anymore..haha.
But --- Obviously still an awesome show!! The whole festival was really a fun time and I hope I get to go back again next year. If you haven't been, you should definitely try to go sometime!!
