Standing in front of Greatness
Hi all. I am starting a new A.A. meeting. Avett Anonymous, for those who simply can’t stop listening to The Avetts Brothers. (Typing with tongue firmly implanted against cheek) But seriously, The Avett Brothers have totally messed-up my musical enjoyment. I mean, once I have experienced greatness everything seems to pales in comparison. Heck… I have stood in front of some of the greatness: Johnny Cash, James Brown and Joe Strummer which all render my ears deaf to anything but greatness. And now, I have stood before The Avett Brothers, again finding myself in the presents of greatness. (Wow…The Avetts in the same league as Johnny Cash!)
Hope all ya West Coasters are enjoying Mayvett

Hi. My name is Katie. I've been an active addict for almost three years. My anniversary of the first time I heard them is coming up
im not sure if i want to be in AA, cause i won't my addiction to grow stronger. haha.
p.s. if it can
"AA" has been going on for quite a while. I saw my first show after "Carolina Jubilee" came out, so I can be your sponsor. You just have to surround yourself with people that "get it." If you don't you feel like you're crazy b/c you have heard this GREAT music and when you go to talk to other people about it (who haven't heard them), you may just very well never talk to them again. The addiction can be that strong.
Hi. My name is Jennifer, and I am an AA.
They have changed my ability to enjoy other music as well. They are the standard by which I judge all others.
Chris here - i just passed my two year anniversary on May 15th, 2007. I think i am in the stage where i am taking them for granted. I just watched the wonderful new vid posted for Walking for You for the 14th time in a row ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-ZWslJa2Sw ) and realized that i think it's perfectly normal and every band trades off vocal duties in all their songs and then harmonizes without blinking an eye. Brought back to reality by the "Do you think the band is on the verge of blowing up" post, where someone mentioned what is on the charts (Nickelback). I (think) i am flying about 3000 miles tomorrow to catch the two night stand in Portland, which means the addiction is at a new level (this after driving 6hrs to Indianapolis for a show). I know there are others on this board who are well beyond my current stage of addiction. We should probably try and establish an official "avett brother addiction stage levels" to help those who are the victims and those who are being affected by the victims (family members, close friends) cope with this.
They have changed my ability to enjoy other music as well Cookhouse, and are my standard - and definitely put them up there with the chances i have been fortunate enough to witness greatness.
Chris, what do you mean you "think"...? Since when was this not a definite?!?
Also...my addiction level is stage GREEN, that means I definitely must GO to a show within the next 2 days, or my heart may burst.
It also may burst upon attendance of said show, but that's a risk I'm willing to take!
Cookhouse: "They have changed my ability to enjoy other music as well. They are the standard by which I judge all others."
Yep. it's kind of a problem. I guess. Maybe not.
yeah, Chris, what do you mean "think"?? Hope it's still a go!!!
