Susan G Komen 3 Day for the Cure

Susan G Komen 3 Day for the Cure

I turned 30 this year, and decided I wanted to do something big to start this decade out right. Breast cancer has laid a heavy hand on the wonderful family I married into. My mother-in-law is the middle of three sisters who were all affected by breast cancer, she being the only survivor. I tried to get my family to be on a team for the Atlanta walk, but was unable to help them overcome the fear of the fund raising and distance. I decided to do the walk without a team, I want for my niece Kaitlin to grow up not having the experience of watching her mother go through breast cancer treatment. I know that the funds I'm helping to raise will go towards searching for a cure, raise awareness about the importance of early detection, mammograms for those who couldn't otherwise afford one, and to assist families with a loved one undergoing treatment currently.

I have raised the minimum goal to walk, but my personal goal is to raise $3,000. Any amount you might be able to give would be greatly appreciated.

I also have a hat that I'll be wearing during the walk. I'm currently writing the names of those affected by breast cancer on the hat. I'd love to be able to add the name of your loved ones to the hat.

Talking about Komen CEO Nancy Brinker, she is attempting to gloss over the belief that the organization is pulling financing for 16 of 19 Planned Parenthood clinics by exclaiming that the media's representation of events is “a gross mischaracterization.” Source of article: Susan Komen attempts to deflect heat from Planned Parenthood decision

gotta love politics.

Thanks for the post, tinkerloin and best wishes to you in meeting your goal!
