Wel, I'm no good for the rest of the day. I haven't even watched anything past Laundry Room yet. That version was incredible and rivals the Norfolk version on youtube. WOW.
Thanks for posting this!!! Off to watch the rest......

I think this is the first time I have seen Seth when he wasn't clean shaven or sporting a man-sized beard. I always assumed that beard was just one night's growth.
Thsi is the first time I'm hearing "Down With A Shine," and there's no one else in the office, so I keep playing it over and over as loud as my crappy speakers will go and dancing around like a fool. Not especially productive...but WOW I love this song!
I hope no one walks by the window. And I hope my boss doens't come in unexpectedly.

this is a great little show. thanks to the avett brothers for letting npr post it. what i don't get is how that person who's at the bottom of the screen could possibly be sending e-mails while sitting just a few feet in front of this band...
"I think this is the first time I have seen Seth when he wasn't clean shaven or sporting a man-sized beard. I always assumed that beard was just one night's growth."
It's on the actual homepage of NPR.org - That's some crazy exposure! I wonder how many hits it's getting - and not just from our fan community, either.
A chill ran over me and I teared up when they were playing "Laundry Room". I can NOT wait to hear this live!

"One foot in and one foot back, but it don't pay to live like that. So I cut the ties and I jumped the track, for never to return..."
I know I'm a tad late to the game on hearing Down With The Shine (which is how I believe it was announced), but WOW that was above and beyond amazing. Just straight up, pure 100% Avett Brothers..Love the 'sing-a-long' quality to it. I'm just going to go ahead and hold out hope that maybe they delayed the release of the new album b/c they had a last minute change of mind and decided to throw that one on there.
--
I wanna live, and I want you to live happy and free
I had that same thought when I saw the announcement about the delay, too. That song is really something. And look how quickly it developed! If this is at all due to their work with Rubin honing their skills...brace yourself, Avett Nation!
I have watched this many times already and have sent the link around to some friends. The first time I watched it, I felt like my heart was gonna burst and my head was gonna explode.
There may be songs out there more intricately written, and musicians with more skill, but there isn't any music I have heard anywhere else that affects me the way The Avett Brothers' music does. They write and sing with more heart than is imaginable. We are so lucky!!!!!!!!!

Saturday night's Columbus show was the first time i'd heard Down with the Shine, and I loved it. Been listening to it repeatedly from this stream, too...
I've been annoying my co-workers with this all day since I couldn't be at the Lexington show tonight. Down With The Shine is becoming my new favorite tune.
in the name of everything that's holy. oh man, you guys, i am just weeping at this (so i'm a crier, what?). it's the most phenomenal sound. everything so crystal clear, balanced, and beautiful.
scott's careful banjo at the end of laundry room? amazing. i love when he shreds it, but this added such a great dimension.
down with the shine? oh boy. i've seen this live numerous times and i swear i didn't know it could be THIS beautiful.
bella donna? well, this one always gets me (especially with the full band accompanying, the way they seem to be leaning these days), but in this mini-set...sigh. well, it just brought everything home, you know? in so many different ways.
the tears are for 2 main reasons:
1-the pure amazing gift of the music itself...we all well know the beauty that their songs bring forth, but to experience it in this intimate way, with such high quality to showcase everything that makes them so unique and wonderful...well, it just cut me extra deep!
2-as we have all hoped (and feared at times)...we are losing these boys to the world. i pray that comes across how i mean it to...this music they make has always been able to touch so many of us so deeply...but now, that day has come where everyone will know what we know. we'll never lose their music, or the love we have for it, but it feels a little like sending your kid off to college. the band will never "love" us any less as fans, but they're going into a whole new world. we love them, and we want them to experience all the success they could possibly want...but it still hurts a little.
sorry to wax so poetic...that's what happens when i'm not on the board for two days.
I've watched this many times now. marysstikal, don't feel bad, I teared up watching it at work yesterday. I'm so grateful that it's been posted because I don't think we will be making any more shows this year. I will have to live vicariously through you guys.

Even though we've known this for awhile and a LOT has changed just within the past year, I've REALLY been feeling this in the last week or two, and I've been feeling a little uneasy from it. With all this media, buying tickets to 2-3K capacity shows, the reality of the major-label release and everything that comes with it (the guy hired by Sony to take video in NYC), it's finally hitting home for me. Same as always--extremely happy for them, they deserve it all and are too good to be kept secret (so to speak), but the bittersweet feelings are there. So, yeah, I know exactly what you mean.
--
And your loveliness, no, it doesn't help
No, your beautiful smile don't help
I agree, marysstikal and chiixx. I have been feeling those same things just in the last couple of weeks. Painful and glorious all at the same time.

Last night, I dreamt the whole night long
I woke with a head full of songs
I spent the whole day, I wrote em down
but it's a shame
Tonight, I'll burn the lyrics
'cause every chorus was your name.
Amazing! I love the comment about the guy emailing above... he's probably emailing all of his friends like "dude, you'll never freakin believe who is playing in front of me now" hahaha

People don't quit playing because they grow old, people grow old because they quit playing.

I was just gonna post about this! My iTunes started auto-DLing this when I booted up today (unbeknownst to me), so I got a huge surprise when I went to check my updated podcasts. NPR really did something wonderful with this, such a quality recording and three great songs from the fellas. The gift that keeps on giving, for sure.
The zoom is so close sometimes I think you can see their whiskers growing. Kinda odd, that, especially full screen
I knew about the tiny desk concert for about a week, then I finally watched it, and was blown completely away. They sound so great! Down with the Shine was definitely my favorite.

YES ... just listened to it three more times. Office mates say I'm "addictied". Why yes thank you, I think I am.

Well Locust, Mount Pleasant, Concord.... LETS GOOO!
this is an awesome treat! the site is not blocked for me at work, so while cleaning my classroom I was able to watch! amazing!
So glad I'm the only one in the office today! I turned the volume up on my speakers and pretended I was anywhere but here at work...
Thanks for posting and making it a better Monday!

Listening to TAB is like the feeling you get just before you're kissed for the first time....and that feeling you carry with you just after that.
Love the comment someone in the audience makes about them swallowing an amplifier. Those guys have got some serious volume.
Such a great set for an intimate setting.
Counting down to The Paramount....
