Thomas Wolfe tix means what in Civic Center?

Thomas Wolfe tix means what in Civic Center?

So does anyone know or think they know what my tix from Thomas Wolfe will do for me at the Civic Center? Will I just be on the floor? Or have a seat?

I was stoked to get tix to Thomas Wolfe because it's a great venue. Any comments on the Civic Center?

Confused and not wanting to wait until Friday to find out! Laughing out loud

Give the love you find until it's gone

Though from what was posted in another thread, only those with Thomas Wolfe tickets that were bought in the presale would be receiving the early entry. The rest of us that bought in the Ticketmaster "open to the public" sale would enter the venue at the same time as those buying the new tickets for the Civic Center.

Am I correct in that?

theFAITH,
I took Steph's post to mean that there will be 3 entry times. One for the first 30 people who got presale tickets, one for all people who bought tickets for the Thomas Wolfe Event, and a third for everyone else.

That is how I understood it, Blasto.

if that is the case, that'll make me much happier

By the day of the show it could get as complicated as this.

4:00 the first 30 pre-sale ticket holders will be let in
4:30 the rest of the pre-sale ticket holders will be let in
5:00 the original general sale ticket holders will be let in
5:30 the first 30 from the second sale will be let in
6:00 the second sale ticket holders under 5’6” will be let in
6:30 the second sale ticket holders under 6’ will be let in
7:00 the all remaining ticket holders will be let in

OK, so maybe not this crazy but I see this turning into the most confusing show ever.

Or it could be like this:

5:00 the original 200 pre sale are let in ( the last 5000 to be let in start drinking heavily at the local bars it is NYE after all)
6:00 the remianing 2200 from Thomas Wolfe are let in and they start to "claim seats" for their friends that are coming later.
7:00 the 5000 (that are quite liquered up by now) stampede the civic center in search of seats and issues arise about "claimed or unoccupied seats". the early entry people get pissed at the obnoxious 5000 or they're pissed because they have been sitting in the same seat for 5 hours and they have no buzz on.
9:00 all is forgiven as TAB delivers another kick ass show

Thomas Wolfe tix means what in Civic Center?

It means you got screwed if you had planned on seeing/hearing a great show at Thomas Wolfe. And now you will not have any seats on the floor and if you want to sit you must go upstairs and then the sound is awful. Yeah, good work TAB!

Boo hoo, crybaby
if you're really upset about it give your tickets to someone else

Team Mohegan #3

It truly does seem lame...the Civic Center pretty much sucks. The tickets (with service charge) are about 50% more than they were at the Orange Peel last year...if you bought tickets for Thomas Wolfe this year you are not getting your money's worth. Last year they played three shows....this year it seems they want to make the same amount of money (or more) for one night. If they really wanted to make fans happy, they should have structured their calendar to play two shows at a quality venue, or do the Civic Center, but charge $25. Love the Avetts, but that's how I see it.

i too missed out on the NYE tix at Thomas Wolfe, but its a little bittersweet. I have to weigh the options of seeing TAB vs. expensive tickets where 2,500 people are let in before me.

Im also going with TWA presale, but im very excited for the new venue. Even though the sound was'nt the greatest in Charlotte at the back of Bojangles, which it sounds like is the case at CC, that was the first time I had seen the boys with a crowd that big. It was just exciting and LOUD and they deserved every minute of it. This is the first time ive ever purchased presale, and I dont even know if I'll use early entry. I kinda just like floating in when im ready, but im sure others will feel differently.

BLASTO - I hear what you're saying in the other thread about going to the location of your first show. that woulda been cool. I will experience this next year when we head up to Ithaca, NY. My first show was at State Theatre a few years ago and Im really looking forward to it. That said though I know you're genuinely happy for the band and other fans that missed out.

It is what it is right ?, lets have a great time and bring in the New Year in style.

Thanks, matthewsmike!

I think the massive gathering of the Nation will be worth any kind of hassle we have to deal with the night of the show.

Hey Vito,

Buy my tickets for what I have in them, $57 a piece with Ticketbastard charges, and I'll shut up about all of this. They are not a $57 ticket band at the sh!tty Civic Center. I would have paid $75 for them to stay at the Thomas Wolfe.

there are 3 members of Team Mohegan? uh oh.

Quit complaining mtnairnc. This isn't the place for it. No one is putting a gun to your head and forcing you to go. Get over it.

I'd like to see something like a poster/5 song download type fix for this like Charlotte. The venue change is a bit annoying but the resteraunts, bars, hotels, etc. are already a zoo on NYE. Adding a few more thousand to the mix is only adding to that.

I love the folks who only post when they have something to whine about. Classy. We have TW tickets AND are driving over 500 miles each way AND are finding Asheville hotels way higher than last year. I MAY unload my tickets because of the expense, risk of bad weather and poorer venue, but I will not blame the Avetts for opening the evening to more fans or making a few dollars. I don't remember anyone complaining when the boys were playing for next to nothing and living on PB sandwiches and OJ.

Rejoice always, Mark

Wow. Lots of emotions flying around.

SO...I guess no one will know until tomorrow what it means to have TW tix. I just didn't want to stand the whole show...or fight people just to see.

Orange Peel was great last year, but we all have to realize the intimacy of small shows is over (at least for a while). That's what happens when you sign with a major label. Laughing out loud

Still will be a great show because it is the Avett's. Hey, it's gonna be NYE...get drunk and have fun!

"but we all have to realize the intimacy of small shows is over (at least for a while). "

I totally agree, especially after the Charlotte Bojangles show. This should have been a seated show at the civic center from the very beginning.

bobzimmerman--you guys have to go! I will bring the flying squirrel.

Is everyone forgetting there will be free lodging for Avett Nation members in Asheville? Smiling

Free lodging for me anyway -- I'm staying at my daughter's -- but are there any hotels left?

I've got to admit, my back is hurting just from thinking of hanging around from 5:00 to past midnight. I think this year we're going to skip the opening act and come in about 10:00, like so many others. We're not going to be close to the stage anyway. I'll bring binoculars, I'll content myself with a view from afar and apparently lousy acoustics, can't drink cause I'm driving.... wow, sounds like fun. I guess I need to ratchet down my expectations of ever having the phenomenal experience of being close to stage again.

It's all about how bad you want it. The chances are still there, they just might not be as easy as before.

I chose to give up my tickets for personal reasons; not because I think there is a hidden agenda somewhere. That is preposterous.

Their only fault is trying to please everyone. When you try to please everyone you will make at least half of them mad.

And yes, it killed me to have to give them up but yes, there are more important things in life.

Merlefest isn't that long after NYE.

Please talk slowly. I don't hear good anymore.

I'm trying to look at it more as an Avett Brothers New Year's Eve Party. Many of us have seen them live in more intimate venues before so just look at this one as a different experience.

hear hear mysterwhitegirl. of course, some people will be there who aren't there necessarily for the boys, but i'm hopeful that most will just be plain excited to be sharing NYE together and with one of the best bands in the world ever. crowd that size can generate a whole lot energy, i have no less an expectation than that I'm gonna have a huge blast wherever I happen to be in the room.

I bought tickets for TW but I'm hoping/expecting it to still be blast. No matter where we are, we get to see Langhorne and The Avetts on the same stage. Excellent. I know the show is GA, but are there seats? Do we know anything about how to the venue will be set up?

Carolina one day I'll, someday I'll come home.

David, you gave up your tickets?!!! Now I am having second thoughts.....again.

So....free lodging? How does one become part of this Avett Nation? Are you the peeps with the cool Avett t-shirts?

And, with this update today we still don't know wtf it means to have a TW ticket. Are there seats???

I am with Iwhofollowthegleam when he said a "crowd that size can generate a whole lot energy, i have no less an expectation than that I'm gonna have a huge blast wherever I happen to be in the room."
