are there any traders out there who would be willing ot hook a brother up with some TAB shows? i have TONS of DMB and some pearl jam i can trade but sorry no TAB (YET!!). send me a message if your interested.

@itsDMBbroman -- The Brothers have made it very clear that they do not support the trading of their live shows. If they have live material to release, then they will and I'm sure the loyal fans will be made known about it. Any trading (this includes downloading torrents, limewire, etc.) is against the Brothers' wishes.
IMHO, a visit to tablive.net is a slap in the face to the boys on SO many levels.
Thanks for being here and supporting the band. You will find this community is great, and I have a feeling you will make many new friends here! So glad to have you!

The Avett Brothers allow taping at their shows, but ask that they not be traded or sold, I believe. We have asked for a FAQ or a sticky thread to explain their policy, but so far, there is not one. If you use the search function, you can probably find several topics that explain this more thoroughly with posts directly from management.

While I don’t doubt that’s your opinion, it is ridiculous. Most major bands have fan web sites as well as official web sites. It does no dishonor to a band to spend one's time, energy as well as money to operate a fan site. I’m willing to bet MAO has done more to support this band over the years than 99% of his detractors.
I am glad to know you will avoid TABlive like the plague.

As for your comments regarding trading policy and what goes on at tablive.net...um, do you have a clue as to what you're talking about? It seems not.
It's fine to have an opinion and take a stand, but you really should have your facts straight before you start making accusations, especially directed towards people who are pillars of the community you think you are speaking up for. These folks know the rules better than most. They also know which shows are part of the public domain and which aren't. Do you?
Everyone is welcome at tablive.net especially if they are contributing productively to the discussion.
You are right about one thing. Over there, The Brothers have taken somewhat of a backseat, in favor of discussion of other topics of interest like cooking and beer brewing, and other music that we've grown to love thanks to the recommendations of the Avett fan community. These all have their time and place. Do not confuse this with a disrespect for the band or its wishes.

@CoffeeBomb - While the shows being promoted at "that other site" may be public domain, they go directly against the Brothers' policy. There are links and instructions detailing how to download Avett shows off of bit torrent sites. These shows were not sanctioned by the band to be distributed. Have you been to "that other site?" Maybe you should get your facts straight before you tell me to get my facts straight.

I don't know anything about the legality of this situation, and even if I did, I wouldn't post it here or anywhere else b/c posting legal advice/opinions on the interwebs is a good way to get busted for the unlicensed practice of law, and I would run the risk of losing the licenses I do hold in two jurisdictions.
And that's seriously all I think I can contribute to this conversation other than to say this: if you don't like it, don't go to TABLive.net. It's too bad for you PGFO, b/c that site represents the community that this site used to but no longer does. But you've made your opinion well-known, and while I respect it, I totally disagree. Ain't it like most people, I'm no different, we love to talk on things we don't know about.
There are no "instructions" for bittorrent, downloading, or trading on tablive.net. Nor are their any obvious promotion of it, which is how a regular visitor might miss it links to OTHER websites on the topic.
There are links to Wikipedia topics which many TAB fans have expressed interest in.
There are links to bittorrent sites with a disclaimer. There are THOUSANDS of popular bittorrent sites, but sadly many of them do not discriminate against bootlegging official releases and live show recordings, and I have not included those sites in the links page. The sites you will find for there for the most part are communities of OTHER live music fans freely trading the music they love respectfully.
All of these sites, all of this technology, all existed before tablive.net. Now there is a place that helps fans better understand it all and not be denied that which is freely available to others.
Neil Young doesn't like tapers either, but after years of being ripped off by bootleggers he adopted the attitude, and I'm paraphrasing, "If it's out there, then I want everybody who might want it, for whatever personal reason, to have it. So don't horde them, trade them." Live torrents are regularly announced on most all Neil Young boards.
So until the band can get EVERYBODY to stop trading shows, I'm gonna help fans find them. Hate me all you want.
And don't even try the "the band will quit allowing people to tape" argument. Neil Young didn't allow people to tape until just recently and their are thousands of Neil Young shows out there from years ago. He's even released a few and I own two that I already had bootlegs of, so there goes the "what if they want to release it themselves" argument too.
Just stop fighting now. We get how you feel, but you're not making any friends.
BTW....how'd you come by that copy of Live @ DD?

PGfromOhia, I just read all of the fourteen posts you have made. All but one of them seem very antagonistic in nature. I am not sure that that does anything to promote the band or the feeling of community on this site that you have been speaking of.
What I have found to be the most rewarding about this site and the other (because the people are the same) is that regardless of opinions, discussions, even sometimes arguments, every single one of these same people have done things for me and for each other, unconditionally. They are kind and gererous and flawed. We all are. I'm proud to call them friends, even some that I have not had the honor to meet, yet.

My copy of Live @DD is legit. I paid good money for it second-hand on the internet. I don't have a digital camera but I will have a picture to upload as soon as I get together with my friend that does.

I'm a fairly new fan, I've only been consumed by everything Avett for a couple years now, and I've been on this site for less than a year. However, I have felt welcomed by everyone I've met at shows or had conversations with on the board. Not many here are honestly condescending to new fans; however, no one here seems to like an attitude like you displayed earlier. I think that's all.
Everyone should just be nice, always... right?

Each time Sunday has taken the time to link his collection photo has been in response to someone asking a question that the photo answered. Each time he has addressed policy matters has also been in response to someone asking for the info. Your right he was never forced to but I think its pretty awesome that he takes the time to try and help. His Avett photos on Webshots have had over half a million views. HALF A MILLION! I heard his radio show this morning and it was, as always full of Avett rarities.

It's apparently a big complicated mess and they may just be no more than flipping the switch away from it, but no tellings when the switch can be officially flipped. We need to find out if he can create a podcast to make available on a site like some other shows.
We, of course, could host it over at that bootleg/renegade site. Maybe break it down into hour segments and make a new one available every day do people could listen at lunch.
