UNLICENSED Avett Bros Photographs on eBay :(
This irritates me:

Hopefully whoever you are, dear wholesale retailer of fine crap, I hope you're reading this:
ANYONE can go to a show with a semi-decent point and shoot camera, weasel his way to the front and just start snapping. Better yet, ANYONE can head to the local Wal*Mart (*gasp*) with their camera card and make prints for roughly $0.19 each.
Don't be that guy.
What you're doing is, essentially, pocketing your mark-up by taking money away from a group who deserves every penny they make. You're cheating out great artists like Crackerfarm and the rest of us who actually make art for a living.
And you're smart enough to show your contact information for all the world to see:

Hey, I'm originally from Rockwood, PA. We used to whoop you in Soccer playoffs when I played. My parents sell crafts at Fall Foliage, and I may be up from VA to help out. I'll wear an Avett shirt if I am up there.
I wonder if I claim to be a freelance concert photographer can I use my concert tickets as tax deductions?
haha... these pics aren't even that great... nothing worth buying

Well Locust, Mount Pleasant, Concord.... LETS GOOO!
The pictures are really pretty generic. I think I took one like that with my phone.
@blackness, I PM'd ya!

Baltimore, Philly. Come sooner!
I totally understand the argument but I can also see the seller's POV as well. In these times man, you gotta make a living somehow and if selling pictures gets that $$ to support your family, go for it. Not at all saying I support the unlicensed selling, but I guess its the ways of a laissez faire economy.

I don’t agree with you. Personally I have never tried to sell an Avett photo. I have given my permission to Dolph to use any of them any way he might want to. I have had shots used by 4 or 5 magazines and have always made them available at no charge. BUT if I ever wanted to sell one, if anyone was crazy enough to pay me, I would feel no shame. I am also pretty sure the Brothers would not feel like they were getting ripped off in any way.

I mean, if HE took the photo, is it not HIS photo to do with as he pleases? Professional photographers usually get paid for their work, and I don't think they necessarily owe the subject of their photo anything, unless said subject has specifically requested that the photos not be sold. Heids, can you provide your lawyer wisdom on this one? I know that Allie Bennett, our very own board member and Team Avett co-founder, sells prints from her website. And those are HIGH quality.
gotta agree. photographers do it all the time. they own the rights to their work. unless there's something on the ticket or from the venue that says otherwise.

Fact, there must be a sign posted or a statement on the back of the ticket to let all people know not to take pictures to sell for them to be owned by the company. I agree, the picture is pretty weak. However, I do believe that if you have more talent than this guy, and you feel like you want to sell the pic, why not???? Do it. It is your photo. I ain't sayin, but I'm just sayin.
