Weather Warning for Friday - Ithaca
Personally, I don't worry about the weather too much. But I am sure some people will be traveling to the show on Friday in Ithaca. Brunt of the supposed storm should be in the southern tier on Thursday. Depending on where you are coming from, it still could affect some travel on Friday. Right now, the warning is in effect until Friday evening and significant accumulation is predicted. Still some time until Fri night but just wanted to make people aware of the possible weather so if any plans need to be adjusted you have some time. Can't wait for Friday night!!!

Thanks for the warning. I'll be coming from the south and know a lot of people coming from the north and east. Let's hope this doesn't amount to much if anything at all.

looks like I will be having the last laugh with my hot cocoa stand.
Update: Been snowing since last night and it continues. This isn't even the storm that is coming through later today that is foretasted to drop 12-18 inches in the area. It is supposed to slow down on Friday AM but pick back up again at night. They are predicting very difficult travel conditions through Saturday AM. I am certainly not old enough to tell you not to travel, but I am old enough to recommend getting a hotel room for Fri night and driving back home in the daylight on Sat, even if it stretches your finances a bit. I'll give some more updates on the local weather if people are interested.
There's no chance of the show being cancelled, right?
According to what I heard from folks who talked to the venue, the answer to that is no, they won't cancel the show unless the band doesn't show up. And I *think* the band went to Ithaca straight from Athens, so they should be there (or on their way) now, so I don't think that's going to happen.

Ain't it like most people, I'm no different, we love to talk on things we don't know about.
Heids, your right about the boys going straight to Ithaca from Athens. I spoke with Justin as we were going by the bus last night and told them to be safe on their travels. Friends of our were already on the road and said they were very slick.

I've become not the man that I was.
thanks for the updates, they are most definitely appreciated! i'm hoping the drive isn't as bad as everyone i know is saying it will be!
Can we get more info on the weather/road conditions? I'm throwing around the idea of bring my work truck (4x4) but the wife doesn't like that because it only has a cassette player in it and we couldn't sing the all of emotionalism on the drive up there. Any help would be appreciated.
OK! From the promoter's FB page "Dan Smalls Presents: have no fear... the avetts are here. show is ON tonite." So no worries there!
Weather: Storm is still around and it's still snowing. Reports are saying the worse has passed but it will still hang around and snow most of the day. We definitely got a lot of snow, too much to guess at and I haven't been out yet. I'm not going into to work because I'll need to spend the day digging out. I can't open my back door right now from drifts. (FYI, I live 5 miles outside of town, and my hills get hit harder than downtown... it's lower elevation)
Road Conditions: They've not been able to completely keep up but this general area is pretty good with snow removal, so right now they're not good but they'll have the day and the snow is slowing. The main roads are better-ish; side roads, exits ramps and other such things will be the slushy, slippery area... that's just from local reports.
grateful3300, et al - I definitely recommend taking your best vehicle for bad travel conditions.
anyone know how the roads are from nyc to ithaca (I-81 N)? thinking about leaving in a few hours, but looking out my window the trip seems a little intimidating...
