The first one that bounces into my head is "the sky trades the moon for the sun". That is poetry! There are more. I'll be back for sure! Cool thread idea!

As I am currently digging "In The Curve..."

"But metal surrenders when oak trees meet fenders, and engines go through the front seat."

My wife's "I was young and love was fun
Now its so serious
Now all my fun has equal pain
Theres something wrong with this"

Mine "You're not a girl, you're the night of the homecoming game"

"We came for salvation
We came for family
We came for all that's good,
that's how we'll walk away
We came to break the bad
We came to cheer the sad
We came to leave behind the world a better way."

"We came for salvation
We came for family
We came for all that's good,
that's how we'll walk away
We came to break the bad
We came to cheer the sad
We came to leave behind the world a better way."

Close 2nd for me

"Always remember, there is nothing worth sharing like the love that let's us share our name..."

there's so many more, it's almost not a fair question, haha...

by the way, i'll probably have about 100 posts on this thread... if that's okay with everyone

That one knocked me out first time I heard it! Great thread.

"My heart is like a mason's hands of weathered skin. Each scar makes it harder for me to hurt again."

"sometimes i use curse words when i pray..."

"I was a one line wonder in my own love song"

For some reason those lyrics hit me like a ton of bricks.

OLW

I love that lyric!

"November Blue"

"Bit by the cold of December. I'm warm beside your smile"

"The words in an song that Hoon sang to me"

Definitely that one.

also

Winter didn't die, she was murdered
and you are the culprit, I am the same

The weight of Lies will bring you down and follow you to every town,
'cause nothin' happens here that doesn't happen there,
so when you run make sure you run to something and not away from 'cause lies don't need an aeroplane to chase you down..

"I wanna stand up yea and I wanna stand tall
If I ever have a son if I ever have a daughter I don’t want to tell em that I didn’t give my all.
I just want my life to be true."

Just one of so many favorites.

Arghhh!! Dave, you beat me to it! absolutley one of my favorite lyrics from any artist...

great stuff...

"well, i'm in love what can i say, the sunlight burned my fear away"

amongst so many other favorites.

Sorry. I forgot this one.

For every year of knowledge gained
Is a negative year I've earned.

I love that lyric.

Smoke In Our Lights has some great lines, in fact all of their songs have great lines and it is hard to pick just one.

Mine is more of a verse than a line:

If it's the beaches' sands you want
Then you will have them
If it's the mountains' bending rivers
Then you will have them
If it's the wish to run away
Then I will grant it
Take whatever what you think of
While I go gas up the truck
Pack the old love letters up
We will read them when we forget why we left here

my God and I
don't need no middleman:smile:

Hate sits alone on the hood of his car
without much regard to the moon or the stars.
Lazily killing the last of a jar
of the strongest stuff you can drink.

and

It wont take long for me to tell you who I am
You hear my voice right now well that’s pretty much what I am

but like many said i have a ton these are just a few that popped into my head immediatly

"the day will come, the sun will rise, and we'll be fine." -please pardon yourself

I'm careful not to say that I miss you , cause sometimes I guess I still miss myself.

always remember there was nothing worth sharing like the love that let us share our name

and

nobody knows what lies behind the days before the day we die

i think those go pretty well in tandem too.

"But of all the beauty that I see
Out this window to the left of me
The thought of you it shines"

-Always remember there was nothing worth sharing like the love that lets us share our name

-So if ever someone one says to you, life isn't fair, get used to it
then you should say 'well it might be if folks like you would let it be

-And I've known others and I've loved others too, but I loved them cause they were stepping stones on a staircase to you

-they may pay us off in fame but that is not why we came and if it compromises truth then we will go

and basically every word of Gift for Melody Anne..

"So give me a try at describing just how difficult it is.
When you kinda love two girls to figure out which one you miss."

Lazy man finds an easy way, easy work for easy pay. I'm not listening there ain't no such a thing... as... that....
( HEY MAN!)

"Which is the poison and which is the wine? The scent and the colors are so much alike. And how much of each will it take to decide, when you're at the table alone?"

Just 2 of many..........both from the same song...

You can't make everybody happy all of the time

I'm so tired of being wrong

And, of course, can't forget.............

My Good Lord was with me tonight, he was riding with me tonight.........

OK, I know, that's 3.

Edit: OK, one more.....my sig line below, of course. Oh, so true.

Cool

funny thing that it's all true
I'll always love November Blue
but I turned her down for the beauty of the past

and

the last lines of if its the beaches

"I'm a little nervous 'bout what you'll think when you see me in my swimming trunks, and last, new york, i got raging drunk remember, one time, i got raging drunk with you"

"the day will come the sun will rise and we'll be fine"

and all of "left on laura, left on lisa"

that is way too hard of a question.

- If I could do what I did to you
The same to me
Then I would love for you to see
That I sleep with remorse
And regret hangs round my door forever more

- I'd give up the drinking
Just tell me how

- And yes we live in desperate times
with faded words and shakey rhymes
there's only one thing here worth hoping for
with Lucifer beneath you and God above
If either one of them asks you what you're living of
Say love, say for me love

- And if you take my heart
Don't leave the smallest part

- You're rising like the sun
That pulled the curtain on the night
Comin' through the window
To brighten my life

- I know what they say about me
Hell I started most of those rumors myself you see!

- Your yellow hair is like the sunlight
However sweet it shines
Bit by the cold of december
I'm warm beside your smile

- Tenderness and grace
How you've come to change this place

Actually pretty much every word to New Love Song.

Also every word to Smoke in our Lights, the imagery in that song is incredible.

Ok, I'll stop!!! But I could keep going!

1. Cause I've had bad lovers yea, that walked through my backdoor
I've wasted years walking for them gals, that's how I know you're worth walking for...

2. A lot of leavin' here, arrivin' there, tryin' to go just about everywhere, a lot of thinkin' about where i'm going next...

My two favorite

1a. Wasted with the moment we lifted my girl, stolen forever with you.

1b. Well I found God in a soft womans hair, a long days work and a good sittin' chair.

1c. I'll work that 9-5 for you.

1d. Be loud let your color show.

There are just so many!!

And I gave to you my ugly brown coat
You made it pretty when you put it on
Warmth in the early morn chill my girl
Warmth in the early April

"I loved my time here, didn't know 'til I was gone."

This one, for me...I'm from Greenville (sc) but am currently in Rock Hill at Winthrop. I guess I was the typical kid, ready to go off to college...being here in Rock Hill has really opened my eyes to how much I love Greenville. I go home whenever possible.

"Kill the doubt that strangles my self-worth"

"I will keep my wits about myself, disregard direction sent from hell"

"Oh my love, but we are bound to die, my heart is broke but you won't hear me cry"

Sanguine in it's entirety..these are just a few highlights.

Ive always been a fan of
"I just want my soul to feel brand brand new like a fresh coat of paint, we can make it anything but bluuuuuuuue, anything but bluuuue.

also
"Do the best you can and that wont go unseen"

So many, so many.

Here's one of mine which I don't believe has been mentioned yet:

I felt so surprised
When she arrived
Wearing a smile
Smiles soon turn to tears
Out on her back pier
After all the love how did I end here
-'My Losing Bet'

3. What's right for me may not be right for you
4. There's a country song on the radio, a country song, well what do you know? he's a city boy singin' country tunes, I'm a country boy with those city blues... this pretty much describes how I feel about living in Charlotte now and my opinions on modern "country music"

It's pretty cool to see how many people dig on Me and God.

Definitely one of mine as well...Its just a great way of saying everything is going to be okay.

Well I don't know
if my soul is saved
Sometimes I use
curse words when I pray

Your the back and forth sway of a hammock all day.

There really are so many, but:

All of Gift for Melody Ann, then

"I dream of children, we can call our own, watch 'em run around in the front yard, from the front porch of our home" -Offering

and

"I'll bring the victory in, if you want me to, ooooo"

and

"Well if I'm walking in the rain, and I hear you call my name, I would break into a run, without a pause" -Salvation Song

oh man how could I forget this!

If you take of my soul
You can still leave it whole
With the pieces of your own
You leave behind

The way that line is sung/screamed has a lot to do with why I love it so much.

And here are a few more that I love:

"You deserve the best, an anthem not my hand-me-down tune."

"A tear fell from my father's eye.
I wondered what my dad would say.
He said, 'I love you and I'm proud of you both,
in so many different ways.'"

"I have some friends, they don't know who I am.
So I write quotations around the word 'friends.'
But I have a couple that have always been there
for me."

Some say with age that a purpose comes clear
I see the opposite happening here
Are we losing the fight?
Are we growing backwards with time?

oh and one more:

I've grown too aware of my mortality
To let go and forget about dying
Long enough to drop the hammer down
And let the indolence go wild and flying through

From Jenny and the Summer Day:

"What a darling summer time
I have a car, I have a dime
Baby, Baby
I know that won't buy anything
But I would steal you anything."

and

"What a darling summer time
I have a home in Carolina
Baby, Baby
Not far from the city lights
But we can see the stars at night"

I love it!I love it!I love it!
I love it!I love it!I love it!
I love it!I love it!I love it!
