Murder, hands down, for me. If I had a second vote it would be for Late.
Noone can say that murder is not a good song. It is an amazing song and it is second for me. Right now i'm just really feeling Laundry Room.. Every line of that song amazes me.
i can't vote. i can't single out one i like better than the others. i'll work on it.
I personally am feeling "St. Joseph's" right now...it will be on The Second Gleam.

I love Murdered in The City!!! I can play or hear that song a thousand times, and it still makes me cry. What a fantastic song!!! I can't wait to finally get a recording of it, so I can listen to it whenever I want.
I would just like to say that I can't BELIEVE I'm the only vote for Solomon thus far. This is obviously a very hard poll to choose, but come on..... :biggrin:

Whereas I have heard "Murdered" for over a year now, and still love the song, the "New" songs hold just a schoche more appeal at this point. Toss up between "Kick Drum", "Can You Not See" and "And it Spread" w/Kick Drum edging by a nose...

I'm with you, billy...Solomon has the most beautiful melody..and the cello and upright with bow make it sing right to the heart.
How appropriate this thread comes up after saying Tin Man was my favorite song after seeing it 3 nights in a row.
I did not include Can You Not See because it is not necessarily new.. As far as Dream Appointed/Another Youngster, I tried to put up songs that they have been playing alot lately.
laundry room... and it spread a close second.
Probably because I've heard it more live but Solomon just beats out Laundry Room for me.

I like Murder a lot and think its a great song, I just like the more up beat stuff.
They're all awesome. Every new song has a frickin' laser beam on its head.
I've heard that Can You Not See was recorded for both Four Thieves Gone AND Emotionalism, but didn't really fit well with the other songs on those albums so it was scrapped for both. I can only imagine that it's once again up for consideration if it's made it this far. It really fits in with some of their newer songs better than it would have with either of the last 2 records. So here's hoping! But anyway, to answer your question, I'm pretty sure Murder is newer.
Although I voted for Tin Man, I can't stop singing "And it Spread." That song is just perfect.

I'm pretty sure Can you not see has been around awhile. I've got it on a live disc from 2005. MITC debuted in 07 if i'm not mistaken.
Such a difficult choice. Gut tells me "Laundry Room". But heart tells me "Solomon".
I go with heart.
I will now continue to hope Solomon is on The Second Gleam, and pray that Rubin keeps Laundry Room the exact way it is performed live.

I went with Murder in the City. This is my reason behind my answer, emotion. The first time I saw Scott play this, or every time for that matter, he plays with such emotion. Just like when they play St. Joseph's. Ultimately this is a hard one because they play all songs with such emotion.

Good thought on "favorite song of the week" - me being a relatively new fan, it's really nice that each month, or week, or even down to the day, I have ANOTHER new favorite Avett song. Can someone please tell me how this band stayed under wraps this long? My fave currently? Actually two - PG from Annapolis & Can You Not See - "how many times, did we have to say those words.....GOODBYYYYYYEE!!!" Chills and Goosebumps and Adrenaline Rush all in one when i hear that line.

My thoughts exactly. How did I, myself, not hear about these guys sooner? I just found them by accident in February, searching for music on Amazon. I can't imagine my life without them, no matter how retarded that sounds.

Without a doubt, Tear Down The House is going in my all time favorite Avett Brothers songs. I guess between live shows and Youtube, I've heard all but one of the songs on the Second Gleam now, and Tear Down the House takes the cake.
after listening i thought black, blue was going to be my fave... until i switched to souls like the wheels... but bella donna is wonderful too now so i'm back to square one.

laundry room is my new favorite avett brothers song today.... it changes from day to day ... i catch new things every time i listen to one of their songs .
I must say how impressed I am that my two favorite new songs are the top two (I voted for Murder....but my tag is from Laundry).
However I am amazed that SOlomon is not third. What a beautiful song.
I declare...TAB is becoming like Patsy Cline or Jeff Buckley to me. It nearly rips my heart out to listen to some of the songs, and I do it again and again.
