Awesome is right! And Justin Townes Earle covering "Far From Me" and Old Crow doing "Angel From Montgomery"...I can't wait until June! (Which is also the month I'm seeing the boys in Savanah!)

Prine’s stuff is pure Proustian existentialism. Midwestern mindtrips to the nth degree. And he writes beautiful songs. I remember when Kris Kristofferson first brought him on the scene. All that stuff about “Sam Stone” the soldier junky daddy and “Donald and Lydia,” where people make love from ten miles away. Nobody but Prine could write like that. If I had to pick one song of his, it might be “Lake Marie.” I don’t remember what album that’s on.

The subject of your post was just a shouted question. "DOES ANYONE KNOW WHO JOHN PRINE IS" In your second post you made it clear that you wanted to know if anyone knew who John Prine was. If this had been a post intended stir discussion about the Brothers role in the upcoming John Prine tribute CD It would not have been moved.

I know him. He is a great songwriter and he makes a wicked pot of chili.
