Cool! Walked in on technical difficulties, it looks like.

woot! 'bout time!!!

I keep shoes on from the time I wake until the time I go to sleep. I was in a fist fight once, back in high school, and I was wearing flip-flops. I found it difficult to defend myself without shoes on, so I always keep a pair on now. Just in case.

So we get to listen to you every Sunday? How fun is that?

I agree with all the comments above! I will be tuning in for sure!

Give us your time slot again, David.

Walking in on technical difficulties, will likely be a common occurrence. We just started up the summer schedule. Many of the DJs are new and don’t have a clue what's going on. Much of the equipment is new so even the old DJs are not familiar with it. It is a very loose station which is why I love being a small part of it. Many of the shows I like. Some of the shows I don't like. I will say Wed. has a strong line up from 8 am to 2 pm. Wed noon to 2 is all NC artists. I am also fond of Sunday from 8 am till 8 pm. Saturday has a very good traditional bluegrass show from 8 am to 10, with Roy Moore hosting The Old Country Store. He is one of the stage announcers at Merlefest. Roy really knows his stuff.

PS the stream will work fine in most media
players, but if you use windows media player, you will need to
download an adapter (which is actually very easy to do). you can
google .pls format if you need help. thanks!

The Sunday Morning Rehab Show is on each Sunday from 10 to Noon.

I'm interested to know what your typical playlist looks like, Sunday.

Decide what to be and go be it

It depends on how I feel when I wake up in the morning. It could be anything from The Avett Brothers and All Green to Warren Zevon and Zappa. I don't like to do much pre-planning.
Saturday evening will be spent with Jill Andrews and a large group of friends so I would think Sunday morning might have some of Jill's music and maybe some live everybodyfields. I always feature some rare Avett tracks. That's pretty much a given. When people call up with a cool request it can often change the direction and I always enjoy that. The weird thing about this webcasting is that I can no longer play multiple tracks by the same artist. There are some very weird new rules.

Very nice - looking forward to hearing you!

Interested about the rule concerning playing multiple tracks by the same artist. I listen to WNCW streaming a lot and they do what they call the Spindale Cycle once a week where they play an entire album by an artist. It's usually either a new release or a classic album. Also, on Friday nights during The Cosmic American Music Hour (which is now two hours long), Brad will often play 3 tracks by the same artist, back to back.

I have heard mention about that rule before though so I'm not doubting you... it's just that you brought it up and it made me think about how it seems as though maybe it's ignored or perhaps circumvented.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to checking out the station and your program, David!

The Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA") was passed by Congress and details the rules regarding Internet broadcasts that are eligible for compulsory licenses.

Below is a partial list of the rules that broadcasters need to pay attention to.

* Your program must not be part of an "interactive service." For your purposes, this means that you cannot perform sound recordings within one hour of a request by a listener or at a time designated by the listener.

* In any three-hour period, you should not intentionally program more than three songs (and not more than two songs in a row) from the same recording; you should not intentionally program more than four songs (and not more than three songs in a row) from the same recording artist or anthology/box set.

* You should not publish advance program guides or use other means to pre-announce when particular sound recordings will be played.

* You should pass through (and not disable or remove) identification or technological protection information included in the sound recording (if any).

That's just a few of them.

I understand that you can get around the three within three hours rule if you have a signed release from the band’s label. I am working on a few of those releases.

Wow. That's interesting in a nanny state sort of way. The DMCA continues to prove to be a huge PITA and the machination of corporations.

I liked Seth's shout out to WQFS for playing "At the Beach" a few times....How long ago was that David?...I'm guessing '04 or "05...

--
"We tune because we care"...Seth

After readjusting my settings a little, I finally got the stream to stop buffering in time to hear this nice version of "At The Beach"
This is great!!!! I've never lived anywhere that the Avetts (or this much good music, period) get played on the radio, at all, so this feels really special to me.

Oddly enough, I will be in Greensboro next Sunday morning and should be able to just tune in my radio to this show.

Congrats David, what a blessing to be able to hear this show now over my Sunday morning breakfast Smiling Thank you.

(p.s. I hope they're able to tally up how many people are listening...surely your show will have the most this week)

Checking in from Joisey.
Great show. Nice to hear an intro from Scott.

I'm listening too! Bummer, I missed everybodyfields, Avetts, and HGTR? Oh well, it's still a great show!!

Shoutout to Mao!!!

Curious who's doing this version of Little Sparrow.....is it Bettye Lavette?

(If so, way to keep with the the Avett theme. She always comes up when I do music searches for "Avett"...Sticking out tongue)

Wow I'm stunned that so many of you guys took the time to check it out. Thanks for the kind words. To answer a couple of questions the At The Beach was from the Garage in Winston Salem in 2005. Scott and Dolph had come up to the station that afternoon for an interview (Seth was to have been with them but he ended up closing on his house that day). Just About to Burn (with Paleface) opened the show and there may have been 100 people there at most. yep that was Bettye Lavett doing the Dolly Parton cover. The Wild Horses was Elvis Costello and Lucinda Williiams. If you ever hear something on WQFS and want some info on it just call the studio and ask the DJ. 336-316-2444

I hate I couldn't tune in today, as I was at work. I'll be sure to tune in next Sunday, though! I think to celebrate our freedom you should say screw the regulations and play as many songs by the same artists as you want. Smiling

Sure beats church...Sorry if that offends anyone!

Of course I miss the inaugural launch of the live stream because I had to be at work at 10 this morning for...ummmmm, what was the reason again....ummmm......oh yeah.....SCHEDULE MISTAKE. I was livid! Sucked so much. I just played drums for an hour. I swear I'm gonna end up buying a set of those electronic V-drums.

Anyway....I will not miss it next week as I am OFF and it's my birthday. I'm gonna send you a play list, Dave.

Laughing out loud

Actually....why would I? You always play stuff I love and those little nuggets every now and again I don't expect. Why mess with a good thing.

So true. And you just gave me another reason to be happy I worship on the Sabbath day. Gives me Sunday morning to relax and listen.

Great news! I used to listen to your show years ago when I lived in Mebane and before I read these boards. I always timed our Sunday drives to Burlington to run errands around your show. I look forward to listening to it again from West Virginia.

Don't forget to listen!

I'm so disappointed! Our modem was acting up this morning and by the time I realized what was wrong the show was over! I was really looking forward to enjoying my coffee this morning with some Sunday Morning Rehab Show. Blah, stupid modem.

A child on your shoulders makes any outfit look normal regardless of how bazaar it may be. - Scott Avett

Awesome show this morning Sunday. It was very different from the normal Rehab Show. For those that did not hear it, it started out with the Waybacks doing Come Together live from Merlefest then 10,000 Words acoustic live but after those two the rest of the show was all songs about the American condition. It ran the gamut between Simon and Garfunlkel, Dylan and Crosby Stills, Nash & Young to Hendrix’s Star Spangled Banner and some very aggressive Bowie/Nine Inch Nails. Its hard to see how it could all mesh together but it did. I wish I had a recording of the whole show.
I tried to win the free the Chatham County Line tickets but I could not guess that Aztec Two Step song. Better luck next time.
