In other tour news...
This past Sunday, we played at the Summer Camp Festival in Chillicothe, IL.

We wanted to take a minute to thanks our friend G.Love, who joined us on stage this weekend to perform "The Fall." We are all big fans, and couldn't have been more honored! (See above picture from the show).

Thanks,
The Avett Brothers

I have to say that I was thoroughly disappointed with the Avett Bro's portion of the show. The bro's performance was excellent; but the sound was just awful.

I found that the sound was overly loud all day, though tolerable well off to sides of the stage. One had to shout, I mean really SHOUT just to be heard by a person standing next to you. However, when the Avett Bro's came on, the sound was easily twice as loud as earlier. One could shout at the top of one's lungs and not be able to hear one's self! Needless to say any communication with friends was impossible. I saw children upset with the loudness. The brothers voices were clipped as the amps/speakers were overdriven. Balance between the different instruments sucked. One of the great pleasures of the Avett Brothers is the emotive nature of so many of their songs. However, even the quietest of them came across like a chorus of air-horns. I had to walk more than 500 ft away to be able to listen to them. Around me was a steady stream of disappointed-looking folks who left during their show.

As I said, the performance was excellent, though, Scott, you looked like you were dragged straight from bed to the stage:). However, the sound crew blew it.

The Avett performance aside; it was a great day! I highly recommend the Appel Farm Music Festival

This is awesome. As one of the promoters of the festival, I was so excited to have the band back at Summer Camp. And, if you look closely at the pic above - look closely and you can see me inbetween Bob & Scott (I was standing on stage right watching the show)!!!

We drove all day long Sunday to get home from Columbus, Ohio after seeing your outstanding show Saturday night. So, the first chance I got to sit down and go to the website, you were getting ready to start your set. Wow. Just wow. It would have been nice to be able to drive over to Chili, IL, just 30 minutes from our home to see you, but it didn't work out and so the next best thing was that live feed of the festival. Thanks guys! Hated to see you melting on stage from the heat, but hope you come back to Summer Camp again!!

I've been watching every live performance of the Avetts, that I can get my (now) grimy little hands on. I'd like to say that I had an Idea of how good they would be, live, but there is no comparison to actually seing them perform. Focus, energy, and intensity, are just a few words that come to mind. Thank you, fellas! Wish you could've played for another 5 or 20 hours. I'll be back, again!

That was an excellent performance in oppressive heat-- LOVED IT !! It was such a thrill to meet Scott, what a sweetheart, I wanted to swim in the blue of his eyes! Thanks for making the time for some fans that love you dearly..I pray you come to Summer Camp again!!!!!.......XOXO ShannyB

Can't believe I missed this! counting down the days till I can see them at Bonnaroo!!
