I credited him in the interview, and here on the website. I wasn't trying to rip anyone off. Jimmy V has been an inspiration to me for years, and I would never want to rip him off.

Jim Valvano

Whoever the guy at the beginning was, he ripped of Jim Valvano's speech at the 1993 ESPY awards. Jim Valvano died less than two months after the speech and everyone should watch it. My favorite speech of all time. I don't know if Valvano was given credit and it got cut out but if you want to here the original here is a link.

I still can't watch the video. I'm running Mac OS X (Snow Leopard) and I've tried Safari and Firefox and nothing works. When is this going up on YouTube?

Nice work, I liked the fan at the beginning and his famous quote from Jimmy V because The Avett Bros music really brings out all three feelings: happy, sad, and thoughtful. I think about their lyrics more than any other group. I know that the songs will be legendary, their use of language continually leaves me in awe. Like in 'Down With the Shine,' "Things change and get strange with the movement of time..." Now, I probably would have used 'passing of time,' but movement of time, that makes me think!

You may have to check your security settings...I couldn't access the video from my work computer (large corporation with security up the wazoo), but it came right up on my home computer.

I love that for once in my life i can say i have a favorite band and mean it...i can say i own all their music, i've been to more than 1 live show and I've laughed and cried and pondered to and with and because of their songs. What an example they have been to me...in honesty, in bravery, in bearing the truth with real emotions whatever they might be...I told my sister the other day "if i never find the one person i'm supposed to be with for the rest of my life at least I've found the band and the music i know I'm supposed to have along for the ride"

Moving and oh so true -- "Three things you need to do everyday..." that fan sums it up for me and watching him move to tears when he talks about The Avetts is about as pure and true a portrait of the typical fan as you will ever get.
